Chapter 92
Afraid that she was hallucinating, Natalie pinched the back of her hand hard, and blood drew from her sun-kissed skin.
Seeing the blood and feeling the pain, she choked up. โIt hurts. Iโm not dreaming.โ
Easton was speechless.
Natalie looked at Easton, feeling it was just too creepy to wake up to find a big man standing by her bed and staring at her.
โEaston, why are you here? This is my room. Why do you show up here so early in the morning? It is impolite. Donโt you know anything about personal boundaries between men and women?โ asked Natalie.
He stayed faithful to Jennifer and had never had a close relationship with her after they got married. Besides, he rarely went into her room either.
It was only six months later that he had a close relationship with her when he got drunk, which led to her getting pregnant. A year later, they both lost their lives.
In this life, she wouldnโt harm the child she was destined not to meet.
As long as she divorced Easton, she wouldnโt hurt her baby.
She and the baby wouldnโt be crushed anymore.
Easton sat on a stool nearby and explained coolly, โBecause this is the property of the Garcia family, and Iโm your husband.โ
Natalie was shocked and speechless. โEven if itโs your property, you canโt just enter a customerโs room at random. If it were another woman, youโd probably be at the police station by now.โ
Natalie didnโt look at Eastonโs face and just rubbed her eyes.
Easton watched her rub her eyes in her panic and realized how cute she was. She was cute and confident.
It was the first time he had seen Natalie get up, and he found her adorable.
At home, she always dressed appropriately.
These days, she can sleep until she naturally wakes up, not having to get up at six to make breakfast for him.
Wendy was right; Natalie has given a lot.
Jennifer didnโt have to do anything, yet she got his favor.
Jennifer grew up with him and even saved him during that big fire. He was grateful to Jennifer.
Before Natalie showed up, Jennifer was his supposed future fiancรฉe.
The answer was yet to be discovered whether it was Jennifer who saved him back then.
Easton didnโt answer her questions. He came to ask her something.
Natalie suddenly remembered about the divorce today.
She was speechless, placing her hands on the quilt. The spot she had pinched was bruised now.
Easton stared at her and thought, โIs she dumb to hurt herself like this?โ
Natalie huffed angrily. โEaston, Iโve already agreed to the divorce and signed the papers. I wonโt go back on my word, so thereโs no need to drag me out early for it.โ
She tossed the blanket aside and got out of bed. โWait a second. Iโll change my clothes, and then we'll go to the courthouse together.โ
Natalie hadnโt slept enough and yawned as she walked. It was probably past eight now. There was still time to go back. She signed. Previously, Easton was eager to divorce, yet he didnโt complete the final procedures himself.
Natalie went to the bathroom to freshen up.
Easton sat upright in his chair. He hadnโt slept at all last night.
Wendyโs words were echoing loudly in his ears.
Easton didnโt overlook everything Natalie did for him.
The problem was that Natalie always seemed to clash with Jennifer.
Easton frowned as he looked out the window. The sea was deep blue, and his eyes were thoughtful. He was lost in his own world.
Natalie was dressed in just over ten minutes. When she came out, Easton was still looking out the window. His profile was striking.
She had to admit Easton was incredibly handsome with an outstanding presence. Any woman who saw him couldnโt help but feel drawn to him.
Natalie succumbed to his handsome allure when she was 17 years old, falling for him with no way to retreat.
A strange sadness filled her heart, for she was willing to give her all to this man. She once truly loved him and loved him with all her heart.
โMr. Garcia, Iโm ready now. Shall we get our divorce license?โ she called out calmly.
Easton snapped back to reality, meeting her calm gaze. Suddenly, an inexplicable anger surged within him. He jumped to his feet, his eyes blazing with fire.
Natalie froze, sensing a murderous intent!
The overwhelming anger seemed ready to overwhelm her. She stepped back.
Easton sneered. โWhat? You poisoned my mother, and now youโre looking for a divorce to get rid of me?โ
Natalie paused and suddenly understood what he was talking about.
Natalie thought, โActually, his momโฆ Forget it. I couldnโt tell him yet.โ
โYou were the one who diagnosed her with mental illness and personally sent her to a psychiatric hospital. Why are you accusing me of poisoning her?โ Natalie said.
It seemed that Jennifer set her up again last night as she was absent.
Natalie thought, โEaston is such an idiot; he canโt even protect his own mom. How can he protect anyone else?โ
Easton looked at her closely and smiled mockingly. โBut I have proof that you poisoned my mom. My mom really has gone insane.โ
Natalieโs heart ached instantly, and she let out a bitter laugh. โEaston, youโve never trusted me. If you think I did it, then thatโs the truth for you.โ
She had long ago realized he wouldnโt believe her and didnโt even bother to argue at this moment.
Easton, you would never know how far your mom went to protect you and the reason your mom was willing to cut ties with you just to keep Jennifer out of your family.
Natalie sneered. โEaston, youโre such an idiot, a complete fool.โ
Easton stood there silent and faced with her tirade.
Natalie picked up her purse from the table and said in a cold and commanding tone, โLetโs go. Weโre getting a divorce.โ
Easton clenched his fists and glared at her. โNatalie, why arenโt you explaining? Before, you always had solid proof to clear your name and show that it wasnโt you.โ
Natalieโs eyes were charming when she smiled. โEaston, if you think I did it, then take your evidence to the police and report me. I donโt want to waste my breath on a fool like you.โ
โNatalie, youโฆโ Easton was shocked.
โAre we getting a divorce or not?โ Natalie pressed, losing her patience.
Easton looked at her, seeing her exhaustion in her beautiful eyes. She was too tired to even argue.
โNatalie, did you forget what I said? To me, thereโs no such thing as divorce, only becoming a widow.โ
Natalie was incredulous. โIf youโre not divorcing me, why did you come all the way here and show up in my room early in the morning? Are you afraid that Iโll run off and not go with you to get divorced?โ
โEaston, are you even a man? Can you stand people calling Jennifer the other woman? You love her so much,โ added Natalie!
โCan you bear to have people talk behind her back? Werenโt you planning to divorce me? Why do you always back out at the last minute? Jennifer even invited you over to the Simpson residence last night to celebrate our divorce,โ added Natalie.
Natalie felt helpless; no matter what she did, it was wrong.
Easton spoke in a calm voice, โI never said anything like that to her.โ
Natalie unlocked her phone and played the recording from yesterday. โNatalie, you should come back tonight and get that divorce. Easton said he wants to finalize it tonight. Iโm afraid youโll say I bully you again if youโre not present.โ
Natalie teased with a radiant smile. โMr. Insane, listen to what your nagging wife is saying.โ
Easton furrowed his brows and asked in confusion, โWho are Mr. Insane and his nagging wife?โ
