Chapter 155

Natalieโ€™s beautiful eyes sparkled with amusement. โ€œDeliberate? What would I gain from that? I just let things develop in the direction you wanted.โ€ She thought, โ€˜In my past life, this heartless creature allowed robbers to ruin my appearance!โ€™

โ€œNatalie, you knew this would happen, so why didnโ€™t you stop it?โ€ Jason yelled in despair.

โ€œI warned you several times not to participate in the competition, but you didnโ€™t believe me. What does that count as? Isnโ€™t what you all did to me even worse?โ€ Natalie said.

โ€œWhen you allowed others to plot against me, rape me, beat me, and steal my designs, didnโ€™t you think you were going too far?โ€ Natalie spoke calmly, her beautiful eyes bright yet unable to hide the hatred inside.

โ€œAnd why are you so anxious? Thereโ€™s still a lot of time for you to think. The clock is ticking; when you wake up again, itโ€™ll be your lifeโ€™s nightmare. I really want to see how youโ€™ll spend your life; donโ€™t disappoint me,โ€ she said.

Jason was deeply pained by her words and fell silent.

Natalie continued to mock him. โ€œZoe gave her all for you. Not only did you fail to see it, but you also deeply hurt her. What makes you think you deserve her love? Youโ€™re more suited for someone like Jasmine. You two should lock it down and stop hurting Zoe.โ€

Jason choked up, remembering Zoe, the bookworm.

He hated school, absolutely hated it. He just wanted to go out and play; his dad never cared as long as he grew up healthy.

Then he heard Natalieโ€™s words, which sent a chill through him.

She said, โ€œDo you know why your dad lets you live so freely? Because he wants to raise you to be useless. The one who truly cares about you is the girl next door; she wants you to study hard so you can achieve great things in the future.โ€

She added, โ€œSheโ€™s already achieved great things; sheโ€™s now the executive president of a Fortune 500 company. That bookworm you used to look down on is now someone you canโ€™t even aspire to be.โ€

Jason was stunned. Since Zoe left, he hadnโ€™t heard anything about her. But he refused to believe that his own father would want to raise him to be useless. He shook his head in pain, saying, โ€œNo way, Natalie, youโ€™re lying. This is all part of your scheme, isnโ€™t it?โ€

Natalie didnโ€™t look at Jason but turned to Wendy. โ€œIt seems you havenโ€™t told him the truth. After all, sheโ€™s your daughter, no matter if sheโ€™s a mistressโ€™s child. For you, the bond of family matters most.โ€

Wendy quickly explained, โ€œNatalie, I didnโ€™t mean it that way. I didnโ€™t tell him the truth to avoid ruining my plans.โ€

Natalie looked at the haggard Wendy, feeling no sympathy.

โ€œNatalie, weโ€™re family. Do we really need to escalate things this way?โ€ Wendy asked, crying.

Natalie turned sharply, glaring at her with eyes full of hatred. โ€œDo you know why I have to make such a fuss? Do you know Iโ€™ve died once? I never felt a motherโ€™s warmth from you. Until the moment I died, it was your family that pushed me toward death.โ€

She added, โ€œDo you know what he did for Jennifer? He had the kidnappers ruin my face. His reason was simple: Jennifer didnโ€™t like my stunning looks, so he had them destroy my face. I suffered for four days before dying, trampled on by all of you one by one.โ€

โ€œAs a mother, youโ€™ve never stood up for me. As a brother, all of you looked down on me with disdain and were never kind. Now I understand: your whole family is inherently bad.โ€ Tears silently streamed down Natalieโ€™s face.

Wendy froze, thinking, โ€˜How can she hate me this much and make it feel so real?โ€™ She said, โ€œNatalie, please donโ€™t say that. It was wrong of Mom. I really didnโ€™t know. Jennifer has been scheming everything in the background.โ€

Natalie said, โ€œNo, you know. Itโ€™s just that your heart is with her, so you think Iโ€™m from a poor village and would embarrass you in the high-society circle.โ€

She added, โ€œJennifer is indeed outstanding and has a great reputation; sheโ€™s the delicate Ms. Shawn from the Simpson family, beautiful and seemingly kind. Even though Iโ€™m pretty, Iโ€™m just a pretty face that canโ€™t compare to your precious daughter whom youโ€™ve nurtured since childhood.โ€

Wendy felt a sharp pain in her heart. She had thought this way before, but later, she saw everything clearly. โ€œNatalieโ€ฆ Iโ€™m sorry. Before, Mom was wrong. I promise I wonโ€™t do that again. Can you come back?โ€

โ€œHehโ€ฆโ€ Natalieโ€™s face was filled with hatred. She thought, โ€˜How can she even say that?โ€™ She said, โ€œCome back? Where to? Back to listen to your cold mockery?โ€ She turned to leave.

โ€œNatalieโ€ฆโ€ said Wendy.

โ€œMom, donโ€™t interfere with her. Even if Jennifer is at fault, sheโ€™s still malicious,โ€ Jason shouted angrily.

Wendy turned with a smirk. โ€œCan she be more malicious than you? Didnโ€™t she warn you? She did warn you, but you didnโ€™t believe it. You call her malicious, but did you ever think about how much worse you were to her?โ€

She added, "Today, Iโ€™m sending you abroad. From now on, I wonโ€™t care about your life or death. Since you like being concerned about Jennifer and your dad, let them take care of you.โ€

โ€œMom, why are you treating me like this too?โ€ Jasonโ€™s eyes turned red.

Wendy smiled again. โ€œYes, why has it come to this between us? Because youโ€™re as malicious as Jennifer and Nick. Iโ€™ve seen through your wicked nature.โ€

She added, โ€œIโ€™ve been struggling to keep the company afloat while you didnโ€™t give me any shares, instead giving them to your dad. Jason, Iโ€™ve taught you well since you were little, but youโ€™re still so selfish. You can only see yourself; youโ€™ve blinded your own eyes to the pain of others.โ€

Wendy pointed at the documents on the table, but before she could speak, loud noises came from the entrance.

โ€œNatalie, this is my cousin. He crushed his legs in a car accident, suffering multiple fractures. The doctor was helplessโ€“heโ€™d be permanently disabled. Since you can save him, please help!โ€ Chrisโ€™s voice was filled with desperation. He thought, โ€˜Great, I was just looking for her, and she appeared.โ€™

Natalie met Chris at the elevator. They both trained under different masters, but Chris was the apprentice of her masterโ€™s junior. He was developing abroad, while she almost got crushed by her romantic thoughts over the past few years.

Seeing him on the verge of tears, she thought people with fateful connections often shared similar personalities. She and Chris were both quick to shed tears. Despite not wanting to cry, tears fell anyway. โ€œChris, donโ€™t panic.โ€

He clutched Natalieโ€™s hand tightly, his palm sweaty. โ€œNo, Natalie, Iโ€™m anxious. I canโ€™t trust other doctors to perform the surgery. You have to do it!โ€
