Chapter 66

Wilson let Yvonne stay with him? And right next door, no less?

Daphne’s disdain deepened.

“Yvonne, save your childish bragging. To me, he’s nothing but a brainless fool. Do you think I still care about him? He’s trash I’ve already tossed away. Only someone like you would treasure him as if he were something special.”

Daphne stood up from the balcony and shot Yvonne a cold glance.

“By the way, I haven’t forgotten how you twisted the truth to Wilson and incited him to come after me. Let me give you some advice—don’t provoke me before this event is over. Don’t try any tricks. Otherwise, I can’t guarantee I won’t lose my mind in front of the media. My mental state’s been wonderfully unpredictable lately.”

Not giving Yvonne a chance to retort, Daphne turned and walked back into her room. She wouldn’t let herself be easily affected by that despicable couple anymore, but she had no intention of staying close to them either.

Without hesitation, Daphne went downstairs and requested a room change to ensure she wouldn’t have to overhear any more vile nonsense. That night, she slept soundly and without dreams.

The next morning, the sun shone brightly, the sky and sea merging into a serene horizon. Daphne felt refreshed and stretched lazily. After completing her morning exercises, she met with the styling team.

The red carpet event started at 3:00 p.m., with the less prominent celebrities going first. As an A-lister, Daphne’s slot was scheduled between 5:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., giving her ample time to prepare. The team worked efficiently and with ease, ensuring every detail was perfect.

Once her makeup and styling were complete, they moved to the pre-arranged photography site set up by the event’s photography team. At such high-profile events, photos often had to be taken and edited in advance. Daphne was a consummate professional—cooperative and approachable—which made her a favorite among her colleagues.

By the time they wrapped up, Daphne checked her phone. The event had only just begun, less than 30 minutes in. Zoey sent a photo of Yvonne’s look for the day, asking Daphne to give it a final review.

Daphne zoomed in on the image and scrutinized it closely. Finally, she responded, “Excellent work, Zoey. You’re getting better and better. Proud of you.”

The event had an official live broadcast, and Daphne, wary of Yvonne’s antics, decided to keep a close eye on the stream while waiting backstage. When it was Yvonne’s turn to walk the red carpet, Daphne enlarged the screen.

The haute couture gown that Garrys had lent to Yvonne, out of respect for Daphne, wasn’t the one Yvonne was wearing today. At first glance, it looked identical, but the cut and material were glaringly inferior compared to the craftsmanship expected of couture. In the entertainment industry, Yvonne was already considered plain. Her figure lacked standout appeal, and she was short, which was why Garrys had selected a short, strapless pink and white gown to better suit her.

In that instant, Daphne understood what had happened. Sure enough, this fool had swapped out the real couture gown, likely aiming to frame Zoey. The gown Yvonne was wearing today was an obvious counterfeit. An industry professional would spot it immediately.

She gasped. Ava, noticing her expression, quickly asked, “What’s wrong, Daphne?”

“Ava, can you tell what’s wrong with Yvonne’s gown?!”

While Ava watched the stream, Daphne quickly explained how the Garrys haute couture gown Zoey had borrowed for Yvonne ended up switched.

“The material of that dress is clearly not from Garrys. The reason haute couture stands out is because of its impeccable craftsmanship and top-notch materials.”
