Chapter 371: Wild Ways from the Countryside
The woman was grimacing in pain. Having always been cherished by Byron, when had she ever suffered such humiliation? But now, no one present felt any sympathy for her.
Seeing the situation unravel, Greerโs legs turned to jelly. While Byron was furiously interrogating the woman, Greer tried to sneak away unnoticed. However, just as he turned to leave, someone abruptly grabbed him by the collar.
โDr. Greer, where do you think youโre going?โ Oliviaโs voice, laced with amusement, came from behind him. Her voice drew Byronโs attention, and he frowned at Greer, whose forehead was now slick with cold sweat.
โIt was all her! She seduced me first, threatened me with a video of us together, made me do her bidding, or elseโฆ sheโd send the video to youโฆโ Greer was panicking. The Moore family had been kind to him, and if it werenโt for the womanโs scheming, he never would have hurt anyone from the Moore family.
Listening to Greerโs confession, the woman scrambled up from the ground, dropping her usual gentle demeanor, and grabbed Greer by the collar, shouting furiously.
โWhat do you mean you were threatened? It was you who drugged me! You took advantage of me when I was dazedโฆโ
โGet your hands off me, you wretch!โ Greer shook off Emilyโs grasp.
The spectacle unfolding before him was nearly enough to make Byronโs head explode. Olivia, tired of the drama, swiftly tied them up with a rope and dumped them at Byronโs feet. She then headed upstairs to join Daxton and Benjamin for tea. Whether Byron would come to his senses was now up to him.
โOlivia, thank you for your hard work,โ Daxton said, standing on the balcony, having observed everything that transpired in the garden.
He thought the audacity of the deceitful couple to drug him was monstrous enough. But to think they wouldnโt even spare Byron!
โGrandpa, youโre too kind. It was really no trouble at all,โ Olivia replied with a smile, her purse significantly heavier for her troubles.
โI was quite impressed with your skills just now; I didnโt expect someone so young to have learned self-defense,โ Daxton casually remarked. Olivia and Benjamin were about the same age. From a young age, the Moore family had hired countless expert tutors to train Benjamin in various skills, spending vast sums to make him proficient in both arts and combat.
However, Daxton had previously investigated Oliviaโs background. The Garter family was originally just ordinary folks who had made a small fortune in business. Compared to the wealth of the Moore family, the Carterโs assets were inconsequential.
Given the Carter familyโs situation, it was unlikely they could afford to invest much in teaching Olivia various skills. But Daxton had heard from Benjamin of Oliviaโs many talents.
โI wouldnโt really call it martial arts; Iโm just naturally strong. I grew up roughhousing in the countryside, Daxton, donโt take it the wrong way.โ
โThe countryside?โ Daxton was slightly taken aback.
โI grew up in the countryside and only moved to the city recently.โ
Daxtonโs eyes flickered with curiosity.
โHow old were you when they sent you to the countryside?โ
Olivia thought for a moment, โAccording to my grandma, I was sent there not long after I was born.โ
Daxton looked at Olivia, his expression growing increasingly peculiar. What kind of family would send an infant to the countryside?
