Chapter 183: Gold for a Taste
The comment section of the livestream was lively, but Shawn and Louis paid no attention. All they could see was the steaming pot of food. They nodded eagerly, ready to eat. In that moment, they didn't care if Olivia used the opportunity to gain attention; they just wanted a proper meal.
Just as they were about to sit down, Olivia pulled out a tablecloth and hung it on a wooden rack she had prepared earlier. Shawn and Louis instinctively looked at it, only to be left speechless. Written on it was: Beef instant noodles, 1 gold bar; Canned luncheon meat, 1 gold bar; Insect repellent, 2 gold bars; Steam pot buffet, 5 gold bars; Bottled waterโฆ
Olivia gave them a friendly smile. โWelcome! Would you like to make a purchase?โ
The two men were dumbfounded and unable to respond.
โThis store has everything, including snacks, drinks, even steam pot ingredients. Take your pick!โ Olivia said brightly, promoting her shop.
Meanwhile, the production crew watching the feed was equally stunned. โIs she allowed to do this?โ
The survival game had been designed for contestants to strategize and possibly steal each other's gold bars. But Olivia had taken a completely unexpected approach by setting up a marketplace.
The livestream audience was in stitches.
โHaha, Olivia is brilliant! Everyone doubting her should apologize now!โ
โSheโs not playing the same game. Sheโs way ahead of everyone else!โ
โI thought not taking gold bars was a bad idea, but now it all makes sense!โ
โThe look on Shawn and Louisโs faces is priceless!โ
No one had predicted that Olivia would pull off such a clever move. Shawn and Louis, who had been so excited about eating steam pot, now felt completely deflated after seeing the price list.
โWould you like to order something?โ Olivia asked with a teasing grin.
The two men hesitated; the price of 5 gold bars for a single steam pot meal felt far too steep. They had worked so hard to protect their gold bars, and spending them on food felt like an enormous loss.
โNo thanks, biscuits are fine,โ Shawn mumbled, his eyes betraying his longing as he glanced at the bubbling pot of meatballs.
Louis quietly bit into his dry biscuit, his gaze fixed longingly on the steaming pot.
โThatโs too bad,โ Olivia said with an exaggerated sigh. โI guess Iโll have to eat it all by myself.โ She scooped a bowl of steam pot, savoring each bite with visible enjoyment.
Shawn and Louis watched her intently, their mouths watering.
โThereโs just too much food here for me to finish alone,โ Olivia said with an overly dramatic sigh, staring at the full pot of food.
Shawn and Louis thought silently, Weโre happy to help!, but their eyes kept drifting to the price list. Wisely, they kept their mouths shut.
Olivia filled another bowl, and the two menโs eyes brightened with hope. Was she about to share?
Instead, Olivia turned to Harry, her visual jockey, and placed the bowl in front of him. โCarrying that camera all day mustโve been tough. Come join me.โ
Harry hesitated. โI donโt have any gold bars.โ
Olivia smiled. โYouโre one of us. Donโt worry about that. Besides, their visual jockeys are filming right now anyway.โ
After a brief moment of hesitation, Harry gave in to the irresistible aroma and his growling stomach. Setting his camera aside, he sat down next to Olivia and started eating.
Shawn and Louis could only stare, their envy growing as Harry and Olivia enjoyed the steam pot, while their own dry biscuits seemed to lose any remaining appeal.
