Chapter 256
Natalie had dinner with Maurice, who personally drove her home. She was very tired today, so she didnโt ask Maurice to come in. After Maurice left, she had just locked the front door of the villa when the doorbell rang unexpectedly.
She thought Maurice had returned, so she opened the door and called without looking, โMauriceโฆโ When she realized it was Easton, she suddenly stopped. Frowning, she asked, โEaston, why are you here?โ
Easton smirked with a hint of playfulness. He said, โWhat? Is it disappointing that itโs me and not Maurice?โ
โA bit, yeah,โ Natalie admitted, trying to close the door. Although she didnโt know how Easton found her here, living in this city meant heโd find her eventually. The house wasnโt under her name so that Easton couldnโt trace it back to her.
Easton looked at the luxurious villa, thinking, โShe lives in a place like this. No wonder she doesnโt care about my money.โ
Easton looked at Natalie coldly and asked, โNatalie, is this the house Carl bought for you?โ
Easton thought that if he had known Natalieโs true identity back then, he would have given her the best. He could have provided her with a mansion like this, too. But why would she keep her identity secret all the time?
Natalie listened to the sarcasm in his words and smiled calmly. She said, โWho bought it for me is none of your concern. Itโs late, I need to rest. Mr. Garcia, please leave.โ
Natalie was about to close the door, but Easton gently pushed it open. After Easton entered, he closed the door with a playful smile. He said, โIโm your husband. Arenโt you going to invite me to sit?โ
Natalie was speechless, thinking, โIs he crazy?โ She replied, โEaston, I donโt want to invite you. You have no right to be here.โ In her past life, her family suffered because Easton helped Jennifer. She ultimately lost her dearest loved one.
Eastonโs gaze suddenly turned cold. His tone was mocking as he said, โNatalie, you say you love me, but I donโt see so much.โ
Hearing the sarcasm in his tone, a sharp pain surged through Natalieโs chest. She was easily moved to tears, and her eyes would turn red when she heard something sad.
She said, โEaston, you can doubt anything about me, but not my love for you over these past two years. My love wasnโt enough because you slowly wore it down."
โSo I donโt love you anymore. Two years ago, I turned down many job offers to take care of you. Youโre always so selfish, deciding my fate with just your words. Youโve never believed in me.
โIโm your wife, and you always have your weapon pointed at me. You give your best to everyone else, but you wonโt even spare a warm glance for me, your actual wife.
โAnd Iโve said it before, unless itโs about the divorce, donโt come looking for me. I donโt want any involvement with you. Go now, itโs late and I need to rest.โ
Easton clenched his fists tightly and said, โNatalie, I messed up before. How many times do I need to apologize before you forgive me?โ
Natalie replied, โDid I ever tell you that you donโt deserve to apologize? The knife wasnโt in you, so youโll never know how much I hurt. You, once, personally killed me.โ
Natalie pointed at her stomach in distress, but she held back. She said, โEaston, every time you appear, it just reminds me of how insignificant I used to be.โ
After that, Natalie turned and walked toward the villa. She bet Easton dared not do anything to her.
Easton watched Natalieโs angry figure, he quietly turned and left.
Natalie had just returned to the hall when she got a call from an unknown number. She answered, โHello!โ
โAre you Natalie?โ came a cocky male voice from the other end.
Natalie frowned and said, โYes, I am.โ
The man said, โThatโs great. Your brother, Declan, made a bet with us and lost, but he canโt come up with the 300 thousand dollars. He asked you to come and save him."
โIf you donโt come to his aid, Iโll break his arms and legs and leave him a cripple for life.โ
Natalie frowned, thinking, โItโs Declan.โ Declan wasnโt a good guy either; she had no intention of helping him.
Natalie refused, saying, โI have nothing to do with the Simpson family anymore. Whatever you choose to do to them is your decision.โ
On the other end, Declanโs angry voice could be heard. He shouted, โNatalie, Iโm your brother. You canโt just leave me to die. How can you be so heartless? We are truly blood-related siblings. You canโt just sit back and do nothing.โ
Natalie frowned. Such an event didnโt happen in her past life.
In her past life, after Vanceโs accident, Declan didnโt make it back until her birthday party, and he ended up in jail. After finding out Jennifer had taken everything from him, Declan attempted to crash his car into Jennifer but was unsuccessful. Jennifer ended up having Declan imprisoned, where he met a tragic end.
In this life, Natalie decided not to interfere, believing it was polite to respect othersโ destinies.
But she was confused, wondering, โWhy is everything happening several months earlier in this life? Is it because I changed things from my past life?โ
Natalie mocked Declan, โDeclan, when you need me, you are my brother. When you donโt, Iโm just some outsiderโs child. You should go find your real sister, Jennifer."
โSheโs the one you really care about, isnโt she? Have you forgotten what youโve done to me before? Why would I ever come to save you?โ
Declan grinned and said, โNatalie, Iโm asking you to rescue me, which means I think highly of you. Jennifer is the jewel of the Simpson family, our princess. How could she possibly come to such a place?"
โYou grew up in an impoverished town with tough skin, so taking a few hits shouldnโt be a problem for you.โ
Natalie laughed angrily, thinking, โSo thatโs how it is. This is how he sees me in his eyes.'
Tears shimmered in Natalieโs eyes as if her soul had been ripped away. The pain inside her felt like ink, clouding her world.
She broke down immediately. Her face contorted with pain as tears fell to the ground. She took a deep breath, trying to control the anguish inside, but tears still spilled uncontrollably from her eyes.
She thought, โWhy do these jerks have to crush my dignity like this?โ
Natalie said, โDeclan, youโre unbelievably cruel. I wonโt come to save you, so stop dreaming."
Declan said, โNatalie, I demand you come save me immediately and bring 300 thousand dollars. I know you have the money. If you rescue me, Iโll let you return to the Simpson family and acknowledge you as my sister.โ
Natalie sneered, โNot interested. Being your sister is such bad luck. Who would dare to be your sister? Iโve never been your sister; Iโm here to settle the score with you.โ
Declan said, โNatalie, why are you upset, you country girl? You should be glad for the chance to save me.โ He was just as arrogant and self-centered as ever.
Natalie said, โYou can keep that blessing for yourself. Goodbye! Whether you break a hand or a leg, it has nothing to do with me, Declan.โ
Natalie was about to hang up when she heard Declan shout, โMr. Wright, make sure Natalie comes over tonight. She is really beautiful.โ
When Natalie heard the words Mr. Wright, she suddenly remembered something. She asked, โWhereโs the address?โ
