Chapter 219 Keep A Close Watch
At Lockhart Group, Sebastian glanced at his watch, realizing it was nearly time. He wondered what Madelyn was up to, so he decided to make a phone call to inquire. Just as he was about to do so, there was a knock at the door.
โCome in,โ Sebastian said in a cold tone.
Harriet pushed the door open and walked in.
โSebastian, you havenโt eaten yet, have you? I just went out and got you something. Itโs all your favorite dishes. Give it a try.โ Harriet placed a sky-blue thermos flask on Sebastianโs table.
At that moment, Wesley was seated on the couch, watching the scene unfold before him with a hint of disappointment in his eyes.
โThanks. Just leave it here. You can go on with your tasks,โ Sebastian glanced indifferently at the takeout boxes.
Harriet felt a bit embarrassed, but she had no intention of leaving.
Standing by the table, she couldnโt help but voice her concerns. โSebastian, I understand youโre swamped with work, but you canโt neglect your health. You should still eat something when itโs mealtime.โ
Sebastian simply hummed noncommittally, offering no further response.
The embarrassment intensified on the strikingly beautiful face of Harriet.
Just then, a bright, youthful female voice suddenly echoed from the entrance. โSebastian, Iโm sorry for keeping you waiting so long!โ
Madelyn barged into the room in a flurry.
As soon as she walked through the door, her gaze immediately fell upon the takeout boxes on the table.
After taking another look at Harriet, Madelyn immediately understood what was going on.
Harriet was surprised that Madelyn would actually show up at such a time, which instantly soured her mood considerably.
Madelyn cheerfully asked, โOh, who brought this food? It smells so good! May I have some?โ
Seeing her childlike demeanor, Sebastian had no intention of refusing. He simply nodded and said, โSure.โ
โFantastic!โ Madelyn immediately broke into a radiant smile, unabashedly opening the takeout boxes. She then picked up a fork and began to eat heartily, taking big mouthfuls of pasta.
At the same time, she could distinctly feel the murderous intent in Harrietโs eyes, which only made her laugh inwardly.
She was well aware that it was Harriet who had brought the food, and she had done it on purpose.
This is what you get for trying to take advantage of the moment!
I wonโt give you the chance to get close to Sebastian!
Madelyn had only taken a few bites before she playfully complained, โHmm, this doesnโt taste good at all. Sebastian, are you done with your work? Can we go eat now? Iโm starving!โ
Sebastian gave a subtle nod.
In truth, he had finished what he had to do a while ago; he was merely waiting for her.
He turned to Wesley and Harriet and said, โWeโll be leaving first.โ
After he finished speaking, he took Madelynโs hand and left.
It was then that Harriet realized why Sebastian never left work even after he had finished all his tasks. It turned out he had been waiting for Madelyn all along.
Her gaze shifted to the takeout boxes on the table, and her expression darkened.
Wesley swiftly stood up and volunteered, โHarriet, let me take you home.โ
Harriet put away the takeout boxes, turned around, and said coldly, โNo, thank you.โ
Ten minutes later, the young couple settled themselves in a five-star European restaurant.
After ordering a steak, Madelyn began to eat and casually started talking about the performance.
Upon hearing that she was playing the female lead, Sebastian immediately furrowed his brows. โDo you think you can handle it?โ
Doubts inevitably crept into his heart. Sheโs a bit of a daredevil. Can she really pull off such a complex character?
โWhat, are you doubting me?โ Madelyn could clearly sense Sebastianโs mistrust and immediately protested in dissatisfaction.
Sebastian gave a casual laugh. โWhat do you think?โ
โIโฆโ Madelyn had to admit she was indeed feeling a bit guilty.
After all, she had no stage experience. Her only encounter with the stage was when she was very young. Her kindergarten teacher had assigned her the role of the ugly duckling. However, for reasons unknown, she had fainted on the spot, and so the matter was left at that.
Unexpectedly, years later, Madelyn found herself shouldering this immense responsibility once again.
In truth, she was also under immense pressure.
However, even though it was tough, she had no choice but to proceed.
Madelyn encouraged herself, saying, โAlthough Iโve never tried before, I believe that as long as I put in the effort to perform, I should be able to do it.โ
Sebastianโs lips curved into a deeper, more mysterious smile as he found her increasingly endearing.
But after that, a deeper sense of melancholy washed over him.
He gave Madelyn a meaningful glance and was truly perplexed. Does she even realize that there are members of Oceanic Empire lurking in the shadows, keeping a close eye on her?
Intuition told Sebastian that Madelyn, in fact, knew.
Yet, observing her carefree and nonchalant demeanor, Sebastian found himself somewhat puzzled.
But whether she knew or not, Sebastian would spare no effort to protect her at all costs.
It was ten oโclock at night.
In a beach villa, a captivating man was seated on a couch. He was clad in a striking red outfit, holding a glass of red wine. His allure was simply indescribable.
He was the man who had previously bound Madelyn and later released her, Phantom, one of the two major assistants under Morgana.
At that moment, a subordinate was bent over in front of him, respectfully giving an update on the recent circumstances surrounding Madelyn.
According to the reports from his subordinates, Madelyn was seemingly unaffected by Oceanic Empire. She continued her usual routine of eating and drinking without a hint of panic. On the other hand, Madelynโs fiancรฉ, Sebastian, seemed to have become wary of the people from Oceanic Empire.
A smirk, filled with mischief, tugged at Phantomโs lips.
That woman is interesting.
And that man actually dares to prepare to confront Oceanic Empire. Clearly, heโs not an ordinary man.
Phantom remembered the look in Sebastianโs eyes that day had sent a chill through his heart.
Aside from Morgana, there wasnโt another person in this world who could make him shudder. Things are getting more and more interesting.
โKeep a close watch on them,โ he ordered coldly.
โUnderstood,โ the subordinate said before taking his leave.
Just then, Phantomโs phone began to ring.
An urgent international report came in. โPhantom, your partner, Nightingale, has been sent to South Atharia by Ms. Morgana for a mission. This mission is classified as Class Aโฆโ
A subtle tremor flickered in Phantomโs gaze when he learned of this piece of intelligence.
In the organization, a Class A mission was deemed to have a difficulty rating of four stars, with five stars being the highest possible rating.
Up until now, aside from Morgana, no one had ever undertaken a five-star mission.
In other words, with this mission, Nightingale was about to plunge into a perilous situation.
A sense of unease crept into Phantomโs heart. No way? That bratโs prediction canโt be true, right?
