Chapter 131

Easton had an incredulous look on his handsome face. He always thought it was that miracle doctor who cured him.

Easton thought, “Natalie gave all the credit to others. But it turns out that the one who healed me was Natalie, and she had gone through so many life-threatening dangers! Natalie has loved me with all she had, but I never realized it. No, I did realize it, her careful care for over a year, but I didn’t cherish it. After Jennifer returned, everything changed. At first, Natalie tried to defend herself, but I didn’t believe her, and our relationship became increasingly strained.”

Easton said emotionally, “I’m sorry. I didn’t know about this.”

Luna looked overwhelmed, feeling that everything Natalie had done wasn’t worth it. “Your apology is cheap. You’ll never understand how Ms. Shawn loved you with all her heart and soul. She’s dead, but at least she’s free from you. I feel relieved for her. She didn’t tell you back then because she knew you loved Jennifer. She didn’t want you to be nice to her out of gratitude; she just wanted the most ordinary love.”

Luna’s eyes filled with tears as she thought, “Ms. Shawn asked for nothing, yet these people harmed her mercilessly. Who says loving with all one’s heart won’t come to naught? A person who doesn’t care feels no guilt even if someone died for him.”

Listening to Luna’s words, Easton felt a twinge of pain in his heart. His lips were tightly pressed as he stared intently at the car ahead.

Luna took a deep breath, suppressed the sorrow in her heart, and continued, “Mr. Garcia, I’m not telling you this to make you feel guilty. I know you won’t because no matter what Ms. Shawn does, it’s always wrong in your eyes. She never intended to tell you, but I chose to because I can’t accept her being your cat’s paw.”

The frustration that had been building up inside Luna was gone! She thought, “Aside from this issue, everything else isn’t worth mentioning. Easton once had his true love, but he never noticed it.”

Easton was uncertain about his feelings at the moment. He tried to recall what it felt like to be loved. Love was light in the darkness, warmth in the cold, sweetness in the pain, redemption in the abyss, and rescue from the brink of death.

Easton felt a bittersweet pang within as he remembered how she comforted him during his moments of distress, saying, “It’s okay. Trust me, you will get back on your feet.” He believed her, and he did get back on his feet.

Easton thought, “In those days, only Xavier and Natalie were by my side. If Natalie had also given up on me, I’d still be a wreck today!”

“Luna, thank you for telling me.”

Luna pressed her lips together, her gaze icy cold. “Easton, you owe Ms. Shawn three lives. She gave you three chances and you used them all.”

Easton was stunned, his voice was rough with shock. “What do you mean by three lives?” It seemed to Easton that each word was clear, but the meaning was hard to comprehend.

His heart pounded quickly, and he was desperate to know the truth. A strong doubt spread in his heart, but his mind was too overwhelmed to think. He just looked at Luna, waiting for her to reveal the answer.

Luna stayed silent as the car entered the mountain road, focusing on driving.

Xavier took a deep breath and thought, “What a touching love story! Even listening to it made me a bit envious. Yet in the end, Easton lost it!”

Easton looked at the silent Luna, knowing she wouldn’t speak. Leaning back, Easton tried to come to terms with the truth he heard tonight.

As they drove deeper into the mountains, the clouds parted, displaying a magnificent moonlit landscape. Under the moonlight, Easton’s handsome face was pale and entranced.

With a loud bang, Murray and Natalie were thrown onto a pile of weeds. Natalie’s head was spinning from the impact.

Murray looked at Natalie with concern. “Are you alright?”

Natalie closed her eyes in discomfort as her stomach churned, wondering whether it could be any worse.

Murray watched the men taking off their pants, his eyes filled with anger.

“Boss, there’s no need to find anyone else. We can take care of this beauty ourselves. If you’re not interested, you can step aside. Come on, boss, we can use this lady’s company for some fun.”

The man they called boss looked at them with contempt and said, “You guys are such fools. You can’t control your twisted thoughts anywhere. Anyway, finding people might expose us. You go ahead. I’ll stand aside and take pictures. It’s private here. Enjoy yourselves.”

The man looked at Natalie with a wicked grin.

Natalie thought in disgust, “Damn, Jennifer loves these tricks. I’ll repay her!”

One of the men had already taken off his clothes and was walking towards Natalie.

Murray yelled angrily, “Get away! Don’t touch her!”

A sharp slap hit Murray on the face. The man looked at Murray with keen interest.

“Kid, I’m into both men and women. You’ll get your turn soon enough.”

“What a jerk!” Murray thought.

The man picked Natalie up. Natalie’s whole body was weak; she could barely stand up.

Natalie gave a cold smile and thought, “That’s impressive. I thought we would be thrown into the ocean. I never expected that they would drug us. Neither did I imagine that Murray would end up in this too!”

The man tore up Natalie’s clothes.

“You jerk! Stop it.” Murray tried to pull the man away but was too weak to help Natalie. He struggled desperately to stand up but failed.

Watching the man’s lips get closer, Natalie leaned back forcefully and thought, “Where’s Luna? Why isn’t she here yet?”

Suddenly, a bullet whizzed by. The man holding Natalie was shot in the arm. After a moment’s daze, the man realized he had been shot and turned around in horror. But the next moment, he was kicked hard in the back and hit the ground. With a heavy blow struck to his groin, the man experienced the most intense pain in the world, his head throbbing in fear.

Easton fiercely kicked him in that spot. The man rolled his eyes in agony as they turned red, and he fainted in terror.

Easton turned around, glaring at the man taking pictures, and punched him hard in the face.
