In the room, Alexander finally realized what Olivia was implying. Did she think I am disfigured in the fire? He couldn’t help but laugh and cry as he looked at himself in the mirror. His face was not disfigured. However, the makeup applied by the makeup artist had melted away under the intense heat of the fire. What appeared in the mirror was simply Alexander’s own face. If he showed up in front of Olivia like this, his cover as “Eugene” would definitely be blown.
Despite the rare chance for a pleasant conversation with his wife, Alexander couldn’t even open the door of the makeup room. “Don’t worry, I’ll take responsibility!” Olivia’s voice from outside the door made Alexander pause. Take responsibility? Alexander furrowed his brows slightly. She is offering to take responsibility for a man she had only “recently” met? Alexander narrowed his eyes. “You’ll take responsibility?”
Though he wanted to get close to her and understand her as “Eugene,” Alexander certainly hadn’t planned on wearing a new hat for himself. Olivia said, “If you need plastic surgery, I… I’ll pay for it…” As Olivia spoke these words, her heart was bleeding, as she had heard that plastic surgery was expensive! Alexander clearly heard the heartbreak in Olivia’s voice. She really is a little miser. Responsibility, without a hint of sincerity. “As long as it doesn’t affect my career.” His soothing words, however, sounded different to Olivia.
She knew all too well how perfunctory Eugene was in the entertainment industry. His Twitter account had only one retweet of her livestream to date, and apart from his last variety show appearance, “Legacy of the Dynasty” was practically Eugene’s debut film. Clearly, Olivia didn’t believe Eugene took his career as an artist seriously. Thinking of Eugene’s boldness in the livestream and his vast wealth, Olivia naturally categorized the “career” Alexander referred to as being supported by a wealthy woman.
