Chapter 169 Cover It Up

Silence filled the scene for a moment.

Sebastian furrowed his brows, his gaze steady yet unfocused, seemingly lost in the recollection of the events from the previous night.

Madelyn studied him with keen interest, showing no signs of rush, quietly appreciating his expressions.

His sensitive eyebrows remained furrowed, his lips pressed into a straight line, and his gaze was notably more profound than usual. All in all, his expression was somewhat grave.

Later on, he even seemed somewhat flustered and disoriented as he thought about something.

After a long while, Sebastian finally lifted his head to look at Madelyn with anxiety. โ€œIโ€ฆโ€

โ€œHmm?โ€ Madelyn grinned. โ€œWhatโ€™s wrong with you?โ€

โ€œIโ€ฆ Iโ€ฆ Iโ€ฆโ€ Sebastian stammered for quite some time, yet he couldnโ€™t utter a single word.

It was truly bizarre. Sebastian couldnโ€™t remember a thing about what happened last night. Yet, he felt like he was caught redโ€“handed in a scandalous act.

Madelynโ€™s intriguing gaze especially made him feel strangely anxious.

For a moment, Sebastian felt a pang of guilt, yet he was at a loss for how to explain.

After staring at him for a while, Madelyn was unable to hold back her laughter. โ€œForget it. You canโ€™t even form a complete sentence. I forgive you, for I am a magnanimous woman. Besides, you were drunk at that time, werenโ€™t you? You didnโ€™t know what happened, so how could you explain anything? Considering that, Iโ€™ll let this slide.โ€

Madelynโ€™s smile was radiant and dazzling, much like the sunlight streaming in through the window. It was as refreshing as a spring breeze, bringing about an utmost sense of comfort.

While Madelyn didnโ€™t mind, Sebastian was somewhat perplexed.

Based on Madelynโ€™s previously domineering nature, he was certain she wouldnโ€™t have let things go without causing a huge commotion.

As such, he was confounded that she forgave him that easily.

As Sebastian thought about that, he slightly furrowed his brows and asked with a hint of surprise, โ€œDo you really trust me?โ€

โ€œYouโ€™re my husband. Of course I trust you,โ€ Madelyn said, her smile sweet.

She was well aware of Sebastianโ€™s feelings for her, so she naturally wouldnโ€™t harbor any doubts.

However, she still pouted aggrievedly slightly. โ€œHowever, you canโ€™t do this again. Next time you go out for drinks or anything, remember to tell me. Even if youโ€™re drunk, I can come and pick you up. I donโ€™t want to see another woman bringing you home in the middle of the night again, understand?โ€

However, she didnโ€™t want to be at a disadvantage like that.

Since Harriet dared to leave a kiss mark on Sebastian to provoke her, she had to retaliate.

With that thought, Madelyn suddenly threw herself onto Sebastian, planting a big kiss on his neck.

A distinctly visible red kiss mark was then left on his fair neck.

โ€œAll right, mission accomplished.โ€ Madelyn gazed at the kiss mark, expressing her satisfaction. โ€œThis mark will serve as your punishment for what happened last night, and you are not allowed to cover it up at the office today. Understand?โ€

She spoke as though she was a child chastising an adult, inexplicably adorable.

There was nothing Sebastian could do. After all, he was the one who brought her back, so he had no choice but to comply.

Following that, Madelyn contentedly went off to freshen up.

After Sebastian arrived at the company in the morning, Malcolm promptly came into the office to greet him.

โ€œGood morning, Mr. Lockhart.โ€ After speaking, Malcolm lifted his head, only to be instantly taken aback.

His gaze fell on the kiss mark planted on Sebastianโ€™s fair neck. It couldnโ€™t be any more obvious.

Anyone with discerning eyes could easily infer that Sebastian must have spent a passionate night yesterday!

With those thoughts in mind, even Malcolm couldnโ€™t help but blush.

He cautiously asked, โ€œMr. Lockhart, thereโ€™s a meeting coming up shortly. Would you like to cover up the mark on your neck?โ€

โ€œNo need,โ€ Sebastian stated almost instantly.

Though Malcolm thought it was a tad awkward, Sebastian had already spoken, leaving him no choice but to comply. โ€œAll right, Iโ€™ll go and announce the meeting then.โ€

After speaking, Malcolm left.

Ten minutes later, the meeting took place as scheduled.

Wesley and Harriet had indeed arrived. They were surprised by the distinct, bright red mark on Sebastianโ€™s neck.

In an instant, both of their expressions shifted.

Wesley especially reacted as if he had discovered a new world. His pupils dilated, and his eyebrows were raised high. My goodness, heโ€™s really been messed up by that woman! Everyone knows heโ€™s a rather reserved individual, but that kiss mark! Gosh, the things people would imagine! This is shocking! What kind of bewitching spell had Madelyn cast on him?

After a slight change in her expression, Harriet regained her professional composure.

Upon witnessing that scene, the executives at the side were flushed with embarrassment. They didnโ€™t dare to take another glance at Sebastian.

In their minds, they sighed, marveling at how the young were so liberal, progressive, and full of vitality!

Obviously, Sebastian, being as astute as he was, noticed the oddity in everyoneโ€™s behavior.

However, when he thought about what Madelyn told him earlier, he actually didnโ€™t attempt to hide the mark.

As such, the kiss mark was brazenly on display for the entire day.

Meanwhile, Madelyn was far from idle. The next day, she was back at the combat training center, diligently practicing her combat skills.

After finishing her training, she called Josiah, inviting him to join her for some shooting practice.

Initially, she assumed Josiah would certainly agree, but surprisingly, he kept making excuses over the phone.

โ€œMadelyn, listen here. My time is extremely valuable. Just because you asked me to accompany you doesnโ€™t mean I should. What gives you the right?โ€ As he spoke, Madelyn could almost picture his arrogant countenance.

However, all Madelyn wanted was to ask him to join her. Therefore, she spoke ingratiatingly. โ€œDonโ€™t say that. Youโ€™re a very handsome and good person. If I donโ€™t ask you, then who should I ask? Besides, arenโ€™t we friends? Consider it as doing me a small favor, will you?โ€

โ€œHold it!โ€ Josiah suddenly interjected. โ€œI admit we are friends, but Iโ€™m not some pushover who helps you with every little thing. I wonโ€™t be assisting you in this kind of trivial matter.โ€

โ€œHey, do you really have to be so ruthless?โ€ Madelyn was almost at a loss for words.

Josiah maintained his aloof demeanor. โ€œWhatever. Either way, I donโ€™t want to go. You figure it out. Iโ€™m hanging up if thereโ€™s nothing else.โ€

After saying that, he was ready to end the call.

โ€œWait!โ€ All of a sudden, Madelyn exclaimed loudly.

โ€œWhat now?โ€ Josiah was somewhat exasperated.
