Chapter 434: A Confession in Progress
The few men standing before the scene were gripped by fear. Without a second thought, they turned and ran, desperate to escape. Alexander, however, made no move to stop them. Paul shot him a puzzled look. Those men had just witnessed Alexander killing someone; the body was still lying at his feet.
โArenโt you worried theyโll run off and spread the word?โ
Alexander smirked. โThey can try.โ
Paul โโฆ.โ
Glancing at the first man he had knocked to the ground, Paul noticed he was already half-dead from terror. Beaten so badly, he could barely crawl away.
Just as Paul was wondering if Alexander would snap this oneโs neck the moment he left, a voice cut through the night, reaching both of them.
โTwo songs. My job is done.โ Oliviaโs lazy voice rang out.
Paul and Alexander instinctively melted into the shadows. With a swift kick, Alexander sent the lifeless body tumbling into a bush. Paul, meanwhile, clamped a hand over the mouth of the one still breathing, ensuring he wouldnโt make a sound.
โYou played beautifully tonight.โ A voice filled with admiration followed Oliviaโs.
Through the gaps in the foliage, Alexander and Paul spotted Olivia a few meters away, casually holding a skewer of grilled meat. Walking beside her was Benjamin.
โThanks for listening. If thereโs more work like this, count me in,โ Olivia replied absentmindedly.
Earning a six-figure sum for just two songs? Who wouldnโt want more of that? Not to mentionโฆ the food was pretty decent too.
Benjamin watched her from behind. She had already changed into jeans and a T-shirt, her ponytail swaying under the moonlight. The casual, effortless way she carried herself sent a rush of heat through his chest. His throat went dry as he stared at her delicate figure, and before he even realized it, he found himself blurting out, โWhat about for a lifetime?โ
Olivia paused mid-step. โA lifetime?โ
Benjamin met her gaze, gathering his courage.
โWhat if I said I wanted to listen to your piano for the rest of my life?โ
Olivia turned to look at him in surprise.
Meanwhile, hidden in the darkness, Paulโs eyes nearly popped out of his skull. What the hell! What did this bastard just say? Was he trying to seduce Olivia!
Just as Paul was about to storm out and beat the living daylights out of this audacious little punk, he suddenly felt an overwhelming wave of murderous intent beside him. A chill ran down his spine.
Alexander, blending seamlessly into the night, narrowed his eyes. A dark, bottomless rage simmered beneath his gaze. One more body wouldnโt be a problem. Unaware of the imminent danger he was in, Benjamin continued looking at Olivia, eagerly awaiting her answer. After a brief moment of thought, Olivia suddenly smiled at him.
โAre you serious?โ
Benjamin blinked, then nodded. โOf course,โ
She was smiling? Did that meanโฆ He had a chance?
But before he could let the hope settle in, Olivia pulled out her phone, tapped open the calculator app, and spoke with a grin.
โOthers charge by the month or the year. Youโre talking about a lifetime. Youโre quite something. Donโt worry, Iโll make sure to give you a fair price.โ
Benjamin โ???โ
Aโฆ fair price?
