Chapter 318: Selling Myself
โI donโt know,โ the butler said, shaking his head. He wouldn't dare pry.
Madelyn sighed with relief. โAll right, then. He must have something urgent to attend to. Letโs eat first.โ
Derek and Madelyn ate. Afterward, Madelyn settled Derek into bed, instructing the housekeepers to watch him attentively before going home.
Although Madelyn didn't show it, she constantly worried about Sebastian. He wouldn't usually leave without saying goodbye.
Upon arriving home, Madelyn didn't find Sebastian. Lydia confirmed he hadn't returned. How odd. Could he have been working late?
Madelyn called Sebastian, but the call disconnected after a series of beeps. He didn't answer.
โIs he still busy?โ Madelyn mumbled, staring at her phone. โIโll just send him a message!โ
She texted: Come home early. Reading the message, Madelyn inexplicably felt a sense of being a housewife, smiling sweetly.
Without disturbing Sebastian further, she decided to freshen up and sleep.
Meanwhile, Sebastian and Wesley sat at a bar on the second floor of a club. At least ten bottles of wine cluttered the table, numerous empty bottles scattered around them. Both men had clearly been drinking heavily.
Despite this, Sebastian remained unfazed, showing no signs of intoxication. Yet, even amidst the club's chaotic atmosphere, Wesley felt an intense pressure emanating from Sebastian, leaving him breathless.
The phone on the table rang. It was Madelyn, her name displayed as "Lyn."
Sebastian usually felt indescribable excitement and sweetness when Madelyn called, but this time, he didn't answer. He watched the notification for over a minute.
He thought it was odd that Sebastian didn't answer Madelyn's call. Sebastian remained expressionless, silent.
Wesley laughed. โJust by looking at you, I can tell that girl must have upset you again. What is it this time? Is she entangled with a male friend? Could it be that she still has lingering feelings for Christopher?โ
Wesleyโs teasing tone made Sebastian's expression even more unpleasant.
โHaha! Sebastian, as your buddy, Iโm at a loss for words,โ Wesley said, his laughter tinged with helplessness. โI told you before, that woman is never going to change easily. You didnโt trust my words; you chose to believe her lies, like a moth drawn to a flame. Now you see your mistake, donโt you?โ
Sebastian felt despondent, unsure how to respond. Deciding not to dwell on it, he casually remarked, โHasnโt Harriet always wanted to return? Call her back. There are some things here that need her attention.โ
Wesley was instantly excited. Sebastian was finally letting Harriet return!
Wesley could hardly contain his excitement. He immediately agreed, saying, โOkay! Iโll call her back right now!โ
He immediately texted Harriet, who was overseas: Harriet, Sebastian has given you permission to return home. Hurry back! He added a grinning emoji.
Wesley pocketed his phone, preparing to continue drinking, when a commotion erupted downstairs.
They saw Christopher, holding a woman, hurling insults at another table, his tone brazen and defiant.
โDo you even know who I am? Iโm the son of the Gale family! How dare you try to steal my woman? Do you have the nerves of steel?โ Christopher yelled, holding the woman tighter.
The woman resisted, pushing him away and pleading for help. โHelp me! I donโt know him! Iโm not selling myself. Iโm just here for a good timeโฆโ
Seeing a woman in distress, the men intervened. One stepped forward. โI donโt care if youโre the son of the Gale family. Bullying a woman is simply wrong. Moreover, this lady has already stated she doesnโt know you, and sheโs not for sale. Forcing her against her will is your wrongdoing!โ
โSo what?โ Christopher laughed wildly. โI am loaded with money. This woman, if she follows me, will enjoy endless wealth and luxury. Whatโs there not to like? Come, gorgeous one. Letโs go. Iโll take you to stay in a top-tier presidential suite!โ
Wesley watched, displeasure evident on his face. The club was his, and he wouldn't tolerate such behavior.
Wesley subtly beckoned a subordinate. โGet rid of that trash whoโs been stealing women for me, and teach him a lesson. Also, I donโt want to see him around here anymore,โ Wesley ordered.
โUnderstood!โ The subordinate quickly left. Bouncers rushed in, grabbed Christopher, and unceremoniously dragged him out, punching him when he resisted, causing his nose to bleed. The scene erupted in applause.
Wesley continued drinking with Sebastian, who remained silent and subdued, his eyes glued to his phone, seemingly anticipating a message.
Wesley sighed, feeling helpless. He texted Madelyn: Madelyn, Sebastian is at my club, slightly intoxicated. You should come and pick him up quickly.
Meanwhile, at Lockhart Villa, Madelyn had just finished bathing and was preparing for bed when she saw the message. Her heart tightened.
