Chapter 94: Pay the Middleman Fee
Sophia was dumbfounded. The young men Lucas had been chatting with were equally shocked.
Has everyone gone mad?
โYouโre buying too?โ Olivia asked, puzzled by their sudden involvement.
โYeah, I think this stock has good vibes,โ Hudson replied nonchalantly.
โIโm buying on behalf of Mr. Benjamin,โ Lucas added, throwing in a name to earn Oliviaโs favor.
Olivia was confused. She had no idea her casual exchange with Noel had left such a strong impression on Lucas and Hudson. Buying the same stock as me meant becoming my comrade?
For them, a few thousand dollars wasnโt worth fretting over. Even if they lost it all, it wouldnโt hurt them.
โMr. Thompson, youโve really lost it this time. Why are you throwing money into a black hole?โ The young men were speechless at Lucasโs decision.
One of the young men muttered, โFollowing someone clueless into the deep end? Thatโs just begging for a loss! Better listen to me.โ
โSeriously, where did you even meet this person? Canโt you see sheโs just dragging you down with her?โ
Although Sophia didnโt really know about stocks, she understood what they were implying. Investing in VES would lead to a big loss. Why are Lucas and Hudson following Oliviaโs ridiculous steps?
Sophia jumped in, pretending to defend Olivia. โDonโt say that about Livi. She doesnโt understand stocks and just wanted to try her luck. How could she know if this stock was good or bad?โ
Her words sounded like a defense, but they subtly painted Olivia as an ignorant fool.
The young men snorted. โIf you donโt know, donโt drag others into your mess! What kind of person does that?โ
โYeah, losing your own money is one thing. But pulling others down with you? Who does she think she is?โ
Sophia inwardly celebrated. Finally, everyone was reacting as they should. But her joy was short-lived.
โIโll buy whatever I want! Whatโs it to you?โ Lucas snapped, adding even more money to his investment.
Hudson didnโt say a word but quietly added another zero to his purchase amount.
Olivia watched in disbelief as the two men kept throwing money into the stock. Her lips twitched. โYouโre really following me?โ
Both men nodded.
Olivia stroked her chin thoughtfully. โAlright, then pay me a middleman fee. One thousand each.โ
The VES stock would skyrocket starting tomorrow. Considering the free profit theyโd make, her fee was more than fair.
Sophia and the young men were utterly stunned. They had never seen someone charge others for losing money. What a funny woman!
Without a word, Lucas and Hudson paid her. Having just witnessed Oliviaโs obsession with money firsthand, the two men could only shake their heads.
The young men were nearly sick to their stomachs. What was wrong with Lucas? With all the gorgeous women flocking to him, why was he bending over backward for this plain-looking woman?
