Chapter 180
Natalie was just about to take a shower when she got a video from Murray. The video showed Jennifer being surrounded by...
Before she left, Natalie had heard Eastonโs phone call, confirming that Jennifer wasnโt lying this timeโshe really was in trouble. Looking around, Natalie recognized the place as the mansion area where Easton lived.
[Natalie. Jennifer is way more vicious than we thought. She harmed someone to win the piano competition, and that person ended up dead.] Murray sent the message.
Natalie didnโt know that Jennifer had won the piano competition because of Yvette. In her mind, Jennifer had always been a good pianist.
Natalie texted Murray back. [Be careful, Jennifer has got a hitman working for her. She is really smart and talented in everything.]
Murray: [Youโre giving her too much credit, Natalie. How can a vicious woman like her be considered smart? Her best skills are pretending and seducing people.]
Natalie could see Murray was underestimating Jennifer. [Murray, Iโm serious. Think about the people in your company and why your dad, who lives abroad, got into a car accident. These things arenโt easy to pull off. Without prior planning, she couldnโt have achieved this. She has many unknown backers that we donโt know about. Her main goal now is Easton. As the heir of Shagrityโs first family, marrying Easton would elevate her status. Sheโll use that status to climb even higher.]
Murray: [Now that you put it that way, Natalie, she does sound scary.]
Natalie: [Donโt underestimate women.]
Murray: [I saw her shaking earlier and thought she was easy to push around.]
Natalie: [Murray, go to bed already.]
Natalie tossed her phone aside and went to wash up, getting ready for bed. Thinking about how Easton suddenly refused to divorce her, she felt really upset and just wanted to be alone.
With Lambert and James not at home, the mansion was quiet. Natalie lay down on the bed and quickly fell asleep. But she had another nightmare, reliving her life in the past when she was tied up in an abandoned building.
She watched helplessly as those people hurt her. Sharp pain cut across her face, and the moment her fingers were crushed by an axe, the intense pain pushed her to the edge of terror. The worst part was when Easton pushed her off the building.
โNo, Easton, no, please save me, save our babyโฆโ Blood splattered on the ground with a โbangโ sound. Natalie saw herself turn into a bloody mess.
โNo!โ Natalie sat up abruptly, drenched in sweat. Sunlight seeped through the curtains, and she realized it was just a dream. โPhew.โ Natalie breathed heavily, like a drowning fish gasping for air. She curled up, feeling the pain. Her phone kept ringing, and Natalie reached out to grab it without checking the number, hitting the answer button.
โHello!โ
โNatalie, youโve got some nerve! You hired men to teach Jennifer a lesson. Do you want to die?โ Vanceโs voice shocked her out of her grogginess.
โHired men to teach Jennifer a lesson? Did Jennifer die?โ Natalie asked, sitting up straight.
Chapter 180
โNatalie, how can you be so vicious? Jenniferโs face almost got disfigured. Sheโs about to start filming. Come over and apologize right now, or Iโll call the police.โ Vance demanded, his tone harsh and threatening.
Natalie laughed bitterly. Heโs always been so domineering, she thought. โVance, sheโs done so much to me. If I wanted to kill her, do you think sheโd still be alive?
โApologize to her? Why should I apologize for something I didn't do? Ask her if she dares to call the police,โ Natalie retorted, her voice steady despite the anger bubbling inside her.
โWhat do you mean? Why wouldnโt Jennifer dare to call the police? Sheโs the victim here,โ Vance growled, sounding like he wanted to tear Natalie apart.
Natalie really envied Jennifer right now. Her brothers truly cared for her, willing to do anything for her, even something as crazy as risking their own lives.
But Natalie kept her cool and said, โVance, why donโt you tell Jennifer to call the cops? See if she dares. Sheโs the one who drove someone to their death, so what makes Jennifer think she can call the police?โ
Natalie hung up and blocked Vanceโs number before getting up to take a bath. She sweated it out, feeling miserable, and her emotions were still all over the place.
Vance ended the call and turned to head for Jenniferโs hospital room. Jennifer had come to the hospital this morning because her face, which had been treated last night after being beaten, was even more swollen today.
Her face was nearly ruined, and now all she wanted was to heal and then make those two scumbags pay.
She subtly hinted to Vance that last nightโs incident might have been orchestrated by Natalie. And there he was, Vance, on the hunt for Natalie from early morning. Jennifer thought viciously as Vance walked in, โJennifer, Natalie denies it.โ
Jennifer touched her swollen cheek, looking hurt as she said, โMaybe it wasnโt her, but I canโt think of anyone else Iโve wronged.โ
โHmph!โ Vanceโs eyes turned bloodshot with anger, hating Natalieโs malicious tactics. โJennifer, letโs call the police. If we lock her up for a while, sheโll learn her lesson and wonโt dare to scheme against you anymore.โ
The mention of calling the police scared Jennifer. Her face turned pale. โNo, Vance, without evidence, we canโt report her. Those two guys ran away long ago, and the police didnโt catch them last night.
โWithout proof, we canโt bring her to justice. Donโt report it, Vance, or Natalie will hate us even more.โ
Vance was taken aback, realizing that Natalie had been right about Jennifer not agreeing to report the incident. He wondered, Could it beโฆ No way, how could Jennifer lie to me? It must have been Natalie...
โAlright, alright, rest well. The doctor said your face will be fine after a few days of rest,โ Vance said.
Jennifer smiled sweetly, nodding gently. โVance, thank you. Youโre all the ones who love me the most. After finding out that Natalie is your real sister, Iโve always felt insecure. Natalie has been jealous of me seeing how good you all are to me.
โItโs all my fault. If it werenโt for the mix-up, the one youโd care for would be her. This mess between us is all because of me.โ
With that, Jennifer lowered her head and started sobbing softly, sounding both delicate and pitiful. Vance felt heartache for Jennifer. He sat beside her hospital bed, his voice full of affection. โJennifer, donโt cry. We only have one sister, and thatโs you.
โIโll never acknowledge Natalie. Sheโs too evil.โ Vanceโs eyes were filled with hatred. He thought, If it werenโt for Dad bringing Natalie back, our family would have been happy and content. So, what if sheโs my real sister? Blood relation aside, sheโs nothing.
Natalie said. โJennifer, not reporting Natalie and letting her off the hook is really unfair.โ
