Chapter 154: Eager to Slap Her
“Mr. Jos, Amelia has a lot of lines in this scene, and there’s also a fight scene. You know, Amelia still has several events to attend these days… So, could we cheat the slap scene? What do you think?” Daisy suggested.
In this scene, Penelope, in a fit of rage, would slap the female lead. And this moment just happened to be witnessed by the second male lead, who, in his anger, directly pushed Penelope off the balcony.
Upon hearing Daisy’s suggestion, a look of dissatisfaction quickly appeared on Jos’s face.
“Cheat the shot? Where have you ever seen me cheat a shot in any of my films? As an actor, you present the story perfectly to the audience. If the actors themselves cannot immerse themselves in it and resort to tricks, then what’s the point of filming this scene at all?”
Daisy’s face turned awkward.
Amelia, seeing that Jos was a bit displeased, caught a glimpse of Olivia approaching and immediately spoke up. “Daisy, it’s fine, since I’m an actor, I should perform well. It’s just a slap, it won’t be a problem.”
Jos’s expression softened a bit after hearing this. At that moment, Olivia walked over.
Seeing Olivia’s figure, Daisy, associating it with the fact that Olivia would be the one to deliver the slap, immediately said, “Amelia, I know you’re dedicated to the art, but I’m worried that some people don’t know their limits. Your face has a huge insurance policy, what if it gets hurt even a little? What should we do?”
Olivia knew Daisy was talking to her. But she didn’t mind in the slightest. In fact, she was more than eager to slap Amelia in a perfectly justified manner!
Amelia smiled and said, “It’s okay.” Then she looked at Olivia. “Olivia, don’t worry too much about this scene later. Just follow the script and slap me. It’s all normal to make the shot look more real, and I don’t mind a little pain.”
Though Amelia was surprised by Olivia’s attitude a few days ago, she knew very well that Olivia would never really slap her. If something went wrong during filming, it would be Olivia’s fault, not hers.
Olivia glanced at Amelia, a subtle smile curving at the corners of her mouth. In her past life, she had treated Amelia like a sister and felt grateful to her. When she found out how precious Amelia’s face was, she didn’t slap her. That had angered Jos, and she was scolded for a long time. But now, things have changed.
“Okay,” Olivia said with a smile.
For some reason, Olivia’s smile made Amelia feel a little uneasy. But remembering how obedient Olivia had been after returning home, Amelia felt reassured. Whether out of gratitude or out of consideration for her parents, she was certain Olivia would never truly slap her.
Seeing that both actors were cooperating, Jos nodded in satisfaction. Suddenly, he thought of something. “You both must perform well today.” At this point, whether they understood his meaning was up to them.
Soon, Olivia and Amelia were ready and stood in front of the camera. On the makeshift rooftop, two beautiful yet stylistically different girls faced each other. Pain was written all over Amelia’s face as she delivered her lines.
“Penelope, I always considered you my best friend. I never thought you were the one behind all those things. Why did you do this?”
Olivia, playing Penelope, didn’t look at Amelia. Instead, she stared at the neon-lit city behind her.
“Don’t you think this place is beautiful?” Olivia said slowly. “When I first arrived here, I thought it was beautiful too. It was nothing like the village I came from, where I would look up and see endless mountains and look down to see dry, yellow dirt… I thought that when I came here, I could start a new life and have a new future. But only after a few months here did I realize that in this bustling city, there are things far uglier than the beasts in the mountains.”
