Chapter 275 Do Not Touch

The company, completely deserted at this very moment, was incredibly serene.

Zachary returned because he had left something when he finished work, so he had no choice but to come back temporarily to retrieve it.

The sound of footsteps echoed clearly, gradually growing louder as they approached.

Upon reaching his office, Zachary immediately switched on the lights. However, something felt off. He couldnโ€™t quite put his finger on it, but the office gave him the impression that someone had been there.

With this in mind, Zachary quietly picked up a baseball bat that was kept behind the door for self-defense. He then heightened his alertness and began to search throughout the entire finance department, hoping to see if there was anyone around.

It seemed as if Zachary was spooking himself. Every time he spotted a potential hiding spot, he would hoist his baseball bat high, declaring, โ€œLetโ€™s see where you can run!โ€ Only when he confirmed there was no one there would he breathe a sigh of relief.

At this moment, Madelyn, Josiah, and the locksmiths were hiding outside the window of a twelve-story building. Despite standing on the iron frame of an air conditioner, the combined weight of the four people made the frame wobble slightly. Given the height of the building, a slight misstep could potentially lead to a disastrous fall. Therefore, at this very moment, all four of them held their breath, their legs trembling, not daring to even let out a sigh.

Fortunately, after about ten minutes of thorough searching, Zachary had inspected every suspicious corner he could think of. Finding no one out of the ordinary, he concluded that he might have just been overthinking. He then returned the baseball bat to its original place, grabbed what he needed, turned off the lights, and left.

Soon, Tristanโ€™s voice came through the walkie-talkie. โ€œBoss, theyโ€™ve left. Youโ€™re safe now.โ€

The four people outside the window finally breathed a sigh of relief and then climbed back in.

Following that, the two locksmiths proceeded with the installation of the pinhole cameras. Meanwhile, Madelyn and Josiah continued to examine the safe hidden within the drawer.

โ€œIt seems we wonโ€™t be able to open it today. Weโ€™ll come back when we have time.โ€ Seeing that it was getting late, Madelyn didnโ€™t want to waste any more time, and Josiah nodded in agreement.

Then, Madelyn glanced at the individuals who were setting up the cameras. โ€œHave you guys finished setting up?โ€

โ€œAlmost done.โ€ The two nodded, then pointed out several areas. โ€œWeโ€™ve set up cameras at these spots and linked them to your computer for remote access. From now on, you can monitor the situation here whenever you want.โ€

Madelyn gave a slight nod.

Everything was finally completed. Following that, they discreetly slipped away under the cover of darkness. Tristan had arranged for vehicles outside to facilitate their departure.

โ€œThank you so much for your help. How about I treat you guys to a late-night meal?โ€ Madelyn suddenly asked. The two renowned locksmith brothers, as she might need their assistance in the future.

โ€œMs. Thornton, youโ€™re really too kind. Inviting us for a late-night snack over such a trivial matter, we just canโ€™t accept!โ€ Besides, they were already under Tristanโ€™s command, merely earning their keep by solving problems for others.

At that moment, Tristan laughed and shamelessly said, โ€œCome on, donโ€™t refuse the offer. Ever since we got to know Madelyn, weโ€™ve been frequently involved in all sorts of mischief together. Itโ€™s only right that she treats us to a meal, isnโ€™t it?โ€

Upon hearing this, everyone burst into hearty laughter.

Madelynโ€™s smile was as bright as a summer flower, exuding a warmth that was hard to resist. Josiah responded with a smile of his own, but inside, he felt a deep sense of melancholy.

He was a young master of the prestigious Blume family, once infamous for his wild and unrestrained behavior. Who among the streets didnโ€™t fear him and his entourage? Even those who werenโ€™t afraid still treated him with a certain degree of respect.

Yet now, he, Josiah, had surprisingly been captivated by Madelyn!

Though Madelyn was admittedly attractive, she was by no means a seductive siren! What was it about her that was so captivating, that increasingly made it difficult for his gaze to stray from herโ€ฆ.

โ€œHey, just relax! I know our endeavors might not be the most honorable, but I assure you, weโ€™re not doing anything that would bring divine retribution. And besides, if there are any benefits or good opportunities in the future, do you think Iโ€™d leave you out?โ€ Madelyn said with a warm smile.

Her carefree personality was surprisingly appealing, so the group dispensed with formalities and decided to go out together for food and drinks.

Even though Madelyn and Josiah were both born into wealthy families, their lifestyle was rather laid-back.

That night, they didnโ€™t seek out any upscale restaurants for their late-night snack. Instead, they stumbled upon a seemingly popular roadside eatery. They casually ordered some barbecue, accompanied by beer, and spent their time eating, drinking, and chatting away. After three rounds of drinks, they called it a night.

Finally, everyone said their goodbyes. Madelyn, with her full belly, hailed a cab and went home.

At this point, it was already past midnight.

Sebastian was clad in a pristine white robe, seated on the living room couch. He was multitasking, managing his work while sipping on calming herbal tea. His demeanor was refined and neat, yet carried an undertone of restrained desire.

โ€œIโ€™m back.โ€ As soon as her voice echoed, Madelyn stepped through the door, tossing aside her bag. She then changed into her shoes and made her way inside while dragging her feet.

Her footsteps were unsteady, as though she were drunk.

Upon seeing her stumble in through the door, clearly inebriated, carrying the scent of barbecue and reeking of alcohol, Sebastian couldnโ€™t help but furrow his brows. His expression showed a hint of dissatisfaction.

Where on earth did she run off to again this time?

However, Sebastian didnโ€™t probe further. He merely suggested in an indifferent tone, โ€œGo shower and get some sleep. You should rest early.โ€

No sooner had he finished speaking than a soft body suddenly nestled into his embrace. A pair of hazy eyes gazed up at him as she nuzzled against his chest. Small, restless hands even ventured inside his robe.

โ€œIโ€™m exhausted, and you donโ€™t even care. Imph!โ€

Madelyn was completely oblivious that, at that very moment, she was acting just like a little kitten, nuzzling into his warm embrace time and again. The hands she had slipped into his clothes were also somewhat restless, exploring all over.

Sebastian was speechless in his exasperation.

Did this woman even know what she was doing? Even if she had been drinking, she couldnโ€™t just go around touching everything!

However, Madelyn showed no reaction. Instead, she was subconsciously a bit thrilled. She remembered how, whenever she touched Sebastian in the past, he would instantly push her away with force.

Yet, ever since she had changed, it appeared that Sebastian wasnโ€™t as resistant to her as he used to be.

Hehe, how wonderful.

In the end, Sebastian found himself at a loss with the woman. He had no choice but to set aside his work for the moment and take her to the bathroom to hastily bathe her.

After he had finished washing her, he gently lifted her and laid her on the bed, then he covered her with a blanket.

As a result, as soon as Madelyn hit the bed, she fell asleep. She even smacked her lips in her sleep, peacefully turning over without a care in the world. Watching her, Sebastian could only feel a mix of helplessness and amusement.
