Chapter 304: Targeting Olivia
Olivia sat in her chair, listening intently to the phone calls Jared made, all on speaker. She heard every word spoken from the other side loud and clear.
“It seems someone is determined to push me out of the entertainment industry,” Olivia mused, rubbing her chin thoughtfully. She wasn’t naive. Just yesterday, many roles in those productions had yet to be finalized, but now, as if by prearranged agreement, every spot was suddenly filled. But she couldn’t pinpoint who might be behind it.
Olivia recalled that Zayn had mentioned Starlit Entertainment acquiring the rights to “Tears of Rivers.” In her previous life, before the film’s release, the project hadn’t attracted any attention from the top three entertainment giants. Back then, Starlit Entertainment had only one newcomer involved in the production. Olivia struggled to grasp what had shifted this time.
Suddenly, Olivia’s phone rang. It was Tobie calling.
“Olivia, do you have a feud with Starlit Entertainment?” Tobie’s voice sounded urgent the moment the call connected.
“Why do you ask, Mr. Tobie?” Olivia responded calmly.
“Zayn just called to inform me about Starlit Entertainment acquiring ‘Tears of Rivers.’ At first, I didn’t think much of it. But right after our call, I received a call from their head office. They offered to arrange more high-profile guests for ‘With You, Under The Sky’ and even promised additional funding, on the condition that I remove you from the cast.”
Having spent years in the entertainment industry, Tobie easily recognized the pattern. This was clearly Starlit Entertainment targeting Olivia. But he couldn’t fathom how a rising star like Olivia had managed to offend such a powerful corporation, driving them to spare no expense or effort to seize all her resources.
“Olivia, what exactly is going on?” Tobie pressed, frustration evident in his tone. Despite finding Olivia’s gaming ineptitude exasperating, she had become the face of “With You, Under The Sky,” and Tobie was determined not to lose her from the show. Olivia was just as eager to understand the situation.
In her previous life, she had never crossed paths with Starlit Entertainment. Yet, in this life, they were suddenly working to block every step of her career. If her suspicions were correct, other production teams had likely received similar warnings, prompting their sudden change in stance. The only person at Starlit Entertainment she had ever interacted with was Amelia.
For a company like Starlit Entertainment, elevating another starlet like Amelia was a simple task. They had no reason to go to such lengths over Olivia’s refusal to sign with them.
After expressing his concerns and offering advice, Tobie ended the call. But trouble kept coming. Shortly after, the show “A Little Spark of Joy,” in which Olivia played a key role, was taken down due to a cast member being embroiled in a misconduct scandal. The entire production was forcibly removed from broadcast.
In a single day, it seemed as if all of Olivia’s shows and appearances had been deliberately erased from public view. That same afternoon, the “Tears of Rivers” production announced its cast selection, naming Amelia as the female lead. The remaining roles were filled entirely by Starlit Entertainment’s top talent. Even Zayn, who had spearheaded the project, was abruptly replaced.
