Chapter 365: You Donโt Seem That Smartโฆ
Just as Daxton was discussing treatment options with Clivia, Byron stormed in. Initially, Daxton was somewhat disappointed to learn Oliviaโs knowledge of traditional medicine came only from a neighbor and thought her diagnosis was merely coincidental. He had little hope for her treatment.
But then, Olivia claimed she could help him stand again, filling Daxton with shock and anticipation.
โYoung lady, your statement is absurd,โ Byron scoffed. โMy father has been unable to walk for years, despite treatment from top domestic doctors. And you, a drama student from St. Rona Academy, dare claim you can make him walk? Thatโs the most ridiculous thing Iโve heard this year. I see how you wormed your way into our familyโnothing but lies. You can only deceive the old and the young here.โ
A twenty-something girl helping my dad to walk?
โMy fatherโs condition is due to cardiac decline causing weakness in his legs. Young lady, I advise you to get your facts straight before making such claims,โ Byron said with a sarcastic smile.
Oliviaโs gaze swept over Byron, and she retorted, โYou donโt even understand why your father canโt stand, and you call yourself his son? I really worry for your father. The Moore Group hasnโt gone bankrupt under your management? You donโt seem that smartโฆโ
Byronโs face flushed with alternating shades of red and white from Oliviaโs string of sarcastic jibes. Since taking over Moore Group, he had often been praised for his acumen, likened to his father. But according to Oliviaโฆ Bankruptcy? Stupidity?
He was furious, ready to lash out at Olivia for her outrageous comments.
Meanwhile, Daxton found it refreshing to see someone put Byron in his placeโit was about time someone scolded him properly.
Even Benjamin, witnessing Byron being verbally thrashed, felt a strange sense of satisfaction. Since his parentsโ deaths, he had little contact with Byron, who lavished all his paternal affection on Benedict, his illegitimate son.
Benjamin had always been amicable towards Benedict, believing the child shouldnโt be blamed for adult mistakes. Yet, the day Olivia revealed Benedictโs schemes was the day Benjamin realized how naive he had been.
Watching his grandfather enjoy the spectacle of his father about to explode with anger, Benjamin silently face-palmed.
โOlivia, you just said you could help Grandpa stand. Is that true?โ Benjamin asked, indifferent to Byronโs rage.
โYou believe her?โ Byron looked at Benjamin incredulously.
โDaxtonโs condition might have been prolonged, but the doses have been small. The damage is there but not irreversible. Iโll write you a prescription, and you can have someone fill it,โ Olivia casually stated.
