Chapter 265 You Must Help
Madelyn gave a start upon hearing that. Her trip to Rodunst was kept under wraps. She hadnโt told anyone, so no one should have known. How could someone be knocking at her door at such a late hour? Donโt tell me something supernatural will happen when the clock strikes midnight like in horror filmsโฆ.
Fear gripped Madelyn as she thought about that. At that moment, the knocking on the door resumed, growing increasingly intense. Knock! Knock! Knock!
Madelyn hid under the covers, thinking of ignoring the noise, but the persistent knocks got on her nerves. Finally, she couldnโt take it anymore and threw off the covers, getting out of bed to see what was going on.
She moved toward the door, peering through the peephole. To her surprise, she saw Grimo.
She immediately opened the door and, sure enough, there stood the towering figure of Grimo before her. His appearance was so sudden that, for a moment, she thought she was dreaming.
Grimo fixed his enchanting green eyes on Madelyn and flashed a devilish smile. โItโs really you. We meet again.โ
She was astonished. โHow did you know I was here? I didnโt tell anyone.โ
โYeah, you didnโt, but Adelar spotted you at the bar just now. He wasnโt sure if it was you, so I came personally to check. Itโs a surprise that we meet again.โ After Grimo finished speaking, a subtle, meaningful smile played at the corners of his mouth.
For reasons he couldnโt quite comprehend, seeing Madelyn again brought him a touch of joy.
โFineโฆโ Madelyn didnโt know what to say, thinking to herself how unlucky she was to be seen by Adelar. Opening the door, she said, โSomeone will notice you if you continue standing there. Come on in.โ
The two of them settled into the two armchairs within the room.
Madelyn didnโt feel comfortable being alone with another man in the dead of night, so instead of wasting time on small talk, she bluntly asked as soon as they sat down, โWhyโd you come looking for me?โ
Grimo was amused by her attitude. โYou donโt seem thrilled to see me.โ
โNot at all.โ Madelynโs expression stiffened awkwardly as she pressed on, โYou havenโt answered my question yet. Why did you come looking for me?โ
Grimo chuckled and got straight to the point. โTo be honest, I came here to find the traitor. You should know who she is, right?โ
โOf course, didnโt I tell you that?โ Madelyn smiled. The traitor they were talking about was naturally Violet.
โBefore this, I didnโt understand why my most trusted assistant, who had been with me for so many years, would suddenly betray me. But then I found outโฆ she had long been bribed by Hellfire Creed.โ
He paused, a bitter smile creeping onto his face as he sighed. โAside from Adelar, she was the person I trusted the most. Yet she betrayed me. This saddened me deeply, and Iโm also furious. So, she has to die.โ
Madelyn was puzzled. โBut isnโt Hellfire Creed still conducting business with you? Why would they conspire with your assistant, even going as far as destroying an arsenal, just to burn bridges with you? It doesnโt seem like theyโd benefit from this in any way, does it?โ
Grimoโs face darkened, a storm brewing in his green eyes.
โActually, a long time ago, we and the Hellfire Creed had always been at odds. However, as time went on, due to our mutual collaboration, the animosity between us gradually fadedโฆโ Grimo was immersed in past memories as he told Madelyn everything.
Over the years, Hellfire Creed had seemingly mended their relationship with Grimoโs gang, often conducting business with them. Hence, Grimo had long since put aside the grudges of the past.
No one expected Hellfire Creed to be so cruel and cunning. Even though they appeared to be collaborating with Grimo on the surface, they never forgot the grudges of the past. Not only did they conspire with Grimoโs most capable assistant, Violet, but they also found out about the location of Grimoโs arsenal. They waited for the opportune moment to viciously stab him in the back.
But Grimo was not to be trifled with. He wouldnโt hurt others, but if anyone dared to cross him, he wouldnโt hesitate to be ruthless and unforgiving.
Moreover, Grimo, who had always hated traitors, wouldnโt let Violet get away, let alone Hellfire Creed. After relating everything, Grimoโs blood boiled.
โSo, thatโs how it isโฆโ Madelyn was filled with emotion upon hearing about the story, but all she could do was let out a helpless sigh. โSo, what do you plan to do? Iโm a weak and powerless woman, so Iโm afraid I canโt be of much help to you.โ
Grimo looked at Madelyn solemnly. โNo, you can help and you must. Because the group of people you saved last time disguised as Morgana have also gotten involved.โ
โWhat?โ Suddenly, Madelynโs heart sank.
I thought I saved Sebastian, Wesley, and Harriet last time. Wasnโt that already settled? Why does it involve Hellfire Creed again?
Madelyn quickly asked, โGrimo, what on earth is going on?โ
โDo you not know?โ Grimo retorted.
โWhat do I know?โ Madelyn was utterly confused.
Grimo suddenly laughed. โThis is why Iโve come to find you. From what Iโve heard, your friends have also been looking for someone. A few days ago, one of your group got stabbed because of this matter. The injury was quite serious, I believe.โ
As he spoke, he narrowed his green eyes, as if lost in thought. Suddenly, he seemed to remember something and said, โOh, right, I think the womanโs name isโฆ Harriet?โ
Itโs Harriet!
Madelynโs expression turned grim.
Initially, she assumed that Sebastianโs urgent business trip was simply due to some company issues. However, it now appeared that things were far from being that simple.
โHow did things end up like this?โ Madelyn couldnโt help but frown. The situation had escalated significantly.
Grimo looked at Madelyn with a playful expression. โYour fiancรฉ got involved yesterday. I assume thatโs why you rushed over here. Youโre here to find him, right?โ
Madelynโs face flushed red when her thoughts were exposed. However, she didnโt deny it.
Grimo spoke again. โHowever, I should warn you in advance. The person your fiancรฉ is currently tracking could very likely be associated with Hellfire Creed. Moreover, this individual is not just anyone. If you dig too deep and things escalate, itโs possible that lives could be at stake.โ
