Chapter 165 Until An Agreement Is Reached
In just a short while, Madelyn made significant progress.
At first, Maxton didnโt pay much attention, casually strolling around nearby. He even went to get coffee for both of them.
Upon his return, he saw Madelynโs shot had hit the sixth ring.
Maxton couldnโt help but furrow his brows in puzzlement, thinking to himself, โWow, she picks up really fast.โ
What was even more terrifying was that each subsequent bullet from Madelyn was more accurate than the last, hinting at a near bullโs-eye.
Maxton was sure she would hit bullโs-eye soon if she kept that up.
Maxton couldnโt help but recall that he had spent an entire day training just to hit the bullโs-eye back in the day!
Yet, in less than two hours, Madelyn was already not far from the bullโs-eye.
What did this imply? It indicated that Madelyn had an extraordinary talent in shooting, unlike any others!
At that moment, Jillian, who was watching from the side, was full of exclamations. โWow, Madelyn, youโre really amazing!โ
Bang! No sooner had the words been spoken, Madelyn fired a shot that hit the bullโs-eye.
Maxton watched the scene unfold in surprise. He found it hard to believe how quickly Madelyn had learned how to use a gun.
This girl, not bad at allโฆ
Madelyn was even more surprised that she had actually hit the bullโs-eye just like that!
Instantly, joy made her leap up, โI actually hit the target? I, I hit it!โ
Following that, she lifted her hand, pulling the trigger and fired another shot.
This shot, however, flew straight up into the skyโฆ
โAhโฆโ Madelynโs heart, which had just soared to the heavens, suddenly plummeted to the depths. โIt seems I am still out of practice. Hitting the mark every time is impossible.โ
โTake a break first,โ Maxton stepped forward at this point, offering a cup of coffee and a sandwich.
Then, with patience, he said, โShooting is about the feel you have in your hand, not luck. Today is your first time handling a gun; itโs still unfamiliar to you. Rome wasnโt built in a day, so itโs perfectly normal if your shots are off. Donโt be discouraged.โ
Maxton watched from the side, a faint smile on his lips. โIf your hands are numb, you should take a break. Thereโs no rush at the moment. From now on, you can practice on your own every day."
Upon hearing this, Madelyn nodded in a serious manner. โThank you, Maxton.โ
Maxtonโฆ
Upon hearing his name, Maxton felt a peculiar sensation in his heart, even though Madelyn had only mentioned it casually.
Madelyn noticed that it was getting late. She chuckled and suggested, โItโs getting late, how about we have dinner together? Itโs my treat.โ
โSure,โ Jillian agreed.
Maxton gave a slight nod, inexplicably finding himself agreeing.
The trio chatted as they readied to depart.
At that moment, a sudden commotion echoed from not too far away. It seemed like two groups of people were engaged in some sort of dispute, leading to a conflict.
Madelyn had no intention of getting involved in such matters. However, upon hearing one of the voices, she inexplicably found it strangely familiar.
And so, driven by curiosity, she leaned over to peek.
Whoโd have thought itโd be Josiah?
Josiah, Mason, and Xander were cornered against a wall by a group of arrogant thugs. From the looks of it, it seemed like they were being forced to give up their territory.
โKid, if you know whatโs good for you, I suggest you peacefully clear out from this place! Save yourself from a beating!โ
The one who spoke was a big fellow, massive in size. At first glance, he was quite intimidating.
However, as the son of the Blume family, Josiah wasnโt intimidated.
Having been rebellious since childhood, no one could control him if he were to act recklessly, let alone the stubborn guy before him.
He scoffed, his words dripping with contempt. โYou lot, do you really think youโre that special? Daring to mess with me; it seems like youโre seeking death!โ
โYou little brat, I dare you to say that again.โ It was clear that the group was also infuriated.
Madelyn watched the group of people, suddenly recalling that they seemed to be a notorious gang known for their brawling habits. They were notoriously aggressive in their everyday lives.
If these two were to start fighting, even if it wouldnโt result in death, theyโd at least end up in the hospital for a good couple of weeks!
Naturally, Madelyn had no plans to just stand by and watch.
At that moment, Jillian recognized Josiah and exclaimed, โMadelyn, isnโt that the guy who raced with you that day?โ
โItโs him,โ Madelyn stated calmly.
Upon hearing this, Maxton grew confused. How did Madelyn know those troublemakers?
As she was pondering, Madelyn suddenly turned her head toward Maxton, making a request. โCoach Wendel, we might need your assistance later. My friend has run into a bit of troubleโฆโ
Upon hearing this, Maxtonโs gaze shifted to Josiah. โYouโre talking about the lad in blue, arenโt you?โ
โRight! Itโs him.โ Madelyn nodded.
โWhat do you plan to repay me with?โ Maxton suddenly offered a mysterious smile.
โHuh?โ Madelyn was baffled.
Maxton, however, had already regained his composure. โItโs nothing,โ he reassured. โDonโt worry, Iโll help you out.โ
Upon hearing his words, Madelyn felt reassured.
At that moment, the group over there had already begun to make their move.
One of them, a bald man who seemed to be their leader, known as Baldy, stepped forward and shoved Josiah, asking arrogantly, โKid, are you going to move or not? Iโm telling you, if you donโt, none of you are getting out of here alive today.โ
Upon hearing those words, Josiah let out a scornful chuckle. โI already told you, Iโm not moving.โ
โReally?โ Baldyโs eyes widened. Without wasting any more words, he made a swift hand gesture. โIf theyโre unwilling to give in, then letโs teach them a lesson! Keep going until these youngsters agree!โ
โUnderstood!โ
Upon hearing the command from the bald man, the people behind him immediately rolled up their sleeves and advanced forward as an intimidating crowd.
Josiah was never one to shy away from trouble. He addressed his comrades behind him. โMason and Xander, weโve always had a rule. We donโt bother those who donโt bother us, but if someone crosses us, we eliminate them! Today, these arrogant fools dare to stir up trouble on our turf; letโs show them what weโre made of!โ
โAgreed!โ A chorus of voices echoed in unison; their collective energy oozed an undeniable dominance.
Suddenly, both sides found themselves in a standoff, neither afraid of the other.
As the fight was about to break out, Madelyn seized the opportunity. In a soft voice, she commanded, โGo!โ
Three figures immediately rushed forward.
