Chapter 319
Jennifer smirked at Wendy, mocking her lack of competence. โMom, you must have been too harsh on my brothers. Thatโs why Declan refuses to side with you. And as long as Declan isnโt on your side, the other three wonโt be, either.โ
โVance might be missing, but thereโs nobody. Thereโs only one possibility. Heโs off chasing Khloe again. He loves her desperately, you know, head over heels.โ
Still, Vance had likely met his end in the ocean. There was no way heโd ever return.
Jennifer planned to use her two remaining brothers to commit crimes that would land them behind bars.
Wendy pulled her hand away from Declanโs grasp without saying a word and headed upstairs to rest. She was exhausted. After the divorce, she intended to unleash her most brutal revenge.
Seeing Wendy calm down, Nick finally felt at ease.
He wasnโt in a hurry. Over the years, he had secretly stashed away a significant amount of money and even bought two villas. As long as the company stayed afloat, his luxurious lifestyle would remain intact.
Nick glanced at Declan, his mind racing. โWhatโs he up to? Does he want to take over my company? No way. I canโt let him stay close to me,โ he wondered.
โDeclan, youโre all adults now. You can choose to follow whoever you want, but donโt expect to stay with me,โ Nick declared firmly.
Nick had no intention of supporting Wendyโs sons. His priority was Camellia and their children; taking care of Wendyโs boys would only upset her.
Declanโs eyes glistened with unshed tears. In a low voice, he said, โAlright. Mr. Simpson, I understand. In that case, letโs draft an agreement before the divorce is finalized.
โIf you donโt want me now, then when youโre old, we four brothers wonโt take care of you either. If you refuse to sign the agreement, Iโll demand 10% of your company shares.โ
Nick was stunned. โSo Declan really is after my company!โ he thought.
With no other options and his company being his sole source of income, Nick had no choice but to agree.
โFine. Iโll draw up the agreement right now. When Iโm old, I wonโt expect anything from you,โ said Nick.
Using the household printer, Nick quickly typed up a severance agreement, disowning Declan and his brothers, and printed it out for them to sign.
Declan looked at the agreement with bitterness. Natalie had seen through the familyโs selfishness long ago, which was why she had resolutely signed away her ties to them and left.
After Nick signed, the deal was done. From now on, the brothersโ lives and deaths would have nothing to do with Nick. Declan stared at Nick, feigning reluctance. โDad, think carefully. If you sign this, youโll no longer be my father.โ
Nick frowned impatiently. โJust sign it already. I didnโt even keep Natalie around. Why would I bother with you four losers?โ Declan gave a bitter smile. โAlright. If you donโt want me, Jennifer does. Sheโs my dearest sister, and weโll stick together.โ
He turned to Jennifer with a smile.
Jennifer chuckled. โDeclan, if you want, you can stay by my side and keep working as my driver. After all, with your degree from a third-rate college, finding a job must be tough. Being a driver suits you perfectly.โ
โExactly, it suits me just fine. Being your driver makes me happy. No matter what others say, I only recognize you as my sister. The bond weโve shared growing up canโt be weakened by anyone else,โ Declan replied.
Jennifer looked into Declanโs tear-filled eyes. Knowing he had no other options, she smiled faintly without responding and went upstairs to rest.
Meanwhile, a servant discreetly recorded the entire scene and sent the video to Natalie.
After watching it, Natalie felt little emotion.
Declan truly was Jenniferโs loyal follower, but as long as he didnโt meddle in her affairs, she didnโt care.
With Wendyโs capabilities, she could ensure Nick ended up with nothing.
Wendy had been preparing for nearly a year, waiting for the perfect moment. Now, she wanted nothing more than to finalize the divorce. Once it was done, Nickโs scandals would inevitably come to light.
And when that happened, Nick would lose everything.
Wendy knew she couldnโt overpower Jennifer, not with William supporting her from the shadows.
Still, she had no intention of letting Nick or Jennifer live comfortably. All she had to do was sit back and watch the chaos unfold.
Meanwhile, Natalie responded to the servant who had sent her the video with a quick thanks then set her phone aside and returned to her work.
Zoe hadnโt been feeling well. After a one-hour nap, she woke up with a sore back.
Walking around her room helped, and the thought of her babyโs impending arrival filled her with joy.
The storm outside had passed, but thick fog blanketed the sea, making it impossible to discern directions.
A lone fishing boat rocked in the desolate waves.
Listening to music, Zoe paced her room, taking breaks whenever she felt tired.
By the afternoon, a faint, dull ache started in her lower abdomen.
Recalling all the advice sheโd read from expectant mothers and doctors, she figured labor was still a while away.
As the discomfort remained manageable, she decided to seek out Natalie, knowing that having a doctor and friend like Natalie nearby brought her immense comfort.
Zoe knocked on Natalieโs door, and it opened almost immediately.
Natalieโs face turned serious. โZoe, are you feeling unwell?โ
Zoe nodded, a wry smile on her lips. โNatalie, you called it. My stomachโs really starting to hurt now.โ
Natalie quickly checked her condition and confirmed it. โZoe, itโs time. Letโs head to the hospital and get everything set up. Better to be prepared early.โ
Zoe nodded. โAlright. Iโve already arranged a VIP room at the hospital, and the essentials were sent over. We can go now.โ
Natalie helped Zoe bundle up with a hat and mask, slung on a backpack, and supported her as they headed downstairs toward the hospital.
Across the street, Jasmine sat by her window, scrolling on her phone while keeping an eye on Zoeโs building.
She hadnโt expected Zoe to head out today; she thought thereโd be a few more days before the baby arrived.
When she saw Natalie carefully escorting Zoe to the hospital across the street, her eyes gleamed with sinister excitement.
Jasmine had an ace up her sleeve. Her aunt Madison worked at this very hospital. If she could get her hands on Zoeโs baby, it would be the perfect leverage to extort a substantial sum.
After all, Zoe had chosen to give birth in secret, hiding the babyโs existence from Jason.
Jasmine immediately messaged Madison, setting her plan in motion before heading downstairs for dinner.
Zoe settled into her private room and waited for her labor to progress.
The doctor had already examined her and determined she was an excellent candidate for a natural delivery.
By seven in the evening, Natalie had prepared a simple dinner and brought it over. The two ate together as Zoeโs contractions intensified, beads of sweat dotting her forehead.
Zoe was determined to conserve her strength for the delivery.
She knew from all the advice sheโd read that screaming would only sap her energy, so she silently endured the pain.
Natalie kept an eye on the clock and handed Zoe a pill. โZoe, take this. Itโll help ease the pain.โ
Trusting Natalie completely, Zoe took the medication and resumed pacing the room, trying to manage the contractions that came in waves. The pain was nearly unbearable at times, and Zoe wiped away her tears, struggling to hold it together.
โNatalie, it really hurts,โ Zoe admitted, wiping the sweat from her brow. Despite the pain, she managed a faint smile.
Natalieโs heart ached for her. โHang in there, Zoe. Itโs going to hurt, but once itโs over, the pain will be gone. Youโre doing great! Your little oneโs going to be so adorable.โ
Zoe smiled through the agony.
โOkay,โ she whispered, laughing softly despite the pain.
Outside the room, Jasmine stood by the door, her phone held up discreetly. She was recording the entire scene, her movements careful and calculated.
