Chapter 64 He Has A Low Opinion Of You
In the evening, Madelyn packed her things after school. Thinking Sebastian should arrive soon, she couldnโt help but quicken her pace.
Just as she stepped out the door, a voice suddenly called out from behind, โMadelyn!โ
Madelyn turned around, noticing Janessa rushing toward her.
โMadelyn, Iโve been calling you for a while earlier. Why did you ignore me?โ Janessa asked innocently when she reached Madelyn.
โIs that so? Do you need something from me?โ Madelyn glanced at her, clearly annoyed. Didnโt I already say I wouldnโt forgive her? Why is she asking again?
As a result, Janessa was seen pulling out a box of ointment or something similar from her pocket. โMadelyn, I heard you got hurt from a fall, so I specifically went to the pharmacy and bought this medicine specially made to treat bruises and sprains. You should use it. Maybe it might just speed up your recovery,โ Janessa said earnestly as she handed the ointment to Madelyn.
Upon seeing the ointment, Madelyn suddenly let out a cold laugh. If I didnโt know better, I might actually believe that Janessa is genuinely concerned about me, but in reality, who knows what kind of schemes are brewing in her mind?
Hence, Madelyn smiled poisedly and declined, โThank you for your kindness, but you donโt need to trouble yourself. There will be a doctor specifically assigned to treat me.โ
โBโBut Iโm really worried about you!โ Janessa explained pitifully. โMadelyn, Iโm just concerned for you. Canโt you even accept this small token of my sincerity?โ
Janessa worried about me? I can laugh my head off at that remark, but itโs a bit wasteful if her fake and pretentious acting doesnโt land her the Oscars Best Actress award.
Then, Madelyn said coldly, โNo thanks. If you think a simple ointment can earn my forgiveness, then youโve thought too much. Someone is waiting for me, so I should go.โ
Madelyn left after that.
Sebastianโs black Maserati was parked just at the intersection a short distance away. Madelyn strode over, opened the car door, and got in with familiar ease. Then, the car paused for a few seconds before speeding off.
Upon witnessing the scene, Janessa couldnโt help but clench her teeth tightly, her eyes filled with hostility. Who else could have been in the car, if not Sebastian? That dmn Madelyn, sheโs becoming more and more ostentatious now! Even when Sebastian was deeply concerned about her in the past, he would never drive to the school gate to pick her up. Yet now, he blatantly drives his luxury car right up to the school gate to pick her up! Iโm sure Madelyn mustโve demanded him to do so. Madelyn, this despicable woman! Sheโs truly wretched to the core!*
โHow pitiful, Janessa. Itโs clear how much you like Sebastian, yet you canโt get close to him. Worse still, you have to watch your bestie spend day and night with him. Oh, you poor thing,โ Christopher teased.
Janessa turned her head and glared at him. โCut the cr*p, who said Madelyn and I are besties? Moreover, what gives you the right to judge me? When it comes to unrequited love, youโre the same as I am. You canโt have Madelyn, and I canโt have Sebastian. Between us, itโs just a case of the pot calling the kettle black,โ Janessa scorned.
Unexpectedly, Christopher smiled with confidence. โIn your dreams, who said weโre the same? You canโt have Sebastian. Thatโs a fact. Even if Madelyn isnโt in the picture, countless prominent young ladies from prestigious families will still be lining up for him. Even if you wait for your entire life, itโs not guaranteed heโll even take a liking to you.โ
Christopher continued smugly, โBut, Iโm different. Madelyn is smitten with me, and everyone knows that. Sooner or later, Iโll find a way to win her over.โ
โChristopher, I think youโre overthinking. From the looks of it, Madelyn is spending far more time with Sebastian than with you. Where on earth do you get the confidence to think you can win her over?โ Janessa scoffed, her words laced with sarcasm.
Christopher immediately countered, โThatโs because you donโt understand! Do you know why her hands were injured?โ
โWhy?โ
โJust last night, she ended up in a fight with another woman just so she could go to the bar to wait for me. The injury on her hand was because of me. Tell me, doesnโt that prove she likes me?โ Christopher stated decisively.
Recalling the scenes from the previous night, Christopher was absolutely certain that Madelyn was still profoundly in love with him.
โIs that so?โ
Janessa suddenly realized that the injury on Madelynโs hand wasnโt from a fall as claimed, but from a fight. But would Madelyn actually fight for Christopher? What was that all about?
Janessa said coldly, โChristopher, if youโre so sure that Madelyn likes you, then act quickly! Donโt dillyโdally. What if Madelyn falls for Sebastian one day? Weโre both goners by then.โ
โOf course, just wait and see,โ Christopher confidently stated with a determination to succeed.
In the evening, a perfectly matched couple could be seen through the floorโtoโceiling windows of the eighteenth floor of a fiveโstar hotel. They were none other than Sebastian and Madelyn.
The waiter stood by the table and asked very politely, โMay I take your order, please?โ
Sebastian looked up at Madelyn and asked, โWhat would you like to eat?โ
Madelyn, however, suddenly looked at him intently, responding to his question with a question of her own. โWhy did you bring me here to eat all of a sudden?โ
However, even though he didnโt say anything, Madelyn still managed to more or less guess his intention. He mustโve felt guilty about what happened last night. Thatโs probably why he invited me to dinner.
In truth, Madelyn wasnโt one to hold grudges, her anger had largely dissipated. Since Sebastian wanted to make amends, Madelyn didnโt mind. As a result, she graciously ordered plenty of food.
When the food was served, it was spread across the entire table. Feeling hungry, Madelyn found herself drooling at the sight of it. Without any hesitation, she picked up her cutlery and started eating.
Watching Madelyn devour her meal, her cheeks stuffed full, was incredibly endearing. The sight brought a great deal of comfort to Sebastianโs heart.
Soon, the meal was finished. Madelyn even let out a burp from how full she was.
The evening was still quite early. At precisely seven oโclock, the sun hadnโt fully set. At that moment, a thought suddenly flashed across Madelynโs mind. โSebastian, we havenโt exercised in a while, how about we take a walk? It aids in digestion too.โ
Sebastian didnโt mind either way, so he nonchalantly asked, โWhere do you want to go?โ
