Chapter 38: Looks Donโt Matter, Plastic Surgery Can Fix That
The entertainment industry isnโt short of beautiful faces, but on the international stage, pure looks arenโt enough to gain recognition. Major entertainment companies in the country were all trying to break into the international market. High-end classical music was the perfect key to unlock those doors. No matter what this performer looked like, her impeccable piano skills alone were reason enough to sign her.
โAlright, get her signed quickly,โ Vance agreed. Zenith Entertainment didnโt just need pretty facesโthey also needed skilled artists. If her looks were average, they could simply spend some money on plastic surgery and image design. With the right polish, sheโd be a stunning artist.
โWe might need your help reaching out to her, Mr. Vance. A lot of people are interested in signing her,โ the director said.
โFine, tell me her name, and Iโll arrange for someone to contact her,โ Vance said, taking a sip of tea handed to him by his assistant.
โHer name is Olivia Carter, a student in St. Rona Academyโs performance department.โ
The tea Vance had just sipped immediately sprayed all over his assistant.
โWait, who? What did you say her name was?โ Vance asked, thinking heโd misheard.
โHer name is Olivia,โ the director repeated.
Vance was speechless. What the heck?! Olivia? St. Rona Academy performance department? Wasnโt that his Olivia?
โMr. Vance, please handle this personally and get her signed. I believe with her talent, sheโll bring Zenith Entertainment enormous profits!โ The director continued enthusiastically, desperate not to miss such a promising recruit.
Vance didnโt know how to respond. Simpina Olivia? To make money for the company?
Are you kidding me? This wasnโt something anyone could handle.
There was only one person he could turn to.
โPrepare the car! Iโm going to see my brother!โ Vance ended the call abruptly.
Inside the Wilson Group headquarters, Alexander sat at his desk, his long fingers interlaced, his expression icy as he watched his younger brother Vance rush in. To outsiders, Zenith Entertainmentโs president, Vance Wilson, was a suave and wealthy playboy. But in front of his older brother, he was as obedient as a puppy.
Clearing his throat, Vance cautiously addressed the perpetual iceberg before him.
โAlex, umโฆ howโs it going with the sister-in-law Grandpa arranged for you?โ
For a moment, Vance thought the roomโs temperature dropped a few degrees. Heโd never actually met Olivia, the so-called sister-in-law, in personโonly seen a single photo that Henry had sent him. The girl in the photo wore black-rimmed glasses, looked timid and awkward, and didnโt seem like someone who could match Alexander.
โGet to the point or get out,โ Alexander said coldly. Alexander didnโt understand what was going on lately. Why was everyone suddenly bringing up the woman he thought heโd already buried in his past? First Michael, and now Vance. These people never had any connection to Olivia before.
Vance winced under Alexanderโs icy glare.
โAlex, donโt be so heartless! Weโre full-blooded brothers!โ he said, blinking exaggeratedly in an attempt to look endearing.
Alexander seemed to be considering how best to skin his brother alive.
โAlright, alrightโฆ Alex, I do have something serious to discuss. But first, let me show you something,โ Vance said, pulling out his phone and playing the video the director had sent him.
Alexanderโs face remained impassive as he watched.
โAlex, I want to sign her,โ Vance said cautiously.
