Chapter 217: A Nosy Parker

โ€œEven if itโ€™s just a game, you should take it seriously. This isnโ€™t just about you. With that attitude, thereโ€™s no way youโ€™ll win.โ€ Franklinโ€™s tone was condescending, clearly disregarding Olivia, whose lack of fame made her invisible in his eyes.

Joycelyn remained silent. She was on the same team as him but couldnโ€™t shake the urge to punch him.

โ€œAre you a nosy parker?โ€ Olivia raised an eyebrow, glancing at Franklin.

Franklin blinked in confusion. โ€œWhat?โ€

โ€œBecause youโ€™re so good at minding other peopleโ€™s business,โ€ Olivia said with a scoff.

Franklinโ€™s expression darkened instantly. If it werenโ€™t for the fact they were live-streaming, he would have lost his temper.

โ€œIโ€™ve worked with Louis before. Seeing you sabotage your team like this, I was just being kind enough to warn you,โ€ Franklin said, barely concealing his frustration.

Olivia remained unfazed. โ€œYou sure like to talk, donโ€™t you?โ€

Franklinโ€™s eyes widened in disbelief. He never imagined this D-list nobody would dare talk back to him like this, live on camera, no less.

Whitney stood frozen in shock, while Joycelyn gave Olivia a silent thumbs-up.

To be fair, Franklin was experienced with reality shows, but his overbearing, dictatorial attitude nearly drove Joycelyn to the edge. From the start of the game, Franklin had been in overdrive, completely disregarding Joycelynโ€™s exhaustion, even when she was on the verge of collapse. Joycelyn, already physically weak, was further drained by the constant scares. Franklin could have easily continued alone, leaving Joycelyn to rest. Instead, he dragged her along as a prop to highlight his own strength. When Joycelyn tried to rest, he hit her with a barrage of scolding, implying that she was only there to collect an appearance fee without contributing. He managed to boost his image with the audience while stepping all over her, leaving Joycelyn quietly seething.

As Franklin fumed, a sudden sound of footsteps echoed around them. Franklinโ€™s eyes lit up with a hint of malice. The sound was unmistakable. Several staff members were approaching.

โ€œSince youโ€™re so good at talking, letโ€™s see if you can talk them away. Joycelyn, stick with me. Donโ€™t worry, Iโ€™m not like some people who drag their team down,โ€ Franklin said smugly.

Almost as soon as the words left his mouth, a horde of ghosts with elaborate costumes appeared from all directions. The sheer number was far beyond Franklinโ€™s expectations.

โ€œWhat theโ€ฆ Why are there so many?โ€ Franklin gaped in disbelief.

Whitney and Joycelyn froze, their legs trembling at the sight of the terrifying costumes. Running wasnโ€™t even an option.

โ€œRun!โ€ Franklin shouted, grabbing Joycelyn and bolting.

Whitney stood shaking, paralyzed with fear.

โ€œInvisibility talisman,โ€ Olivia reminded her calmly.

Snapping back to her senses, Whitney quickly pulled out her invisibility talisman and held it high. โ€œDonโ€™tโ€ฆ donโ€™t catch me! I have an invisibility talisman!โ€

Seeing the talisman, the staff members nodded in unspoken agreement and ignored Whitney completely. One of the staff, still fuming from being humiliated earlier, locked eyes on Olivia and dashed toward her with burning resolve. The rest of the staff followed close behind, their eyes gleaming with determination.

โ€œWell, arenโ€™t you all a little too enthusiastic?โ€ Olivia remarked, smiling at the group charging toward her.

It was clear she had been their target all along. If the staff could speak, theyโ€™d probably declare war on her right there and then.

โ€œEnthusiastic? Just wait until we catch you and lock you up, youโ€™ll see how enthusiastic we can really be!โ€
