The man was strikingly handsome and had a robust physique. His skills indicated professional training, which was quite impressive. He was specifically chosen by Janessa’s aunt to serve Janessa as her subordinate. His name was Javier Goldblum.

Every time something happened, he would scale the wall to come in and report the situation.

Upon seeing him at that moment, Janessa couldn’t help but furrow her delicate brows. “What’s happened?”

“Cheryl has already picked up Sheritt Group’s new project proposal this afternoon and gone to meet Sebastian,” Javier said impassively. “It seems like she intends to thwart your plans.”

“What on earth is going on? How could Cheryl possibly have connections with someone like Sebastian?” Janessa was immediately taken aback.

“Based on our investigation, the person who seemed to have recommended Cheryl appears to be Sebastian’s fiancee, Madelyn. Moreover, there seems to be some interaction between the two of them recently. I suspect this matter was prearranged by them,” Javier explained in detail.

“This is outrageous!” Janessa’s face flushed with anger as she seethed with indignation.

“That conniving Madelyn knows full well that Cheryl and I are at odds. Moreover, she chose such a crucial moment to side with that wretched Cheryl and ruin my plans! What on earth is she playing at?”

As she spoke, Janessa fiercely gripped the bedsheet, wishing it was Madelyn so she could tear it apart with all her might.

Javier remained rather composed, continuing to analyze the situation rationally. “Ms. Sherritt, don’t you think Madelyn has become a different person? Back then, she was incredibly naive. Even though you played her like a fiddle, she still defended you. But now it seems she’s starting to resist, even gradually standing against you. Who knows, she might even become your enemy in the future.”

Upon hearing those words, Janessa felt something weigh down on her heart.

Javier is right. Madelyn has indeed changed a lot. Apart from the occasional traces of her carefree personality from the past, her way of dealing with people and situations is fundamentally different from before. It’s as if she has become a completely different person.

There was no way Janessa would have believed that there was nothing suspicious going on in this situation.

Janessa was completely oblivious to his actions. She retorted irritably, “Plans? Ha, what could I possibly do? Initially, I planned on partnering with Lockhart Group for a business deal, hoping to solidify my position within Sherritt Group. But now, I’ll have to consider other options. Ah, this is so frustrating!”

The more Janessa spoke, the more irritated she became. Unable to resist, she reached up and ran her fingers through her hair, leaving it in a disheveled state. However, this only served to increase her frustration.

I’ve been trying my hardest to persuade them, but I’ve only managed to convince two or three at most.”

In the end, Javier burst out laughing. “Miss, you’ve overestimated how difficult it is to handle that bunch of old slickers! In this world, there’s no one who can’t be bought with money. As long as the benefits we offer are enticing enough, there’s no reason for them not to be tempted. Moreover, in recent years, the development of the Sheritt Group hasn’t been ideal. When she heard the proposal, the previously dim eyes of Janessa seemed to gradually ignite with hope.

Javier has a point! If it was merely a matter of acquiring a small number of shares, then indeed, it wouldn’t be of much use. However, if one were to buy back the shares from the minority shareholders at a high price and then consolidate them, the resulting stake would be huge!

With this in mind, Janessa promptly nodded. “Alright, I leave this matter in your hands!”

“Understood,” Javier acknowledged, ready to leave.

“Wait!” Janessa suddenly called out to him, her eyes filled with malice. “This mess is Madelyn’s doing, isn’t it? Hmph, I won’t let her off that easily. When you have time, arrange for some men to teach her a lesson!”

“Understood.” Javier acknowledged her orders once again.

The following day, at the combat training center, it had been quite some time since Madelyn last visited, especially after her recent trip to Yowhayton. Between learning management at both Lockhart Group and her own company, she could feel that her muscles had significantly weakened. The physical fitness she had achieved during her previous training felt miles away. So, once school was over that day, she headed straight to the combat training center to train and reinforce the skills she had previously learned.

Nevertheless, it was hard to deny that consistency was key when it came to training. Madelyn had noticed a significant decline in her flexibility after a period without practice. Many of her movements had become noticeably rusty as well.

Fortunately, Maxton had noticed Madelyn’s issues due to her absence. So, he specifically devised a series of training plans for her. This way, Madelyn could also practice at home.

Madelyn was extremely grateful and expressed her appreciation with a cheerful smile. “Coach Wendel, it’s been such a long time since we’ve seen each other. How about I treat you to dinner tonight? It would be a good opportunity to repay you for your mentorship, don’t you think?”

Upon hearing these words, Maxton seemed to hesitate for a moment, but in the end, he nodded in agreement.

For reasons unknown, Maxton, who usually disliked attending any social dinners, found it impossible to refuse her whenever she flashed him a smile.

At that moment, a woman hidden in the shadows watched the scene unfold, her eyes nearly spewing flames of jealousy.

Lindsay had initially planned to ask Maxton out, but to her surprise, Madelyn had beaten her to it. She was instantly filled with frustration, feeling as if she was about to burst a vessel.

The most crucial part was that Madelyn had actually managed to secure the date.

As for her, every time she asked Maxton out, the latter would politely decline. To put it bluntly, he simply did not want to be with her.

But now, Maxton was actually willing to accept Madelyn’s invitation, much to Lindsay’s chagrin.
