Chapter 439: The Virus That Shook Cyperia
Earlier, she had skimmed through the files that came in. They were packed with high-level intel, but none of it involved Cyperia. But now? The files had taken a suspicious turn.
Hackers usually traded data through specialized underground networks. Olivia had already sorted through the first batch and was about to offload them for saleโwhen this mess showed up. Looking at the stack of blatantly treasonous documents, Olivia calmly pulled up her Super Shredder.
The filming of Legacy of the Dynasty was going well. Since it was an ensemble drama, Oliviaโs role as the female lead didnโt mean she had to be on set all the time. Skipping a few days here and there didnโt slow things down.
โA few days ago, I had the editor start cutting together a rough preview from what weโve already filmed. The series isnโt finished yet, but if we get a sample reel approved early, itโll save us time later,โ Zayn explained, finally catching Olivia.
Olivia waved a hand dismissively. โYouโre the expert, Zayn. Just handle it however you see fit.โ
Her totally hands-off approach made Zayn feel both amused and exasperated. But at the same time, he was touched. Olivia had trusted him to handle the entire productionโsomething most people in the industry wouldnโt dare to do. That alone made him more determined to make sure this drama turned out amazing.
โThis isnโt something I can just decide alone,โ Zayn insisted. โActually, I just heard from the editor this morning. They pulled several all-nighters, and the sample cut is finally done. Since youโre finished filming for the day, come watch it with me. If it looks good, Iโll send it for review this afternoon.โ
Olivia hadnโt planned on goingโuntil she heard Zayn add, โI hired a top-tier editing team to speed things up. Theyโre normally fully booked, and I had to pull some stringsโand spend a lot of moneyโto get them to fit us in.โ
Olivia narrowed her eyes. โHow much?โ
Zayn held up a number. Olivia nearly choked.
Zayn, are you burning money for fun? โYou spent that much just to edit a preview?โ Would it be cheaper if I just did it myself?
Noticing Oliviaโs stunned expression, Zayn quickly jumped in to calm her down, rambling about how incredibly skilled the team was and name-dropping all the massive blockbusters they had worked on.
He led her straight to Silhouette Studio.
โRelax. This team is as professional as it gets. Once you see the final cut, you wonโt think itโs overpriced anymore,โ Zayn assured her.
Olivia shot him a look. โAre they going to edit me into a billion-dollar box office hit?โ
Zayn instantly shut up. Just as Olivia was about to see exactly what kind of next-level editing could possibly justify that insane priceโฆ
The second Olivia and Zayn stepped into Silhouette Studio, they walked straight into a disaster zone.
โShut it down! Now!โ
โSomebody yank the internet cable!โ
โNo! Thatโs weeks of work! I havenโt slept for daysโStop, you monster!โ
The entire thirty-person studio was in total meltdown, editors scrambling around in sheer panic. Amid the chaos, Olivia heard a very familiar background track. A really bad feeling crept up her spine.
Oliviaโs eyes swept across the Silhouette Studio monitors. On multiple screens, the same horrifying scene was playing out. A dark, hooded Grim Reaper stood at a door, knocking ominously. One by one, files were dragged out from the computers, floating helplessly toward the Reaperโs grasp. As soon as he touched them, they withered into dust, their digital remains swept into a growing pile at his feet. Thenโwithout hesitationโthe Reaper grabbed a shovel, dug a grave right in the middle of the screen, and dumped the remains inside. All that was left behindโฆwas a tombstone.
Olivia froze. Grim Reaper Knocking on Doors Virus?
