Chapter 365
Natalie politely declined. โIโm sorry, Ms. Tompson. Thereโs nothing left to discuss between us. Our paths have diverged. Letโs just part ways and wish each other well.โ
She had already said what needed to be said and done what needed to be done.
Wendy brought her into this world. To pay back the debt for the life she was given, after they went separate ways, Natalie told Wendy the fact that Nick had another woman and Jennifer was his flesh and blood with that woman.
Wendy knew Natalie would never forgive her. But she really wanted to thank her. In a quiet voice, she said, โThank you for telling me about Nick.โ
Natalie shook her head and replied, โNo need to thank me. I should be the one thanking you for bringing me into this world. When I told you the truth, it was to repay the debt of your carrying me for ten months.โ
Wendy wept quietly, finally understanding. If not for that debt, she would have remained unaware. It wasnโt until the company was swallowed up by Jennifer and her four sons were killed that she would finally learn the truth.
Natalie watched Wendy cry without any emotion; her love for them had already been exhausted in her past life.
Wendy suddenly blocked Natalieโs path and softly asked, โNatalie, do you really refuse to forgive me? I know I was wrong.โ
Natalie sneered as she looked at the tears streaming down Wendyโs face. Natalie resembled Wendy by at least fifty percent, inheriting her captivating, beautifully shaped eyes.
Natalie replied, โCan anyone forgive a biological mother who once wanted to kill them? Mrs. Simpson, youโve already killed me once, and I paid you back. I will never forgive you. Please remember this and stop interfering in my life.โ
Forgiveness just wasnโt an option.
In Natalieโs previous life, Wendy could have stopped Easton from killing Natalie. But as Natalieโs biological mother, Wendy chose to abandon Natalie for the sake of the family, her four sons, and Jennifer.
โWhat?โ Wendy asked in disbelief, shaking her head in pain. She said, โNatalie, I didnโt do that. Natalie, did you misunderstand something?โ
โMisunderstanding?โ Natalie asked and shook her head with a slight laugh. She said, โNo misunderstanding. Because without my warning, you really would have killed me for your beloved adopted daughter.
โI reminded you for my own survival, so please donโt disturb my life anymore.โ Her voice was icy cold, like the frost at the peak of a snowy mountain.
Wendy was stunned and looked at Natalie with tearful eyes. Thinking about how she had hurt Natalie because of Jennifer before, she realized what Natalie said was right.
If she didnโt learn Jenniferโs true color, she would end up killing Natalie with her own hands, and then sheโd be taken down by Jennifer.
Wendy thought, โJenniferโs scheme is malicious. Yet why did I seem so enchanted by Jennifer, defending her so fervently? I was so biased, always giving Jennifer affection while acting like Natalie didnโt exist.
โJennifer was exceptional and charming, and she knew exactly how to win me over. In comparison, Natalie always bullied Jennifer. So I naturally helped Jennifer.โ
Natalie sneered, โHave you figured it out now? Parental favoritism is like a snake; your bias made Jennifer even worse at hurting me because she always knew youโd unconditionally blame me and defend her.
โIsnโt it normal for venomous people to raise a few snakes?โ These words struck a nerve.
Wendy was so enraged she stepped back a few paces, nearly losing her balance.
Luckily, Easton, with quick reflexes, stepped in to steady Wendy.
Natalie didnโt even glance at Easton, turning away to leave with Murray.
Easton watched Natalie walk away, lips tightly pressed. He sneered coldly, wondering who Natalie would choose between Murray and Maurice. Would she really pick those two guys over him?
Wendy watched helplessly as Natalie left. Seeing that the person supporting her was Easton, she was furious. She said, โEaston, is this what you and Jennifer wanted? My family is destroyed. I beg you, please let Natalie go.โ
Wendy clung desperately to Eastonโs hand, almost ready to kneel before him. She thought, โNatalie wants a divorce because she knows Easton will also hurt her!
Eastonโs eyes flashed with coldness. He replied, โMs. Tompson, what nonsense are you talking about? Why should I let Natalie go? I havenโt done anything to her. I didnโt interfere with your companyโs issues, so why did you say that to everyone just now?โ
Wendy sneered and pushed Easton away. She said, โEaston, youโd give your life for Jennifer. Without your help, could she have taken over my company?โ
With a mocking smile, Easton said, โMs. Tompson, Iโm not the type to do such despicable things. I had no part in Jennifer taking over your company.โ
Wendy replied, โEven if you werenโt involved, then divorce Natalie. I know youโve always wanted to marry Jennifer. You love Jennifer as your life depends on it. So marry her sooner, and you two can live happily ever after. Please set Natalie free.โ
Tears streamed down Wendyโs face; this was the only thing she could do for Natalie. She continued, โEaston, I took care of your mom back then. Canโt you just let Natalie go, for old times sake?โ
Back then, when the company was in crisis, Vernon specifically wanted Natalie to marry into the Garcia family, and Jennifer bailed.
At that time, Wendy was partial to Jennifer. So she just watched Natalie jump into the fire pit, even pushing her in herself. Easton sneered, โMs. Tompson, mind your own business. What goes on between my wife and me is none of your concern.โ He thought, โIn this lifetime, I will never let go of Natalie. I will make Natalie love me like she used to.โ
Wendy was sobbing uncontrollably, helplessly watching Easton walk away.
Natalie was having dinner with Murray.
Natalie enjoyed the steak tonight; it was very good. She had a piece and drank a glass of water. Then, she stopped eating. She thought, โI canโt eat anymore; I have been overindulging lately and have gained weight.โ
Murray looked at Natalie and asked, โNatalie, why did you only eat one piece of steak? Can one piece really fill you up?โ
Natalie furrowed her brows and said, โItโs winter now.โ
Murray was puzzled, his eyes quietly fixed on Natalie, He asked, curious, โWhatโs so special about winter?โ
Natalie was distressed. She said, โI always seem to gain a few pounds every winter.โ
Murray laughed out loud when he heard this. He said, โNatalie, youโre so funny. Youโre already skinny, and you still want to diet. Have you heard the wind outside? Lose a couple more pounds, and it might blow you away.โ
Murray remarked inside. Sheโs so skinny, yet she wants to diet.
Natalie touched her belly and shook her head. She said, โNo, you canโt tempt me again. Go ahead and eat yours. I donโt want to gain weight. Itโs already tough to lose even a couple of pounds Iโm not eating.โ
Murray picked up a shrimp and was about to place it in Natalieโs bowl. Suddenly, a hand stopped him.
