Chapter 31: You Brought This On Yourself
Madelyn was backed into a corner, an inexplicable tension rising within her. Whatโs going on with Sebastian? He seems angryโexceptionally so.
โSebastian, are you okay? Iโฆ I just feel like I canโt sleep without you around,โ Madelyn whispered.
However, immediately afterward, Madelyn suddenly felt a surge of pressure as Sebastian gripped her hands. Then, he forcefully pushed her entire body against the door behind her, causing her to collide harshly with it. Before the dull ache in her back could subside, Madelyn saw Sebastian imposingly bearing down on her, towering fury brewing in his gaze.
โMadelynโฆ how long are you going to keep up this pretense?โ The wrath in his voice was unmistakable.
Madelynโs heart jolted. Sebastian is genuinely angered this time. Heโs furious. Yet, Madelynโs mind was utterly blank as she innocently wondered, What pretense am I keeping up? Why would Sebastian say something like this, and what could have angered him to this extent? Madelyn was utterly clueless but didnโt dare to provoke Sebastian any further. Hence, she could only lower her voice, timidly uttering, โSebastian, I really donโt understand what youโre saying. What exactly happened to you?โ
โSheโs still pretending!โ Sebastian hardened his heart, reaching out to grip Madelynโs chin firmly and speaking through gritted teeth. โWhatโs the matter? Just a few days ago, you found it repulsive even when I touched you. But after just one night, youโre seeking closeness by showing concern and preparing meals for me. Madelyn, do you think I wouldnโt notice such a drastic change in you? Or am I just a fool to you, someone you can toy with and deceive at your will?โ
Sebastian enunciated the latter part of his sentence, causing Madelyn to tremble with fright. However, Madelyn finally understood. It turned out that Sebastian still didnโt trust her. To Sebastian, all her goodwill was nothing more than a pretense.
Given the circumstances, Madelyn had no choice but to look him straight in the eye. โSebastian, what will it take for you to believe me?โ
โBelieve you!โ Sebastian let out a cold laugh. โIโm afraid I dare not do this again!โ
โThatโs enough. You donโt need these high-flown speeches. Just be straight with me about your intentions, and stop beating around the bush with these games.โ Sebastian glared at her in anger. His heart ached terribly as he recalled the love poems in the notebook and her defiant expression of innocence. Sheโs the only one I love, yet she canโt forget about another man. For that manโs sake, sheโs playing the role of a wife, but itโs only to deceive me!
Sebastian couldnโt help but tighten his grip on her hand. Madelynโs hand throbbed with pain, yet her resolve remained unshaken as she gazed into his eyes. โSebastian, I swear Iโm not playing any games. Do you believe me?โ
Admittedly, Madelyn had made a fair number of mistakes in the past, which led Sebastian to completely lose faith in her. But now, she was no longer the Madelyn of the past. She had changed. She wanted to make up for everything. She only wished to change her fate and love Sebastian wholeheartedly. Apart from that, she had no other thoughts.
Upon hearing those words, Sebastian could only scoff in mockery. โYouโre not playing games? Madelyn, do you really think I donโt know what youโre thinking?โ
After he finished speaking, Sebastian extended his index finger, touching the spot over Madelynโs heart. โYouโre clearly harboring someone else in here, yet you put on a pretense before me, making compromises. Whatโs the matter? Do youโฆ to return to Christopherโs side so that you two can live happily ever after?โ
Sebastian sneered, and his tone suddenly turned harsh. โLet me tell you this. You can stop daydreaming!โ
Madelyn was taken aback. The next second, an overwhelming wave of domineering aura washed over her. Madelyn was extremely resistant, clenching her teeth tightly and refusing to let him in. She was sure there was some misunderstanding here, and all she wanted was to clear things up.
Sensing her resistance, Sebastian thought coldly, So, sheโs finally showing reluctance? Unfortunately, itโs too late! Subsequently, Sebastian bit her lip forcefully, causing Madelyn to let out a soft gasp of pain immediately. His kiss was overwhelmingly intense, leaving her utterly breathless. Madelyn panted, wanting to resist, but she simply couldnโt push away Sebastianโs body.
In the end, she had no choice but to muster her courage. Madelyn bit down hard on Sebastianโs lips, then using all her strength and wits, she managed to push him away by force.
โSebastian, calm down!โ Madelyn raised her voice. โHave you misunderstood something about me? What on earth have I done to make you so angry? Can you please explain!โ
However, consumed by rage, Sebastian, with traces of blood on his lips, turned a deaf ear to her words. Suddenly, he yanked off Madelynโs bathrobe. Feeling the chill on her body, Madelyn was startled. โAh! No, donโt do this.โ
Upon hearing her words, Sebastian abruptly halted his actions. He looked directly into her wide, watery eyes; his tone was filled with mockery as he asked, โWhatโs the matter? Are you scared?โ
Madelyn was terrified by Sebastianโs harsh and brutal demeanor. She was so scared that her eyes were red, and her body was trembling uncontrollably. Still, after some thought, she steeled herself, gritted her teeth, and said, โIโm not scared.โ
โYouโre not scared?โ Sebastian let out a cold huff, his voice devoid of emotion. โVery well. Youโve brought this upon yourself!โ
Once he finished speaking, he immediately lifted Madelyn around the waist. With a few large strides, he returned to the room and, without hesitation, tossed her onto the plush, comfortable bed. He didnโt allow her any opportunity to resist. In the end, Sebastian thrust himself into Madelyn. Madelyn gritted her teeth tightly. The only thing that filled her mind was the pain. It felt as if her body was being torn apart and every bone in her body had been shattered. Beyond the pain, she felt nothing else.
