Chapter 66 A Match Made In Heaven

Madelyn was over the moon, her laughter ringing out like a singing bird, which inevitably sparked othersโ€™ curiosity toward her.

Before long, everyone around them had turned their gazes in their direction.

Awe and admiration filled their eyes as they watched the two.

Their appearances were remarkably exquisite, as if they gained the favor of the heavens. The way they carried themselves stood out, making them particularly noticeable in a crowd.

The onlookers couldnโ€™t help but marvel at how the two were a perfect match and were truly made for each other.

At that time, the two were frolicking carelessly on the beach.

The evening breeze tossed Madelynโ€™s ink-black hair about, her smile radiant and pure.

She possessed all the most beautiful qualities the world could offer. Her eyes seemed to hold a galaxy within, their brilliance so captivating that no one could tear their gaze away.

As Sebastian watched her smiling face, his lips unconsciously curved into a subtle yet warm smile.

However, Madelyn was having so much fun that she didnโ€™t notice the back of her skirt had gotten soaked from the rising tide.

Sebastian was concerned that she might catch a cold, so he forcefully pulled her onto the shore.

Madelyn still hadnโ€™t had enough fun. โ€œSebastian, can I play a little longer?โ€

โ€œNo, youโ€™ll have to wait until your injuries heal,โ€ Sebastian stated firmly.

โ€œOh all right.โ€ Although Madelyn was reluctant, she still agreed to go home.

Just then, a sudden whooshing sound came from behind, followed immediately by a loud pop.

The fireworks erupted in the sky with a resounding pop.

In that fleeting moment, the scene was overwhelmingly beautiful, causing everyone on the shore to gasp in awe.

Upon witnessing the scene, Madelyn was on the verge of tears. โ€œSebastian, itโ€™s so beautiful!โ€

Sebastian had no interest in watching the fireworks; instead, he found himself captivated by Madelynโ€™s picturesque features. Yes, it truly is beautiful.

After watching the fireworks, the two of them headed home.

After returning home, Madelyn suddenly felt a chill.

โ€œThe difference in temperature between day and night is really something. I wasnโ€™t cold at all by the seaside.โ€

Madelyn simply nodded and went to take a bath.

Strangely enough, even after taking a hot bath, she still felt cold.

The coldness didnโ€™t seem to come from externally; instead, it felt like a chill that had seeped deep into her body.

As Madelyn washed up, she couldnโ€™t help but ponder if she had acquired rheumatism.

However, she didnโ€™t dwell on it too much. After bathing, she still felt cold, so she went to the guest room to grab a blanket.

Sebastian was nowhere to be seen at that moment. However, Madelyn was certain he wouldnโ€™t be willing to share a bed with her.

Since he was unwilling to come over, Madelyn naturally didnโ€™t insist and planned to take things slowly in the future.

Feeling a bit weary, Madelyn snuggled tightly under the covers and began to sleep.

Unbeknownst to her, her door suddenly swung open at a later time.

As soon as Sebastian entered, he noticed her sleeping soundly. Considering she must be tired, he decided to move more quietly.

Madelyn was drowsy from slumber, but the faintest stir roused her, and she was suddenly wide awake.

When she woke up, she was met with Sebastianโ€™s exceptionally handsome face.

Sebastian remained remarkably composed. However, beneath his icy demeanor, there seemed to be a hint of caution, as if he was worried he might be asked to leave.

Blinking dazedly at him, Madelyn softly asked, โ€œWhat are you doing here?โ€

Sebastian was just about to say something, but then Madelyn rolled over. โ€œIโ€™m so tired, so Iโ€™m going to sleepโ€ฆโ€

She drifted back into slumber after that.

Sebastian breathed a sigh of relief.

Remembering how she had squinted her eyes, looking sleepy and dazed, he thought she looked adorable. The corners of his mouth curled up into a smile.

Sebastian lay down beside her but didnโ€™t fall asleep.

He thought back to the memories he made throughout the day. The image of Madelyn heartily enjoying her meal and her radiant smile by the seaside was still vivid in memory.

At that moment, Sebastian felt like he couldnโ€™t see anything else but her. She was his entire universe.

โ€œColdโ€ฆโ€ Suddenly, Madelyn shivered.

Filled with worry, he immediately reached out to touch her forehead.

When his hand touched her forehead, Sebastian suddenly furrowed his brows. She has a fever! It must be her spending too long in the chilly breeze and getting drenched in the cold seawater. Thankfully, itโ€™s just a mild fever and not something severe. Taking some medicine should probably be enough for her to recover.

Sebastian immediately got out of bed and went downstairs to find some antipyretic.

Madelyn was shivering incessantly in bed, feeling colder and colder.

In truth, Madelyn had always been frail since childhood, even suffering from a serious illness during her younger years.

That bout of illness had terrified her family. They had gone everywhere seeking renowned doctors to treat her.

Despite consulting doctors everywhere, they were all at their witโ€™s ends and claimed that Madelynโ€™s condition was due to bad health, so she was destined to be weak and prone to illnesses.

Fortunately, later on, a doctor appeared. After examining Madelyn, he confirmed that she was merely born weak and prescribed her a few tonics.

Unexpectedly, the tonics were exactly what Madelyn needed to recover from her ailment. It was then that her health gradually began to improve.

In the subsequent stages of Madelynโ€™s growth, Derek left no stone unturned and used all sorts of tonics to improve her health, resulting in Madelyn having a physical condition that was on par with that of an average person.

Despite that, Madelynโ€™s overall health was still weaker compared to an average person.

That was why she couldnโ€™t withstand the assault of the sea breeze and began to run a mild fever.

After Sebastian arrived downstairs, he promptly began searching for antipyretics in the drawers.

However, it was unclear where Lydia had stored the medicine, which inevitably made Sebastian somewhat anxious.

At that moment, Lydia had just risen from bed to use the bathroom. Seeing Sebastian rummaging through cupboards and drawers, she couldnโ€™t help but ask, โ€œMr. Lockhart, what are you looking for?โ€

Seeing it was Lydia, Sebastian asked, โ€œLydia, where is the antipyretic?โ€

โ€œItโ€™s in the bottommost drawer. Let me help you get it,โ€ Lydia said as she made her way over. Once she found the antipyretic, she handed it to Sebastian.

โ€œDo you have a fever, Mr. Lockhart?โ€ Lydia asked with concern.

โ€œItโ€™s Madelyn,โ€ Sebastian corrected.

Lydia nodded, then asked, โ€œDo you need any help?โ€

Sebastian shook his head. โ€œSheโ€™s fine, just running a low fever. You should go back to bed. I can take care of things.โ€

Sebastian took the medicine and returned to the room.

He helped Madelyn sit up and then fed her the medicine.

After that, he went to the bathroom, dampened a dry towel with water, folded it into a rectangular shape, and placed it on her forehead to help reduce her temperature.

He wiped Madelynโ€™s body with another clean, damp towel to cool her down.

Though Madelyn wasnโ€™t suffering from a high fever, her frail constitution prolonged the fever.

Sebastian had been fussing around for a good two hours before her fever broke.
