Chapter 357
Upon hearing Octavianโs shocked tone, a flash of malice appeared in Jenniferโs eyes. โOctavian, I said Iโm pregnantโwith your child.โ
Octavian replied, โThatโs impossible. Iโve always been careful. How can you be carrying my child?โ
โIโve only been with you for the past few months; there havenโt been any other men. The child must be yours. During our first sex, you were in such a rush that we didnโt use protection. Donโt you remember?โ
Jennifer wanted to see how Octavian felt. If he denied the child, she had ways to deal with him.
Thinking through her options, she decided that entangling Natalie wouldnโt work; provoking her would only make her reveal all of Jenniferโs past schemes.
Although Khloe managed to escape, Tiana still has evidence that Jennifer and Khloe conspired against Vance.
Octavian looked anxious. โJennifer, weโre at a crucial point in our careers. If it gets out that youโre pregnant with my child, it would ruin us. Plus, the production needs another month to finish. Canโt we just forget this child?โ
Octavian was cautious; he had slept with many leading ladies, but this was his only mistake. He remembered that dayโhe had been reckless without protection in the bathroom and again on the windowsill. That evening, he had been drinking and forgot to be careful.
Jennifer gripped her phone tightly, frustration rising. She shut her eyes, wondering why she hadnโt found a man who would treat her well.
Easton had cared for her once; had she stood by him when he was hurt, perhaps he would still be devoted to her.
The more she thought, the deeper her sadness grew.
Jennifer said, โLetโs find a place tomorrow to talk. I am indeed pregnant with your child; if you still doubt me, Iโll give birth and we can do a paternity test.โ
โFine! Iโll call you tomorrow at noon. Weโll have filming then, so we can find a quiet spot to talk.โ
After ending the call, Jennifer got another call from Oliver. โWhat did you find out?โ she asked.
Oliver replied, โOctavian was the illegitimate son of Kintarโs richest magnate, but Octavianโs mom married into the family this year and heโs no longer an illegitimate child. Octavianโs dad brought him into the entertainment business. Heโs as wealthy as Easton.โ
A thrill of joy shot through Jennifer; she was glad she told Oliver to investigate Octavian. โOliver, are you sure your investigation is solid? We have to be careful; we canโt take risks.โ
Octavianโs background was a mystery; even the director didnโt know where he came from. He had made huge strides in the entertainment world over the past two years.
Oliver continued, โI followed him all day and asked his assistant. The assistant said Octavian visited the Kintar tycoon several times but never acknowledged his identity in public.โ
Jennifer felt a bit uneasy. โOliver, just to be safe, please double-check this.โ
โAre you really ready to go down this path? Do you no longer want Master?โ
โItโs Master who doesnโt want me. If he truly loved me, he wouldnโt want me to tempt Octavian,โ Jennifer replied sharply.
Then a thought hit her, maybe Master had known Octavianโs true identity all along.
After all these years, maybe it was time to wake up; Master had never really cared for her. She needed to focus on herself; marrying into a rich family was still her main goal.
Now, she had fulfilled her Momโs wish, making Camellia the real Mrs. Simpson, fully freeing herself from Wendyโs control.
Her relationship with Master was only a business deal.
Oliver said, โMaster cares about you, but heโs not free; he canโt even be seen in public. Youโve both supported each other to get here. Are you truly ready to let go?โ
Oliver saw Jennifer as a woman full of mixed feelings.
She could be gentle and sweet or act like a powerful woman. Her moods changed quickly, leading to her own inner struggles.
Frustrated and offended, Jennifer shouted, โOliver, does Master already know who Octavian is?โ
โI canโt say for sure; I just found out today.โ
Jennifer scoffed. โAs you can see, Master now keeps everything from me.โ
โBefore you act on impulse, let me call Master and ask; there might just be a misunderstanding between you two,โ Oliver suggested before hanging up.
Sitting on her bed, Jennifer let her tears fall quietly.
She truly didnโt understand why everything felt out of control.
That night, Natalie slept uncomfortably, haunted by dreams of her tragic end.
โNatalie, go die!โ Eastonโs harsh voice woke her from sleep.
โPlease, no!โ Sitting up, she looked around, feeling confused.
Natalie thought, โWhy am I dreaming again?โ
It had been a while since she had any dreams at all.
She closed her eyes and sat up slowly. Grabbing her phone from the bedside table, she checked the timeโit was already eight oโclock.
Taking a deep breath, she got up to wash her face. Once freshened up, she went downstairs to make breakfast for Easton. As she made noise in the kitchen, Easton pushed open the door. Dressed in a comfy white sweater, he leaned against the staircase, watching Natalie work in the kitchen, a smile forming on his lips.
Moments later, Natalie came out with breakfast. She looked up and saw Easton there.
He stood at the bottom of the stairs, but today he looked different.
In his white sweater, he felt warm instead of the cold intensity he usually had, and his features looked gentler.
Natalie was momentarily surprised; it had been ages since she had seen this side of Easton.
During the six months when he couldnโt see, she often dressed him in casual outfits to soften his icy demeanor and make him feel more approachable. When he smiled, he shone with warmth like a little sun.
Memories of the past came rushing back.
โCome down for breakfast,โ Natalie said.
Hearing her, Easton looked a bit surprised. โAlright!โ
He came down gracefully, saw his favorite meal, and smiled, saying, โThank you!โ
Natalie paused, watching him eat so elegantly, feeling disbelief. โDid Easton just thank me?โ
After breakfast, Easton took Natalie to her office, and all day, she felt uplifted.
In the afternoon, Easton returned to take her to the party. She snapped back to reality, realizing she had been working even in the car.
Arriving at the entrance, Easton said, โNatalie, weโre here.โ
โJust a sec,โ she replied, quickly shutting her laptop.
They got out of the car and walked towards the grand hall.
Wendy was there too, overhearing Jennifer talk to Camellia. โMom, tonightโs party is amazing; Iโll show you around.โ
Wendy asked, โJennifer, what did you just call her?โ
