After a seemingly endless wait for Sebastian, Janessa suddenly felt as if the world had embraced the arrival of spring.

As Janessa gazed at Sebastian from a distance, she felt her heart was on the verge of melting. He’s still as handsome as ever, with his refined face and a tall figure. Even his stride carries an incomparable aura of dominance. This is the type of man that I want.

When Janessa’s train of thought ended there, she hurriedly approached him. “Sebastian, you’ve finally come out.”

Sebastian was about to head home when he spotted Janessa, to his surprise. The moment he saw her, his brows furrowed imperceptibly. What is she doing here?

However, out of courtesy, Sebastian still asked coldly, “Did you need something from me?”

As Sebastian gazed at her like that, Janessa blushed, her heart pounding relentlessly. Seeing she remained silent as her cheeks reddened, Sebastian immediately grew somewhat impatient.

Hence, with a frosty tone, he said, “Seeing that you haven’t decided what you want to tell me, do me a favor and figure it out before you come next time.”

After that, he walked straight toward the door without showing any consideration.

Upon seeing the situation, Janessa panicked and quickened her pace to catch up. “Don’t leave, Sebastian. I genuinely need to talk to you. Please let me finish.”

In response, Sebastian halted his steps, turning to Janessa. “Speak, then.”

Janessa felt an inexplicable sting in her heart. Why is he treating me so coldly?

However, Janessa didn’t dare to drag things out anymore and spoke her mind honestly. “I wanted to tell you that tomorrow is Madelyn’s birthday. I’ve arranged a little surprise for her at Royal Club’s luxury suite. A lot of people will be showing up to celebrate. I came especially to tell you this, hoping you could join us. Will you?”

After speaking, Janessa cautiously glanced at Sebastian, hoping to discern even the slightest hint of his emotions.

Sebastian, however, remained as aloof as he could be.

“Ms. Sherritt, since tomorrow is Madelyn’s birthday, she will tell me herself. There’s no need for you to make this trip personally.” He paused, then added, “Also, if there’s anything about her in the future, she’ll tell me herself. You don’t need to come here and inform me about it.”

Upon hearing those words, Janessa inexplicably felt as though a cool breeze had swept over her.

With an awkward chuckle, Janessa nodded unnaturally, stuttering, “I–I understand. But, Sebastian, surely you don’t think I came here specifically to see you, do you? If you do, then you’re overthinking things. Actually… I was just passing by and noticed your car was still parked outside, so I thought I’d drop by and let...”

...and blood was dripping out. Why does he only think about Madelyn and not me?

At that moment, Sebastian didn’t say anything other than a nonchalant “Mhm.” Then, he was planning to leave.

Seeing that he was ready to depart, Janessa hurriedly chased after him again, “Wait, Sebastian!”

Sebastian paused, annoyed, because to him, what Janessa said was unimportant stuff. What does she want to tell me now!

“Ms. Sherritt, is there anything else you need?” Due to his upbringing, Sebastian suppressed his impatience and turned to her.

Janessa bit her lip. Then, uneasily, she walked up to him. “Sebastian, do you have some free time? Let’s grab a meal together.”

A meal? Upon hearing that, Sebastian couldn’t help but furrow his brows, clearly showing his aversion toward her.

Janessa was a bit startled by that and quickly waved her hands, explaining, “You’ve got it all wrong. Sebastian. I meant that let’s have a meal together and discuss some details about Madelyn’s upcoming birthday party. We could plan a surprise for her or something.”

After she finished speaking, she looked at Sebastian with a hint of nervousness, “What do you think?”

To her surprise, Sebastian nodded.

Oh my god! Joy surged in Janessa’s heart instantly. Is this for real? I can’t believe Sebastian agreed to have dinner with me! Doesn’t this prove that Sebastian actually wants to spend some alone time with me, too? He may not say it aloud, but I bet I have a spot in his heart!

When her train of thought ended there, she was so elated she felt like she could explode.

It was as though countless fireworks were exploding in unison within her heart, lighting it up with their brilliant display, making it a feast for the eyes.

Unfortunately for her, Sebastian turned to Malcolm and said, “Malcolm, did you hear what Ms. Sherritt said? Stay and discuss this with her. I’ll leave this task to you. I can drive myself home.”

Upon hearing that, Janessa froze. What does Sebastian mean by this? He agreed to have dinner with me! So why? Was I overthinking things again?

At that moment, Malcolm respectfully nodded at Sebastian before approaching Janessa coldly.

“Ms. Sherritt, if you don’t mind, we could go inside and sit down for a chat.” Malcolm stepped forward and spoke politely.

Janessa ignored him. Rooted to her spot, she watched Sebastian leave with her eyes wide open.

He opened the door, entered the driver’s seat, and drove away, never once looking back.

Witnessing that scene, Janessa gritted her teeth, her eyes dominated by a bitter look.

With a fake smile, she said, “I’m sorry. I’m suddenly not feeling well, so I’ll be leaving first.”

Right after that, Janessa hastily left, upset.

Malcolm sneered with disdain as he watched her leave. Even a fool can tell she has her sights set on Mr. Lockhart, yet she seems so blind to her own appearance. Granted, Mrs. Lockhart may be a bit domineering, but purely from an appearance standpoint, she is leagues ahead of this woman. Also, she clearly knows Mrs. Lockhart is Mr. Lockhart’s fiance, yet she intentionally invites him out for a meal. This Ms. Sherrill is definitely not a good person.

Following that, Malcolm turned around and left, too.
