Chapter 64
Sebastian carefully placed Daphne in the passenger seat, fastened her seatbelt, and hurriedly drove toward the hospital. Garry’s office building was in a bustling area, conveniently close to a large hospital. While driving, Sebastian contacted the doctors, ensuring there would be no delay in treating Daphne.
Ten minutes later, Sebastian arrived at the VIP ward, carrying Daphne in his arms. He gently placed her on the hospital bed. The doctor efficiently conducted an initial examination before reassuringly saying, “Mr. Turner, your girlfriend doesn’t have any serious injuries. We’ll perform a CT scan to continue…”
Sebastian relaxed slightly after hearing the doctor’s words. Looking at Daphne on the bed, he gently brushed her hair and said in a soothing tone, as if comforting a child, “It’s okay. The doctors say you’re fine. I’ll take you home after the next check.”
Daphne couldn’t remember falling asleep. When she opened her eyes, she was in her apartment bed, the headache significantly lessened. Hearing faint noises from outside the bedroom, she got up to check and found Sebastian busy in the kitchen.
After the hurt inflicted by Wilson, seeing someone tenderly caring for her stirred a mix of bitterness and sadness in her heart. She exhaled quickly, then looked at Sebastian’s back with heartfelt sincerity. “Sebastian, thank you for showing up in time today. You saved me again.”
“Sit and rest for a while. The soup isn’t ready yet,” he said without turning, his hands still chopping vegetables. “You’d better avoid going out alone from now on. I don’t want anything happening to my future wife before I get to marry her. Besides, you promised to help me take Wilson down, so don’t back out.”
Daphne nodded firmly. “Don’t worry. I’ll be extra cautious from now on and won’t let myself get into danger again.”
“From now on, call me immediately if anything happens, no matter when or where. Got it?”
After dinner, Sebastian stayed to care for Daphne until she fell asleep before leaving.
The next morning, Daphne woke up feeling much better. The pain had subsided significantly unless she pressed directly on the injured spot. Taking advantage of her recovery, she quickly called Zoey. “Zozo, take a GoPro with you today and secretly record the entire process of picking up and delivering the haute couture piece. Don’t let anyone notice. I’m worried that troublemaker might try something again.”
“Got it, Daph.”
The red carpet for the Joy Fashion event was on Saturday evening, and Daphne hadn’t expected Wilson to stir up so much trouble beforehand. With less than two days to go, she realized her schedule wasn’t overly tight, but it wasn’t leisurely either. She needed to be in Quartzville by Friday night.
As she lounged on the couch, organizing her plans, she heard the door unlock. Sebastian entered, carrying several food containers from her favorite restaurant. He skillfully arranged the dishes on elegant plates and called her over. “Come eat.”
Already accustomed to being cared for like this, Daphne naturally sat at the dining table, waiting for him to serve her. Scanning the dishes, she noticed they were all her favorites.
“Not bad, you’re very thoughtful,” she praised.
After a satisfying meal, Sebastian cleaned up in the kitchen while Daphne answered a call from Ava.
“Daph, I’ll pick you up at 3:00 pm to go to Moon Studio for a makeup trial. Also, I’ve booked a flight for 6:00 pm tomorrow. We’ll reach Quartzville around 8:00 pm, giving you some…”
“Got it, Ava. I’ll follow your arrangements.”
