Chapter 199 I Am Actually An Underachiever Too
โWho are they?โ Madelyn asked curiously.
No sooner had she spoken than she spotted two familiar figures approaching from a near distance away. Squinting, she scrutinized them. Hmm, they look like Tristan and Josiah.
Jillian also spotted the two boys and smiled faintly. It looks like thereโs no need for me to do the introductions anymore.
โJosiah?โ At that moment, Madelyn was somewhat unsure if she was seeing things. She ran out of the classroom and called out to Josiah from behind.
Hearing her voice, the two boys ahead glanced back over their shoulders. A jolt of surprise hit Madelyn. Whoa! Itโs them all right!
โTalk about a small world.โ Unexpectedly, as soon as Josiah saw her, he immediately frowned, his face a picture of irritation.
Madelyn was immediately displeased and protested, โHey, Josiah, what did you mean by that?โ
Alas, Josiah snorted coldly, turning his head away with a haughty air and ignoring her completely.
Is there a screw loose in his head? What a total conversation killer! Madelyn thought indignantly.
Luckily, there was the lively Tristan at the side. He suddenly chuckled and exclaimed, โHey, isnโt this our lady boss? Itโs been a long time, and youโve become even more beautiful.โ
Hearing his compliment, Madelyn burst into laughter on the spot, significantly easing the atmosphere.
Following that, she asked curiously, โWhy are you guys here?โ As she spoke, she suddenly felt blissful. โCould it be that youโre here to visit me? Hehe, not bad at all. It seems our friendship hasnโt been in vain.โ
โIn your dreams,โ Josiah retorted coldly upon hearing that.
Madelynโs expression instantly darkened. Would it kill you to speak to me nicely for once, Josiah, you brat?
โWhy are you guys here, then?โ Madelyn had no choice but to ask again.
After she had finished speaking, as if suddenly remembering something, she looked at Jillian in surprise. โJillian, donโt tell me theyโre the two transfer students you mentioned earlier?โ
But of course! In response, Jillian could only nod in agreement at the side.
Oh my goodness!
Madelyn was instantly taken aback. Staring at the two boys before her, she asked in disbelief, โWhy did you two transfer here?โ
This is a business school known for its strict disciplinary record. Conversely, these two are rich and spoiled brats, notorious for their lack of interest in studying and fondness for bumming around. Yet, they actually came here to study?
What? Whatโs going on here?
Madelyn looked at the two boys with an innocent expression, questioning speechlessly, โHow does this have anything to do with me?โ
โArgh!โ Seeing her innocent demeanor, Josiah grew even more infuriated.
Fortunately, Tristan was quite amiable and took it upon himself to explain, โMadelyn, you canโt blame Josiah for being upset. All of this was because you asked him to teach you shooting. That led to his transfer here.โ
โHuh?โ Madelyn was utterly confused by the explanation.
Tristan suddenly heaved a sigh. โOh well, you had no idea, but the head of the Blume family used to beg Josiah to learn shooting. However, he always refused. In the most serious case, Old Mr. Blume even threatened to end his own life. Yet, Josiah remained stubborn, unwilling to give in. Heโd rather take a severe beating than comply with his wishes.โ
Ever since then, the more pressure Josiahโs family placed on him, the more defiant he became.
When it came to shooting, he merely dabbled in it with a few of his buddies and never took it seriously.
But this time, the news of Madelyn asking Josiah to teach her shooting somehow reached Felixโs ears. He instantly felt that she was the one who had โbreathed lifeโ into his grandson and subsequently ordered an investigation into her background.
In the end, Felix was overjoyed upon finding out that Madelyn attended the business school and arranged for Josiahโs transfer that night. Without hesitation, he sent Josiah over and did the same to Tristan. He even said that he had to thank Madelyn personally, given the chance.
โThatโs the entire story.โ After elaborating at length, Tristan shrugged helplessly.
One couldnโt avoid disaster when one was unlucky, so there was nothing to be done about it.
Unexpectedly, after hearing the whole story, Madelyn suddenly clapped a hand over her mouth and burst into hysterical laughter. โHahaโฆ I canโt believe something like that actually happened. Iโm dying of laughter!โ
Her laughter was simply arrogant to the core.
Josiah was already feeling downcast. Hearing her burst into hearty laughter only added to his frustration, and he rushed forward to confront her without a second thought.
โIโm already in such a miserable state, yet you can still find it in yourself to laugh. Have you lost all sense of conscience? Iโm going all out with you today!โ While saying that, he suddenly roared before lunging forward in a frenzy.
Unfortunately for him, Madelyn trained with Maxton, a martial arts competition gold medalist.
In her eyes, his mediocre skills riddled with flaws were nothing.
So, after he had charged over, she didnโt hold back. With a few swift moves, she had him restrained.
Madelyn then unhanded him in satisfaction, laughing as she said, โThis is more like it.โ
Seeing that they had had enough fun, she also regained her composure. She started, โAll things considered, Iโd like to welcome you both as my new classmates. However, I have a piece of advice for you. Make sure to take your studies seriously and stop frittering your days away. Otherwise, there will come a time when youโll realize you donโt know anything. By then, itโll be too late to catch up.โ
Josiah rarely saw her being so solemn. Nonetheless, he couldnโt help but click his tongue. โYou make it sound so simple.โ
With a resigned shrug, Madelyn could only admit nonchalantly, โTruth be told, Iโm actually an underachiever too.โ
Upon hearing that, Josiah seemed somewhat skeptical and asked, โReally?โ
โOf course.โ Madelyn nodded firmly despite the contradictory supplemental thought in her mind. Well, that was in the past.
At that precise moment, the school bell abruptly rang.
โAlright, letโs stop the pointless chatter. Itโs time for class.โ
After Madelyn had said that, she quickly led the few of them back to the classroom.
As usual, the professor walked in with a textbook in hand. As soon as he stepped onto the podium, he began, โEveryone, the results of your last exam are out. Congratulations to Jillian for maintaining the position of first place in the entire faculty. But this time, we must specifically commend Madelyn.โ
At that point, the professor turned his gaze to Madelyn, his smiling face beaming with kindness. โMadelyn, congratulations. Your relentless hard work has earned you the impressive achievement of ranking second in the entire faculty.โ
Everyone was bewildered.
The air seemingly froze momentarily as they all stared at Madelyn incredulously. Did we mishear things?
