Chapter 294

Jennifer noticed the worry in Easton’s eyes and couldn’t help but feel a pang of jealousy and hatred.

After divorcing Easton, Natalie no longer hid her beauty. Natalie was now dazzling, and she had to reclaim her glory.

Easton ignored Jennifer and returned to the office to keep working. As Jennifer was about to go after him, her phone rang with a call from Oliver.

Jennifer said, “Hello, Oliver.”

Oliver said, “Ms. Simpson, our master wants you to buy the land in the western suburb.”

Jennifer was thrilled. This time, they were on the same page. “I agree, but Natalie is purposely letting me have it. Go check it out. I’ve framed her countless times before, and I’m worried she might have a trick up her sleeve.”

Natalie was slipping out of Jennifer’s control, so she needed to investigate first. Natalie’s recent counterattacks had made Jennifer very cautious.

Oliver chuckled, “Ms. Simpson, you’re overthinking it. We’ve discovered that Natalie doesn’t have any special abilities. Maybe her adoptive family is decent, but they can’t stand up to you. There’s no need to worry about her.

“Our master also mentioned that Easton has been preparing for the land in the western suburb for half a year. He always wanted to buy it, but the Spencer family wouldn’t let go. It’s only recently that there has been some movement.

“He said that once the western suburb is developed, with schools and medical care integrated, the prospects would be incredible.”

Jennifer felt a bit uneasy. “Oliver, just to be safe, you should check how many people are trying to get this land.”

Jennifer was still worried about Natalie playing tricks. Natalie had once said that as long as she was alive, she’d drag them all to hell. Someone with nothing to lose could be very dangerous.

After Natalie left, she became even more cunning, openly daring Jennifer to buy it. Jennifer thought, “Would I be foolish to fall for it?”

Oliver said, “Ms. Simpson, over a dozen companies have their eyes on this land. It’s a hot property. Before I called you, I received a call from our master, and his people have already checked it out.”

Murray wanted to sell this land because the company had faced some issues lately, and he planned to sell some of his assets to fill the gap.

Jennifer was aware that she had taken the project in Bernille, causing the Spencer family to lose a significant amount of money.

Even if Murray knew Jennifer was the one behind it, he didn’t have any evidence, so he couldn’t do anything about it. Murray could only suffer in silence with no one to complain to. Seeing Murray frustrated made Jennifer quite happy.

Jennifer laughed smugly. “Since everything is clear now, let’s buy the land. Natalie still has feelings for the Simpson family, which is why she’s helping me.”

Jennifer thought this way to convince herself that Natalie’s help wasn’t with an ulterior motive.

Oliver reminded her, “Ms. Simpson, regardless of Natalie’s intentions, we must secure this land. The government has started planning, which is advantageous for us, and we’ve received this information ahead of time.

“If we can buy both nearby plots, there could be a big profit in the future.”

Hearing they had already investigated, Jennifer felt relieved. Now, they just had to wait for good news from Natalie.

Meanwhile, as Natalie was walking around, she got a call from Murray. After Natalie gave him the address, he went to meet her. The two found a lounge to discuss things, and Murray ordered some snacks Natalie liked.

Seeing the fried chicken, Natalie put on disposable gloves and ate two before saying, “Murray, is that land in the western suburb really in your name?”

Murray said, “Yeah. It was under Maxwell’s name before, now it’s under mine. It’s something my dad set up. I have no idea what he’s up to, and Allen might not even know the land’s with me now.”

Natalie raised an eyebrow, smiling happily. “Earlier, when I called you, Maxwell wanted to give me this plot to get his son out.”

Murray was tense. He’d been manipulated recently, leaving him feeling on edge. Murray wore a white jacket and light jeans, giving off an air of elegant charm.

Murray asked anxiously, “Natalie, what are you going to do? Are you going to let him off?”

Natalie shook her head. “Letting him go doesn’t necessarily mean letting him off. Even if we let him go, his impulsive nature will get him into trouble again.

“Maxwell just mentioned the land in the western suburb, and it reminded me that there’s an ancient tomb beneath it, so it can’t be developed. Whoever buys it is unlucky, so I told you to sell it to Jennifer.

“Jennifer also wants to enter the real estate market. She was interested in the plot I bought from George.

“Since she couldn’t buy it, she’s now looking at the land in the western suburb. In about two weeks, the government will be involved in developing that area, and it will be included in the plans.

“I’m not lying to you. It’s best to sell that piece of land as soon as possible.”

Murray’s eyes widened in shock. “Natalie, what did my family do to deserve such bad luck? Why does it seem like there’s always a trap everywhere?”

Natalie laughed and said, “Murray, it’s because there are some bad people in this world, and those with pure intentions are rare. As long as you keep your eyes open, they won’t be able to harm you.”

Murray asked in shock, “Natalie, how did you know there’s an ancient tomb below?”

Natalie chuckled. “I’ve learned about history and also asked Valerie.”

Natalie knew Murray trusted what Valerie said, especially since Valerie saved Alfred.

Murray was speechless.

Murray asked, “Natalie, isn’t Valerie coming back yet? If she returns, I want to ask her to check on my home. It’s terrifying. There’s scheming everywhere.

Murray couldn’t even sleep well now. Every night, he was jolted awake by nightmares.

Speaking of nightmares, Murray was shocked. “Natalie, I’ve been having nightmares the last couple of nights, dreaming of a woman cutting off my limbs and tossing me into the sea to feed the fish.

Natalie was speechless and comforted him. “That’s just your imagination. Don’t overthink it. You’ll be okay.”

Natalie wouldn’t let anything happen to Murray because Murray was her greatest ally.

Natalie said, “Murray, everything’s getting better. Your dad’s fine, and you will be too. Your grandma is healthy, your mom is happy, and your sister is doing great abroad. Everything’s going well for you all.”

All Natalie could do was comfort him this way. Natalie knew the outcome, but not the process. She didn’t know what had occurred between Murray and Jennifer.

Murray frowned, feeling something was off. In his dream, he was in tremendous pain. He heard a woman’s malicious voice: “Murray, you fool. You’re nothing but a fool. Everything from the Spencer family is mine now.”

That voice was venomous and malicious.

Murray shook his head uncomfortably, and he thought maybe he was overthinking. “Natalie, I understand. We’re all going to be alright.”

“About the land you mentioned earlier, tell Jennifer I will auction it off. In any case, I want her to pay the highest price and end up with nothing.”
