Chapter 159

Easton didn’t refuse and went with her upstairs for lunch.

Jennifer smiled happily, linking arms with him as they went upstairs to a window seat.

Easton sat down and could still see Natalie across the street. She was chatting with her friend, laughing happily.

After Jennifer sat down, she also noticed Natalie’s back. Seeing the way Easton looked at Natalie, she knew that he was starting to become interested in Natalie.

A hint of malice flashed in her eyes. One day, she was determined to teach Natalie a lesson.

She looked down at the menu, not caring about Easton’s attitude toward her. What mattered was that Easton appeared to be on her side in public.

But now, Easton was getting harder and harder to read, and that was making things pretty risky for her.

Natalie and Valerie went to the seafood restaurant across the street and ordered grouper and crabs, their favorite dishes. Valerie, watching the cheerful Natalie, asked, “Natalie, have you really moved on?”

Natalie nodded with a smile, saying, “He was a man I loved deeply. Although I haven’t completely moved on, I won’t look back anymore.”

Valerie didn’t say much, knowing that fate was a mysterious thing.

Valerie handed her an emerald pendant. “This little pendant will keep you safe, so remember to keep it with you at all times.” Upon hearing this, Natalie realized she might face danger soon. She smiled gratefully, “Alright! Thanks, Valerie.” Valerie then said, “I’m going abroad for a while. I’ll be gone for about two weeks. Please make sure you stay safe, okay?” Natalie, reluctant to let go, held onto her hand. “Valerie, you’ve just left the astrology agency. Why are you so busy already?” Valerie smiled radiantly, “I’ve lived in the astrology agency since I was little, and you’re my only good friend. There’s business abroad now, so I’m going to check it out. I’ll bring you back some yummy treats.”

Natalie just nodded, getting that Valerie’s home situation was tough and she had to fend for herself.

Natalie said, “I thought you could stay with me longer, but it turns out you’re leaving so soon.”

“We’ve got plenty of time. You know my situation at home. I couldn’t have done it without you. You’ve funded the repairs for the astrology agency and donated 300 thousand dollars every year. You’ve built up quite a bit of good karma,” said Valerie.

Natalie chuckled, thinking that maybe her kindness in a previous life earned her another chance from the heavens.

Natalie said, “Valerie, this time I’m donating 3 million dollars to the astrology agency. Bless me with extra good fortune.”

Valerie was delighted. “That’s fantastic! 3 million dollars is a real lifesaver. I can renovate the astrology agency and enhance its prosperity.”

Natalie instructed Luna to transfer 3 million dollars into Valerie’s account.

Just as the food was served, the two happily enjoyed their lunch and then went shopping.

When she got home, Natalie received a call from Murray.

Murray had been out of contact for several days. The list she provided him was enough to keep him occupied for quite some time.

“Murray,” Natalie said softly as she sat on the couch.

Murray said, “Natalie, Natalie, thanks for that list. I’ve caught two moles feeding info to Lucy. She sabotaged the deal we lost in Bernille. My movements were also exposed by someone inside my company.”

Natalie frowned, “What about the other two? Have you found out anything about them?”

Murray’s voice was cold and steady. “Those two haven’t done anything yet, but they have access to the Spencer family’s core secrets. I’m worried that the information might have already been leaked.”

“Recently, the Spencer family was working on a project with a foreign partner. They planned to sign the contract today, but when my dad arrived, they seemed unsure,” Murray said worriedly.

Natalie abruptly stood up. “Murray, get your dad back right now. He’s in danger. I suspect someone’s leaked your family’s bottom line. There’s no way they’re signing with your family.”

“But…” Murray hesitated.

“No more buts. What matters more? Life or the deal?” asked Natalie.

Natalie suddenly remembered that in her previous life, the Spencer family had an accident after Jason’s car crash too.

Murray’s dad died in that accident, leaving Emma devastated and unable to recover.

Within a few months, the company was taken over by an overseas corporation, and eventually, Murray met a tragic end. The company was eventually transferred to Jennifer’s name.

Ten years later, Jennifer was someone even Easton had to look up to.

It wasn’t that Jennifer was exceptionally talented. Rather, she knew how to leverage the people around her to keep climbing up.

In this regard, she was adept at using her connections.

She also managed to persuade Easton to invest in her movie.

“Natalie, I’m going to hang up now and call my dad,” Murray said anxiously. He knew if something happened to his dad, his grandma wouldn’t be able to bear it.

For Emma, he was far from being the pillar of the Spencer family. Without Natalie’s intervention, he’d likely be off living the high life, partying it up and enjoying himself.

Natalie said, “Alright, Murray, go and deal with it. Call me if you need any help.”

After Murray hung up, Natalie looked at Valerie.

Valerie shook her head as she looked at Natalie. Natalie felt a sudden pang of anxiety.

Valerie said, “It’s his fate. Nothing can be done.”

Natalie asked anxiously, “Valerie, do you have a solution? You must save Mr. Spencer.”

Valerie thought for a moment. Since Natalie had asked for help, she decided to lend a hand before leaving.

She smiled, “Natalie, since you donated 3 million dollars to the astrology agency earlier, I’ll help you out. But I’m not doing it for Murray’s sake. We’ll just go check out his place.”

Natalie called Murray. “Hey Murray, Valerie is willing to help. Is it okay if we come over to your place now?”

Murray was quite anxious. “Natalie, I can’t reach my dad or his assistant on the phone. Thanks for agreeing to help. I’m at home, and I’ll send a driver to pick you up.”

Natalie shook her head. “No need. It would waste too much time. We’ll head over now.”

Valerie grabbed her things and headed out with Natalie.

Half an hour later, they arrived at the Spencer residence.

Emma was there, and she seemed quite nervous. When she saw Natalie and Valerie arrive, she sighed with relief.

Valerie looked at Murray and said, “Hurry up. We don’t have much time. Give me a photo of your dad.”

Murray quickly went to get a picture. A minute later, he came out of the room with a photo and gave it to Valerie.

Valerie went into a separate room, and no one went to disturb her.

Murray was anxious because he couldn’t reach his dad on the phone. Both he and Emma were on the edge.

Natalie pulled up a chair next to Emma, took her hand, and looked at her ashen hair. Emma’s eyes were filled with worry and care, and they glistened with unshed tears.

“Mrs. Spencer, don’t worry. With Valerie here, everything will be alright. She’s really talented,” Natalie reassured Emma.

Emma didn’t say anything but nodded slightly.

Natalie waited until Murray hung up the call and then asked, “Still can’t reach your dad?”
