Chapter 249
Amy said, โAlright, Ms. Simpson. Donโt worry, I have my ways to make Natalie suffer like never before.โ Amy hung up the phone with an incredibly sinister smile. If her son were to secure a job at Eastonโs company, he would earn a substantial annual income.
Late at night, after Natalie gave Anne acupuncture, she fell into a deep sleep. She tucked the blanket around Anne and went out to rest. If Natalie provided Anne with another acupuncture session in the morning, her stomachache would subside. Consistent care was necessary for stomach issues to heal quickly.
Natalie quietly closed the door and saw Amy standing not far away. With a smile, Amy said, โMs. Shawn, Iโve prepared the guest room on the first floor for you. Please go down and rest.โ Natalie raised an eyebrow and thought, โThe first floor?โ Natalie didnโt mind where she slept, as it was just for a night. She had slept on the first floor during previous visits as well. If she were to come from another place, it would be quite a hassle. โOkay,โ Natalie said and nodded slightly.
Just then, Easton came out of the master bedroom, looking at Amy with a serious expression, and asking, โAmy, Natalie is my wife. Where are you planning to put her?โ Upon hearing this, Amy became flustered. She clarified, โMr. Garcia, when Ms. Shawn used to accompany you to visit Mrs. Garcia, you always had her stay on the first floor. You said she wasnโt worthy, and that only Ms. Simpson deserved to stay upstairs. Ms. Simpson is the one you care about the most, and Iโm just following your instructions.โ Easton frowned, recalling that he had indeed said those words. He suddenly looked up and noticed a hint of pain in Natalieโs eyes. He frowned and walked over to her. However, Natalie had turned around and gone downstairs. She was so upset that she couldnโt say a word. Her throat felt tight, and she realized she was never worthy. Honestly, that wicked Jennifer really was a good match for Easton.
Natalie headed downstairs, grabbed her handbag, and left the Garcia residence. She thought she could just get up early and come back tomorrow. As Natalie walked away, she texted Luna, asking Luna to come pick her up. Easton followed Natalie outside, grabbing her hand. He asked, โNatalie, where are you going?โ Natalie looked up at Easton and said weakly, โIโm going home. Do you still have anything to discuss, Mr. Garcia?โ Hearing her sad voice, Easton frowned and looked at her, saying โDonโt care about Amyโs words. I wonโt let her talk like that again in the future.โ Natalie said with disgust, โEaston, it wasnโt Amy who said thatโit was you. I know Iโm not good enough, so Iโll just go back to my own place. Please move aside.โ Easton held onto Natalieโs hand tightly and said, โNatalie, whatโs done is done, and I was at fault. Please stop. I promised to stand by you in the future.โ Natalie replied, โNo, thanks. Your support would only bring me more trouble. Please, Mr. Garcรญa, spare me this time. Whatever happens between you and Jennifer or the Simpson family has nothing to do with me. Besides, you, being so despicable, are not worth my time. Just keep your distance.โ
Natalie pulled her hand away forcefully and left the Garcia residence. Easton chased after her, but Natalie heard footsteps and quickly turned around, shouting, โEaston, stop following me. Iโm sick of you!โ Easton came to a sudden stop, his eyes filled with anger. โI just want you to go back; itโs too late,โ he said. Natalie stated, โThis is a law-abiding society. Even at night, the main road remains perfectly safe.โ Natalie finished speaking and walked away, not giving Easton a chance to respond. Easton watched Natalie walking away, feeling completely helpless. He thought, โNever mind. Natalie has always been strong. Sheโll figure it out herself!โ However, Easton didnโt understand how deeply Amyโs words had hurt Natalie.
Easton turned around and went back, seeing Amy standing in the lobby. With a cold look, he said, โGo see Xavier to get your paycheck. Youโre fired.โ Amy was shocked and terrified, tears streaming down her face as she tried to explain to Easton, โMr. Garcia, I really didnโt mean any harm. Youโve always prioritized it before. I was worried that if I placed Ms. Shawn on the second floor, both Ms. Simpson and you would be upset, so Iโฆโ โGet out!โ Easton tugged at his tie, feeling annoyed. He couldnโt believe he had accidentally caused Natalie so much pain. Easton was very irritated now, not wanting to hear anyone speak. Amy was scared and quickly went to her room to pack her things. She cursed inwardly, โDamn Natalie! I actually got fired because of her!!โ Amyโs daughter was still in college. Now that she had been fired, she wondered how she was going to cover her daughterโs expenses. Amy thought for a moment and decided to seek out Jennifer. Only Jennifer could protect her now. Last time when Jennifer staged her fall down the stairs, Amy saw everything clearly. Amy arrived outside the gate with her belongings and called Jennifer. Amy said, โMs. Simpson, I got fired by Mr. Garcia for letting Natalie rest on the first floor. Speaking from experience, let me tell you, Mr. Garcia has feelings for Natalie. You should be cautious.โ Jennifer sneered, โEaston wouldnโt possibly fall for Natalie. Go back now and plead with Easton to take you back.โ Amy, brimming with excitement, declared, โAll right, Iโll return and request Mr. Garciaโs forgiveness. Ms. Simpson, I promise to keep an eye on Mrs. Garcia and Mr. Garcia for you, but I need you to assist in securing a job for my son, ideally within the Garcia Group. In return, my son and I will support you in dealing with Natalie.โ Jennifer said, โI see, Iโll take care of it when I get back.โ Then Amy happily turned back to the Garcia residence.
Just then, Natalie stepped out from the shadows. She saw that Amy had already opened the door and went inside. Natalie was surprised that Amy, who took care of Anne, was actually working for Jennifer. No wonder last time, when Jennifer orchestrated her own fall down the stairs, Amy claimed that Natalie had argued with Jennifer. Amy only mentioned witnessing Natalie blaming Jennifer, not pushing her, but Easton assumed that Natalie had pushed Jennifer. It seemed like there were still many people working for Jennifer around Easton. For example, when they went scuba diving on the island before, Jennifer was able to exactly find Eastonโs location. Jennifer indeed focused much of her attention on Easton. Natalie glanced at the Garcia residence and then turned to walk away slowly. She walked out of the villa area, waiting for Luna to pick her up. Sitting on the roadside steps, Natalie gazed at the distant night view, feeling helpless. She hugged her knees, feeling deeply sad. Natalie wondered, โAm I truly so detestable? Why do all the misfortunes seem to single me out?โ Natalie felt like crying again. She tilted her head back, remembering that looking up would stop tears from falling. As she looked up under the moonlight, tears ran down her cheeks. Half of her face was in shadow, the other half in the light, and she looked absolutely gorgeous. Not far away, a photographer took a shot, capturing this beautiful and solitary moment. He chose not to disturb Natalie and quietly left.
Someone asked, โHey there, pretty lady, did someone pick on you? Why are you sitting here crying?โ Three men who just left a bar walked up to Natalie. The night was beautiful, and the alcohol made them bold. Seeing the three drunk men, Natalie slowly stood up. Already in a bad mood, she felt it was perfect that three guys had offered themselves to vent her anger. One of the men approached Natalie, reaching out to grab her. Natalie was about to fight back when a long leg stretched out from behind her, sending the man flying without any warning.
