Chapter 77: Mr. Wilson, Two Guys Are After Your Wife
The police immediately arrested James.
โWait! This is a misunderstanding! Itโs all a misunderstanding!โ James panicked.
โI didnโt steal the car! Sheโs my sister! I was just borrowing her car!โ
Everyone froze at Jamesโs claim. Olivia, however, remained calm.
โOfficer, do you believe him? If I were his sister, would I be dressed like this? Even his shoes cost more than my entire outfit.โ
The crowd blinked. She had a point.
โSheโs lying! If she didnโt have money, how could she afford such an expensive car?โ James argued.
Olivia chuckled. โWhen did I say this car was mine? It belongs to a friend who lent it to me. Is that so hard to believe?โ
She turned to the officers. โYou can check the registration. This car isnโt in my name.โ
The officers quickly investigated and confirmed the car wasnโt registered to Olivia.
James was dumbstruck. As the police prepared to haul him into the patrol car, he turned to Olivia, yelling, โOlivia, you win this time! Are you really going to watch me get taken away? If Mom and Dad find outโฆ theyโll skin you alive!โ
He knew Olivia cared deeply about their parentsโ opinions. If he got arrested, theyโd never forgive her.
But Olivia simply stared coldly at him. Does he really think I still care about the Wilson family leeches?
Amid Jamesโs protests, the police shoved him into the car.
โMiss, can you contact the carโs owner? Weโll need him to verify that he willingly lent you the car,โ the officer asked responsibly, given the complexity of the situation.
โSure.โ Olivia nodded, stepped aside, and called Alexander.
The call connected surprisingly quickly.
โHubby?โ Olivia said tentatively.
On the other end, Alexander was speechless. Why does it feel like every time she calls me โHubby,โ itโs never for anything good?
โWhat is it?โ
โYour car got stolen.โ
Alexander was at a loss for words.
โBut donโt worry, I already handed the thief over to the police and got the car back. Now they just need you to go down to the station to sort things out.โ
Alexander was silent for a long time before finally responding.
โAddress.โ
Olivia gave him the address and hung up.
By then, most people had already left, except for Benjamin, Hudson, and a few others who stayed behind to wait for Olivia.
Lucas glanced at Hudson, who showed no sign of leaving, and muttered irritably, โThe eventโs over, Hudson. Why are you still hanging around?โ
Hudson didnโt seem to register Lucasโs words at all.
โMs. Carter helped Alice win first place. Itโs only right for me to thank her properly.โ
Thatโs completely unnecessary, Lucas thought. He leaned closer to Benjamin and whispered, โMr. Benjamin, that guyโs trying to steal your girl!โ
Benjamin frowned. Steal what? But an inexplicable irritation flickered in his chest.
Before long, Henry arrived in Alexanderโs car. He presented the necessary documents to the police, confirming the car was indeed loaned to Olivia. Satisfied, the police left.
Henry, however, didnโt look pleased.
โMs. Carter, Mr. Liam has asked that you return to the estate for a few days. Your belongings have already been sent over.โ
Olivia nodded. Just then, Hudson stepped forward with a smile.
โMs. Carter, to show my gratitude, may I take you out for dinner tonight?โ
Before Olivia could reply, Benjamin walked over and stood between her and Hudson.
โSorry, but Oliviaโs having dinner with me tonight,โ Benjamin said firmly, reminding Hudson of her earlier promise to Benedict.
Hudsonโs eyes flashed subtly.
Henry, who had been standing quietly on the side, couldnโt help noticing the tension between the two handsome young men. Waitโฆ Are they fighting over Olivia? Alarm bells went off in Henryโs mind.
Mr. Wilson, two guys are after your wife!
