Chapter 438: I Belong Only To You
In the afternoon, at Thornton Corporation, Madelyn finished her task and felt a wave of boredom. A phone call arrived. Malcolm said, โMs. Thornton, Mr. Lockhart has returned.โ
โReally?โ Madelyn exclaimed, ecstatic. She had missed Sebastian terribly over the past couple of days and had instructed Malcolm to inform her immediately upon Sebastian's return.
Without wasting time, she rose, put on her coat, and prepared to leave.
โMadelyn, where are you going?โ Jillian asked, puzzled by Madelynโs sudden rush. Madelyn's temperament had been significantly calmer since taking over the company; her current exuberance was unusual.
Madelyn quickly arrived at Lockhart Group and hurried to Sebastianโs office. She found him sitting there, strikingly handsome in a charcoal gray suit.
โSebastian, Iโve missed you to death!โ she cried, throwing herself into his arms.
Before Sebastian could react, he felt an unidentified objectโMadelynโland in his embrace. A familiar fragrance tickled his nose, and a smile involuntarily formed on his lips.
โHow did you know I had returned?โ Sebastian asked, gently caressing her back.
โHmph, donโt you want me to know?โ Madelyn huffed, lifting her head. Her eyes held a pitiful expression that urged Sebastian to comfort her.
โYou wouldnโt believe how much Iโve missed you these past two days. I finally understand what people mean when they say each day feels like an eternity when youโre away from someone you love. From now on, wherever you go, Iโll follow. I canโt stand the thought of not seeing you again.โ
Chapter 439: I Belong Only To You
Sebastianโs voice softened. โI was only away on a business trip for two days, and you missed me this much. If I were to leave for a week, a month, or even a year, wouldnโt you be lovesick?โ
โOh, youโre terrible!โ Madelyn blushed, playfully punching his chest. โI wonโt allow you to leave me, not even for a day, certainly not for a week, and absolutely not for a year. Moreover, Iโll surely retaliate.โ
โHow will you retaliate?โ Sebastian chuckled softly.
โIโll talk with other men! Yes, thatโs what Iโll do!โ Madelyn declared, her tone firm. โSebastian, if you dare to leave me for such a long time, I will chat with many men. I wonder what youโll do then.โ
โAbsolutely not!โ Sebastian retorted, his expression turning stern at the thought of her threat. He abruptly pulled her close. โYou belong to me. I wonโt allow you to be with any other man! Never!โ
Madelyn smiled, reciprocating his embrace. Her voice softened. โDonโt worry, I will only ever be yours.โ
Sebastian nodded, cupping her chin and kissing her. Madelyn responded. At that moment, the door swung open.
Harriet, having received no answer after knocking twice, had entered, utterly shocked by the scene before her.
โAhemโฆโ Sebastian and Madelyn quickly separated. Sebastian resumed his stern demeanor. โWhat brings you here?โ he asked coldly.
Madelyn glared at Harriet, mentally cursing her for ruining the moment. Nonetheless, Harriet explained, โI came to report on my work.โ
โSpeak,โ Sebastian responded nonchalantly.
โMr. Lockhart, regarding the business deal we discussed in Quailfield a couple of days ago, their CKO has already agreed. This is the proposal they sent over. I would appreciate it if you could review it.โ Harriet handed Sebastian the blue folder.
As Sebastian reviewed the documents, Harriet added, โMr. Lockhart, if you find everything in order, could you please sign off on it? Iโll then instruct the finance department to start working on the budget.โ
Sebastianโs focused expression was attractive, captivating both Madelyn and Harriet. He reviewed the proposal, signed it, and returned the folder to Harriet.
Harriet nodded. โAll right, then Iโll get started on this now.โ Sebastian nodded, and Harriet left.
Madelyn then recalled a discrepancy in Harrietโs words. โWait!โ she exclaimed. โYou two went on this business trip together?โ
Harriet nodded. โYeah, didnโt Sebastian tell you?โ
Madelyn was stunned, a wave of jealousy washing over her. She glared at Sebastian, feeling hurt.
Harriet, sensing the awkward atmosphere, excused herself. Madelyn turned to Sebastian, her tone interrogative. โWhy didnโt you tell me?โ
โDonโt bother speaking. I donโt want to hear it!โ Madelyn interrupted any explanation Sebastian was about to offer.
Meanwhile, as soon as Madelyn left Lockhart Group, she felt a pang of regret.
