Chapter 235 She Is Nothing But Trash

Sebastian’s gaze darkened. Biting down hard, he forced himself not to dwell on certain thoughts: not to care about the unusually soft body pressed against his, not to feel the warmth of her body… But it was challenging!

Still, the young lady was having her period and feeling relatively weak, so no matter how Sebastian felt, he would not consider laying a finger on her at this time. Fortunately, his self-control was stronger than that of most others. After enduring and suppressing his feelings repeatedly, he finally managed to quell the restless flame within his heart.

In just a short while, Madelyn had fallen asleep against his chest. The soft sounds of breathing echoed, filling the quiet room with a sense of warmth and peace. Only then did Sebastian gently move her soft body off him, lay her next to him, and thoughtfully cover her with a blanket. The corners of his mouth curved upward subtly before he reached up to turn off the light.

When morning came, the two of them got out of bed and freshened up. Then, they headed down to have breakfast together, walking hand in hand.

“Good morning, Dad,” Madelyn greeted Derek with a warm smile, instinctively ignoring Regina and Eunice, who were at the table too.

“Morning,” the older man replied coolly. Derek was pleased to see the young couple holding hands this early in the morning. “Come, have a seat and eat something.”

The two obediently sat down, their hands naturally parting from each other. Regina scoffed internally as she watched them. How shameless could they be? Meanwhile, Eunice’s eyes were clearly tinged with jealousy.

Why her? What’s so special about Madelyn that makes her worthy of such an extraordinary man like Sebastian?

When it came to weighing the attributes, she scrutinized herself and concluded that she was in no way inferior to Madelyn. Why, then, was Sebastian so obsessed with the latter woman while constantly disregarding her as if she was beneath him?

This is so annoying! I hate her so much!

Derek’s smile widened as he observed the couple getting along so harmoniously. “Sebastian, I’ve been discussing this with Maddie lately. She’s expressed interest in joining the company. She has yet to understand much. I don’t have the time to guide her every day, so I’m hoping you could lend a hand.”

Regina’s face fell as soon as she heard that, and she interjected, “I don’t think this is a good idea, Derek.”

“What’s not good about it?” Derek retorted, a hint of annoyance seeping through his tone.

“Madelyn hasn’t even graduated from university yet, and you’re already considering having her take over the company. Isn’t that a bit too soon? First of all, it could interfere with her studies. Secondly, she’s still finding herself, so it’s unlikely she’d be able to commit fully to the company’s affairs,” Regina advised “earnestly,” all the while feeling a knot of tension in her mind.

Is this old man seriously thinking of handing Thornton Corporation over to that brat so soon? No, absolutely not!

“She’s right, Dad! If you insist on putting Madelyn in the company, then I want to go too!” Eunice chimed in from the side.

Derek’s expression grew stern. “I have my own reasons for my actions. As for you, Eunice, we’ll discuss your entry into the company once you’re in your junior year.”

“But Dad…” Eunice pleaded, her face immediately filled with sorrow and indignance.

Derek simply assumed she was throwing a tantrum and paid her no mind. “The matter is settled as it is. Let’s eat.”

With that, everyone continued to eat their breakfast in silence. Eunice was upset and originally wanted to say something, but her mother grabbed her under the table, signaling her to be silent. Thus, the reluctant young lady could only pout and keep quiet.

At this point, Sebastian was rather surprised. Didn’t Madelyn always despise restrictions and find business dealings to be a nuisance? Why had she suddenly decided to run the company? Had she lost her mind?

He couldn’t help but cast a meaningful glance at Madelyn. Yet, the woman remained composed, continuing to eat her breakfast as if nothing had happened. Sebastian became even more puzzled.

After breakfast, he asked in curiosity while driving her to school, “When did you start showing interest in business management?”

“It’s nothing much. I just want to learn more and improve myself,” Madelyn replied with a relaxed smile, her tone casual. “Besides, my father is getting older, so it’s about time I help lighten his load, don’t you think?”

Moreover, only by becoming stronger could one protect everything they wished to safeguard. Upon hearing her words, Sebastian was slightly taken aback. Since when had she become so mature and sensible?

Still, she wanted to learn, so there was no reason for him to refuse to teach her. With a hint of seriousness, he stated frostily, “In that case, you’d better brace yourself. From now on, you’ll have to set aside two hours after school every day to intern at the company. I’ll personally train you.”

“Really?” Madelyn was instantly filled with joy. A radiant smile spread across her delicate, petite face, making her look so sweet it was almost unbearable.

“Don’t you worry. I’ll definitely be there,” she responded gleefully. Following that, Sebastian dropped her off at the school.

Brimming with happiness, Madelyn immediately shared the news with Jillian upon reaching the campus.

“Wow! You’re going to take over the company? That’s fantastic!” Jillian was just as ecstatic, and her usually tranquil face had now come alive with excitement.

“Yeah! I think it’s great too! It’s just that…” Madelyn paused, her joyful expression gradually calming. “My schedule might get pretty packed in the future, so I won’t be able to go to the combat training center with you every day. But don’t worry! I can still go with you during the weekends.”

“It’s no big deal, really,” Jillian insisted with a gentle smile, not bothered in the least.

While the two were engrossed in their conversation, Janessa was subtly eavesdropping from the sidelines. A sudden spark of jealousy ignited in her heart the moment she heard that Madelyn was actually going to start learning how to manage the company.

Despite being the victim, she could hardly hold her head up at home. All day long, she was subject to the derision and sarcasm of the old woman, Scarlet. Her father was also constantly finding fault with her. On the other hand, Madelyn was about to start learning how to run the company.

The thought of Derek intending to hand over the entire Thornton Corporation to her in the near future only stoked the flames of envy within Janessa. They burned so fiercely that she felt as if she was on the verge of being consumed by her own jealousy.

Madelyn should remain as the worthless trash that she is. Nothing more!

For all those years in the past, Madelyn was like a fool manipulated at will, utterly devoid of any sense. Yet, she was now becoming increasingly outstanding before one could realize it.
