Chapter 279 Death Wish
โStop!โ
Maxton was livid, striding forward to forcefully push away the girls surrounding Madelyn. โDid you come to this combat training center to beat up fellow students?โ he barked.
Upon hearing his words, the women looked up and gasped upon seeing Maxton. They wished the ground would open up and swallow them. Clearly, none of them had expected him to come to the womenโs changing room.
โStand over there, all of you,โ Maxton ordered coldly. โWithout my permission, you are not to leave. If you disobey, donโt bother showing up again.โ
Following that, Maxton didnโt have time to deal with them. He quickly helped Madelyn to her feet. โAre you alright?โ
Although the tone was cold, there was a clear hint of concern.
When the female students watched this scene unfold, their resentment for Madelyn deepened. If looks could kill, Madelyn would have died a thousand times over.
Although Madelyn had been ambushed and beaten up, her injuries were fortunately not serious. Her body was somewhat bruised, but they were minor. However, her arm was dislocated, causing her unbearable pain.
Madelyn had no choice but to clutch her arm tightly, a thin layer of cold sweat forming on her forehead. โIโm fine. It just feels like my arm may be dislocated.โ
Upon seeing the situation, Maxton inexplicably felt a pang of sympathy. Suddenly, he bent down and scooped up Madelyn in his arms, heading straight for the door. โIโm taking you to see a doctor!โ
Madelyn was taken aback by Maxtonโs actions. However, she reasoned that he was probably just acting in his capacity as a coach, concerned for the safety of his students, and so, she didnโt dwell on it.
In no time at all, Maxton carried Madelyn straight to the infirmary at the combat training center. As soon as he set her down, he immediately had the doctor examine her injuries.
The doctor was a specialist in orthopedics. After examining the injury, he immediately set Madelynโs bone.
When a sudden force was exerted on her arm, Madelyn almost cried out in pain. Fortunately, she could move her hand afterward, and the pain had eased significantly.
Following that, the doctor wrapped a bandage around her, instructing Madelyn to rest her arm in a sling to prevent it from dislocating again.
It wasnโt until Madelynโs bandages were secured that Maxton finally let out a sigh of relief.
Then, it was time to deal with the female students from earlier.
After calling the group of female students into the martial arts classroom, Maxton didnโt bother with pleasantries. He interrogated them sternly, โWhy did you all attack Madelyn?โ
โLโฆ,โ the taller one stammered.
โUm, actually, we just wanted to have a friendly spar with herโฆโ a female student said.
โSpar?โ Maxton scoffed. โAll of you ganged up on her, and you call that sparring? Sure, if you insist on calling it that, I can have the police come and confirm it.โ
Once Maxton finished speaking, he couldnโt be bothered with idle chatter. He immediately took out his phone, ready to call the police.
The trainees were terrified by the threat. One of them, who was particularly timid, immediately changed her tune. โCoach Wendel, you canโt blame us for this,โ she pleaded. โIn truth, we were only following Coach Lindsayโs orders when we went to bother Madelyn. Please, donโt call the police.โ
So thatโs what happened.
Upon hearing those words, the light in Maxtonโs eyes dimmed. He thought of Lindsayโs beautiful face, a stark contrast to her wicked heart, and instantly felt a sense of disgust.
Upon hearing the name Lindsay, Madelyn was, in fact, somewhat taken aback.
Initially, she thought it was just the female students who had taken a dislike to her. Little did she know that there was actually a mastermind behind the scenes who had set her up.
Madelynโs gaze turned colder. Hmph, I really couldnโt stay out of trouble no matter where I am.
โWeโve admitted to everything, Madelyn. The truth is, we were just envious of your beauty and your close relationship with Coach Wendel. Please forgive us. Weโre sorryโฆโ At this point, the timid girl repeated her apologies to Madelyn.
The female students nearby were left with no choice. Succumbing to the pressure exerted by Maxton, they had no choice but to apologize to Madelyn one by one.
Madelyn, on the other hand, didnโt really care. After all, they didnโt gain any advantage, so she simply decided to let it slide.
These women are merely pawns, exploited for someone elseโs agenda. If there is a score to settle, it should be with Lindsay.
With a casual wave of her hand, Madelyn wore an indifferent expression. โSince youโve all apologized, letโs just leave it at that. You should all head home early.โ
Upon hearing those words, the women let out collective sighs of relief, then turned and left.
At this point, Maxton also felt a bit guilty. โIโm sorry. The situation youโre in is actually because of me.โ
โDonโt bother apologizing, this matter doesnโt really involve you,โ said Madelyn in a nonchalant manner. โHowever, I might have to cancel tonightโs dinner. Letโs reschedule it for another time.โ
Maxton also nodded slightly. โDo you want me to take you home?โ
โNo need. Even though my arm is dislocated, I can still manage to hail a cab,โ Madelyn said with a radiant smile. Without lingering any longer, she headed home with her dislocated arm.
As soon as Madelyn stepped through the door at Lockhart Villa, Lydia noticed her injury right away. She let out a startled cry. โMrs. Lockhart, what happened to you?โ
โItโs nothing. Just a minor injury,โ Madelyn said with a smile as she stepped into the house. Yet, just as she took her first step, she suddenly halted.
Sebastian casually lounged on the sofa. His eyes, however, were tightly fixed on her wrist, causing his entire face to darken.
โUmโฆ Iโฆ Iโm home,โ Madelyn said, utterly embarrassed.
โWhat have you been up to again?โ A chilly voice echoed, sending a slight shiver down Madelynโs spine.
Suddenly, Sebastian rose from the couch, striding directly toward her. He then scrutinized her from head to toe, his voice laced with clear displeasure. โBe honest with me.โ
Madelyn certainly didnโt want to upset him, so she immediately put on a pitiful expression. โSebastian, it really wasnโt my fault this time. I went to the combat training center for training today, and a few girls ganged up on meโฆโ
Following that, Madelyn explained the situation in detail.
After he heard everything, Sebastianโs expression turned even more gloomy.
Someone actually dared to mess with my girl? They must have a death wish.
Upon seeing his stern face, Madelyn hurriedly tried to pacify him, โSebastian, those people are actually quite pitiful. They were used by others and I even gave them a piece of my mind. Besides, I didnโt suffer much, so could you please stop being angry?โ
In response, Sebastianโs expression gradually softened, and he let out a sigh of relief. โGo on. Wash up and get some sleep.โ
The next day, Madelyn still couldnโt remove her bandage, so she had to go to school with one arm in a sling.
Upon seeing Madelyn in such a battered state, Josiah and Tristan were shocked, their eyes widened in disbelief. They quickly asked, โHey, Madelyn, what on earth were you up to last night? How did you end up like this?โ
