Reborn to My Engagement Night Chapter 53 Close Friends
The evening breeze was bleak.
After parting ways with Madelyn, Sebastian, as agreed, went to have a drink with Wesley. Almost every once in a while, they would gather together, sipping on some drinks and engaging in casual conversations. That day, the two of them visited the restaurant they usually frequented, settling down in their familiar spot. Given that they were both super VIPs of this establishment, they were never required to order. Each time they came, the server would automatically bring their usual drinks.
After the drinks were served, Sebastian immediately opened it and took a hearty swig straight away. Wesley was taken aback by his demeanor and quickly intervened, saying, โSebastian, what are you doing? Drinking is fine, but canโt we take it slow? I still have a lot to talk to you about. If you get drunk all at once, we wonโt be able to talk.โ
Though he said so, Wesley had already sensed something off about Sebastian. Upon hearing those words, Sebastian maintained his silence, yet the tension surrounding him noticeably eased. Seeing that he had calmed down a bit, Wesley handed back the drink to him.
Following that, Wesley casually chatted about day-to-day matters. As he continued, he eventually lost interest in talking. Throughout the entire event, Sebastian lowered his head, not uttering a single word. He simply drank his alcohol, never once pausing. Seeing him in this state, Wesley knew without a doubt what the reason was. In this world, no one else could dampen Sebastianโs spirits except for Madelyn. Eventually, Wesley had no interest in performing a one-man show anymore.
Setting down his glass, he asked earnestly, โYouโre looking rather downcast. Did she upset you again?โ
Sebastian remained silent, his face devoid of any expression. Wesley couldnโt help but sigh. โAh, I had a hunch it was about her. So, what has Madelyn done this time? Did she cheat on you with another man?โ
Cheat on me with another manโฆ
Sebastianโs expression turned even darker. It is because of her! Wesley also felt a sense of injustice for Sebastian in his heart. How can a person who is perfectly fine suddenly change their personality? There must be something strange going on. Now it seems she has been putting on a show,โ Wesley said, his expression carrying a hint of frustration.
Unable to contain his curiosity, he asked Sebastian, โI honestly donโt understand. There are countless women in this world who are better than Madelyn. Numerous ladies of high society dream of being with you. So, why are you so set on her? In my opinion, that girl is simply not good enough for you!โ
Wesley spoke with a hint of resentment. Sebastian merely listened in silence, offering no response whatsoever. He had understood these principles long ago. She knew Madelyn couldnโt possibly change so easily. However, when she flashed him a radiant smile, he still believed her. Only when he witnessed her radiant smile while in Christopherโs company did he realize how ridiculous he had been. He shouldnโt have trusted her in the first place.
Sebastian took another swig of his drink. No matter how much he drank, however, his complexion remained unchanged, showing no signs of inebriation. Wesley couldnโt help but feel terrified. Just how much can he drink?
โThatโs enough.โ
Later on, Wesley couldnโt bear to watch any longer, so he stood up. โDonโt obsess over Madelyn. Come on, letโs go have some fun tonight!โ
Sebastian looked at him, puzzled, only to see him grinning mischievously.
Upon reaching Lockhart Villa, Madelyn glanced at the wall clock and felt a pang of disappointment. He probably wonโt be coming back tonight. She then went upstairs to take a bath. She slipped into the bathtub, the surface of the water brimming with bubbles. Bored, Madelyn picked up a handful of bubbles and blew them away with a puff. She felt an inexplicable emptiness in her heart.
After taking a bath, she wrapped herself in a towel and settled down on the couch. The memory of Sebastian blow-drying her glossy black hair in this very place flooded back, intensifying her overwhelming sense of disappointment.
No!
Madelyn felt that if things continued this way, she would go crazy.
Yes, I need to win him back!
Madelyn began contemplating what to do next. I need to find a suitable location for a date first, then invite Sebastian over there to explain things properly.
Madelyn reached out and picked up the phone that was lying on the table. She had intended to message Sebastian and set up a date. Unintentionally, she tapped on Instagram, only to see that Wesley had posted an update.
How did I end up following Wesley on Instagram?
Well, everyone is, after all, part of the same social circle. Plus, before my reincarnation, I indeed followed many people from this circle during my leisurely pursuits. I probably followed him unintentionally.
She glanced at Wesleyโs update. The accompanying caption read: My buddyโs feeling down. Brought him out for some fun.
Several pictures were posted. Intrigued, Madelyn decided to scroll through each of them. The first few pictures featured nothing but striking beauties with long legs. Then the last few were Wesleyโs selfies. Upon seeing his selfie, Madelyn couldnโt help but laugh. Wesley doesnโt even know how to use a beauty filter to enhance his photo. The angle he selected is remarkably unflattering.
Madelyn scrolled to the next picture, and her eyes instantly widened in surprise. Sebastian was also in the picture. Even though the lighting in the photo was a bit dim, Madelyn was certain that Sebastian was the handsome man lounging on the couch. Beside him were countless women.
Underneath the post, a deluge of comments appeared. Someone commented: Youโre so cool, Mr. Gale. Why donโt you bring me along sometime? Another asked: Is that Mr. Lockhart on the couch? Heโs quite handsome. A third wrote: Mr. Gale and Mr. Lockhart are indeed close friends. They drink together and enjoy the company of ladies together!
Upon seeing this, Madelyn couldnโt possibly hold back. She hastily put on her slippers and headed straight out the door. In just a short while, she had made her way directly to the club where Wesley and Sebastian were.
