Chapter 119

Natalie hung up the call just as Maurice sat down across from her. She beamed at the milk tea in her hand, feeling delighted. โ€œThank you, Mr. Chambers.โ€

Seeing her bright smile, Maurice knew she was truly happy. โ€œNatalie, Iโ€™ll work hard so you can comfortably call me by my name.โ€

Natalie gave a slight smile and took a sip of her milk tea. She thought it would be a piece of cake. โ€œMaurice, thank you for trusting me. The biggest fear between people is that the person across from me doesnโ€™t believe me, but trusts what others say about me.โ€

The Simpson family completely ruined Natalieโ€™s reputation. In their eyes, she was extremely malicious. They regarded her as a nobody growing up in an impoverished town.

After divorcing Easton, Natalie would prove to them that she was someone beyond their reach. And she was thankful that her last name was not โ€œSimpson.โ€

โ€œSilly, your abilities are the best proof to persuade me. Why should I rely on others to see you? I see the true you right in front of me.โ€ Mauriceโ€™s eyes sparkled with laughter; being with her made him feel so natural. Heโ€™d had meals with other girls before, but being with Natalie was the most comfortable.

After the food was served, they chatted while enjoying their meal.

Inside Eastonโ€™s office, the temperature dropped quickly.

Xavier stood in front of Easton with his head down.

Eastonโ€™s deep eyes sharply stared at him, his face full of anger. โ€œXavier, why didnโ€™t you remind me of the time?โ€

Xavier looked innocent. โ€œMr. Garcia, you didnโ€™t tell me you had a meeting with Ms. Shawn at five.โ€ He really felt wronged.

Eastonโ€™s eyebrows furrowed, his gaze flickering, and his anger lessened for a moment. โ€œI didnโ€™t tell you?โ€

Xavier shook his head. โ€œNo, Mr. Garcia. I have a clock set for all your meetings. When the time comes, Iโ€™m reminded, and then Iโ€™ll remind you. This morning you rushed into the car without mentioning it. Itโ€™s quite surprising that you could forget something this important. No wonder Ms. Shawn wants to divorce you.โ€ After saying that, Xavier lowered his head further, avoiding looking at Eastonโ€™s angry face.

Easton clenched his fists. โ€œFind out where Natalie is having dinner. Maurice was with her.โ€

Xavier immediately went to check.

Eastonโ€™s phone rang, and when he picked it up, he saw it was Jason. โ€œHello!โ€ His voice carried a hint of anger.

Jason wasnโ€™t bothered. In his mind, Easton always cared the most about Jennifer. โ€œEaston, why havenโ€™t you visited Jennifer? Sheโ€™s been waiting for you and keeps calling your name.โ€

Easton furrowed his brow. โ€œIโ€™ve already made myself clear. The last time I was at your place, I said I wouldnโ€™t involve myself in Jenniferโ€™s and the Simpson familyโ€™s matters anymore.โ€

Hearing this, Jason was furious. โ€œEaston, whatโ€™s up with you? Youโ€™ve always been the one to marry Jennifer. How can you just leave her now? If you do, how is she supposed to go on? Did Natalie say something? Donโ€™t believe what she says. Sheโ€™s just a liar.โ€

โ€œSo, should I believe what youโ€™re saying? You plotted against my wife, and I havenโ€™t confronted you about it yet. Natalie was right. They didnโ€™t reveal your identity because thereโ€™s an even bigger plot waiting for you.โ€

โ€œHmph! They didnโ€™t reveal me because they cherish our brotherly bond,โ€ Jason shouted obstinately.

Easton hung up the phone right away. He set his phone on the desk and relaxed on the sofa, his gaze deep and contemplative.

He recalled what Natalie had said. โ€œIf he wants to see me, heโ€™ll have time every day.โ€

In the past, whenever he returned home, Natalie would always be there, waiting with coffee or a late-night snack. Their home was always kept neat and tidy. As for his mother, he knew it wasnโ€™t Natalieโ€™s fault. His mother was indeed poisoned, but Natalie wasnโ€™t responsible. Natalie used to make him gruel with herbs to help his digestion, and she had shown him the herbs before. Storming off to find her was just an excuse to see her.

Jennifer was the main suspect now. She was abroad, but she managed to get the video. When Natalie was home alone, the house staff wouldnโ€™t bother her. Easton couldnโ€™t figure out who exactly took his picture.

Xavier walked in and said, โ€œMr. Garcia, Ms. Shawn is at the Rendezvous Restaurantโ€ฆโ€

Easton frowned at him. โ€œWhy arenโ€™t you calling her โ€˜Mrs. Garciaโ€™?โ€

Xavier was taken aback. He thought he had answered this question before. Seeing Eastonโ€™s intense yet unreadable look, he decided to be honest. โ€œMr. Garcia, didnโ€™t you say not to call her that because you didnโ€™t want to upset Ms. Simpson?โ€

A hint of anger flashed in Eastonโ€™s eyes. โ€œLetโ€™s go. From now on, call her Mrs. Garcia. Weโ€™re married. Calling her Ms. Shawn is just odd.โ€ He picked up his phone and stood up.

Xavier was speechless. He felt like giving Easton a smack on the back of the head. Earlier, he said not to call her that, and now said it was inappropriate. He found life as an employee was tough.

Easton and Xavier hurried to the Rendezvous Restaurant. Natalie and Maurice had just finished dinner and were about to leave. Maurice opened the car door like a gentleman, holding it so Natalie could get in.

Easton saw this scene, and his gaze darkened, with anger burning in his eyes. He quickly opened the car door, got out, strode over, yanked open the car door, and looked at Natalie. His tone was icy. โ€œNatalie, get out of the car.โ€

Natalie was a bit surprised to see Easton suddenly appear. โ€œWhat are you doing? Move aside. Iโ€™m heading home to rest.โ€ After these days of intense work, she really needed some rest.

Easton gazed at her intently. โ€œCome out. We havenโ€™t finished our conversation today. Werenโ€™t you the one who wanted a divorce? Get out!โ€

Natalie glanced at Maurice, โ€œThank you for dinner tonight, Maurice. But right now, getting a divorce is my top priority.โ€

Maurice looked at her worriedly. โ€œIf anything comes up, call me anytime.โ€

Natalie smiled calmly, โ€œSure.โ€ She unbuckled her seatbelt and got out of the car.

Seeing her laughing happily with another man, Easton felt his anger almost become real.

After Natalie got out, Maurice drove away.

Easton was about to lose his temper when Natalieโ€™s phone rang again.

Natalie answered with a smile, โ€œHi, Grandpa.โ€

Lambert chuckled happily. โ€œNatalie, come over to the bar across the street quickly. Iโ€™ve got some awesome news.โ€

Natalie looked over at the place across the street. There was a bar. She was surprised. โ€œGrandpa, are you hanging out in the bar now?โ€

โ€œCome on, you think bars are just for you young people? Besides, Iโ€™m not that old. Get over here, hurry up.โ€

Natalie hung up the phone, feeling a bit speechless. She pointed across the street. โ€œIโ€™m heading over there. My Grandpaโ€™s waiting.โ€ After that, she left.

Easton followed her as well. โ€œI should go see Grandpa too. After all, Iโ€™m his grandson-in-law.โ€

Natalie was speechless. She just rolled her eyes. As soon as she went in, she saw Lambert. It was as if he didnโ€™t even notice Easton, pulling Natalie along with him eagerly.

โ€œNatalie, look. I personally picked out ten male models just for you. Each one is at least six feet tall and flaunting those six-pack abs. Arenโ€™t they good-looking? Are you happy?โ€

Before Lambert could even finish his sentence, Natalie felt a chill go down her spine, making her hair stand on end.
