Chapter 100

Liam returned to the hall and searched for the key, turning his head this way and that. After a while, he actually found it in a drawer. Standing in front of Grace’s locked door again, he felt uneasy. He felt like he was too easily manipulated.

Grace had already heard his footsteps and called out, “Hurry up and open the door. Why are you just standing there?”

“Grace, swear that you’ll never slap me again,” Liam pleaded.

Grace, complying, said, “I swear I won’t ever slap you again.”

Only then did Liam unlock the door. The moment he saw her, he took a step back. Grace walked past him and headed outside. She couldn’t stand staying in that house for another second.

Liam followed closely behind, asking a bit urgently, “You’re leaving already? Can’t you at least make me a meal before you go? You’re just planning on leaving?”

At the doorway, Grace’s expression was cold. Liam felt hurt. A dull ache settled in his chest as he turned his face away. “Whatever. Just go. It’s not like I have to eat your cooking. I know you never cared about me.”

Out of the corner of his eyes, he saw her get into the car. He stood there feeling lost. In the past, he could still feel that Grace cared about him, but at that moment, he felt nothing at all. He wanted to call out to her, but because he had spent his whole life ordering Grace around, he couldn’t bring himself to lower his pride. So, he merely watched as Grace drove away.

Liam stood alone in the front yard for a long time, until Carmen and the others returned from dinner. Also was in a good mood that night, and it was finally time to deal with Grace. Yet, when she checked the room where Grace was supposed to be locked up, it was completely empty.

She returned to the living room and immediately turned to Liam. “Did you let her go?”

Liam felt deflated. He finally realized that he had been used by Grace. He felt even worse at Abee’s accusatory tone. “What else? That room is for locking up maids. Since when was Grace one?”

Alice felt her heart skip a beat. Liam had always sided with her, but now, he had willingly let Grace go. It meant he was starting to side with Grace. A chill ran down her spine as she clenched her fists. This couldn’t go on. She needed to get rid of that bitch, Grace, for good.

She eyed him as if she had suffered greatly. “Liam, your tone is so harsh. Do you think I’m a villain now?”

Seeing Alice’s pitiful expression, Liam immediately softened his stance. “Alice, I didn’t mean it like that. I’m always on your side.”

Alice didn’t say a thing as she silently went upstairs.

Her reaction made Liam feel even worse. Carmen immediately pulled his arm away. “How could you act like that to your sister? She’s pregnant, so can’t you be a bit more considerate?”

Inside her room, Alice proceeded to open the door. Her face was full of resentment. She lowered her head and rubbed her belly as a sinister idea formed in her mind.

Grace had originally planned to wait until Yancey and Alice got married. Lately, she had been extra cautious about her own safety, worried that Alice would make a move. She still couldn’t figure out a way to deal with Alice.

But during work hours, when she pushed open the door to the CEO’s office, she unexpectedly ran into Yancey. Yancey looked incredibly out of place. But he still mocked her when she entered, “Why do you always appear when I’m here to make my reports? Grace, are you that…”

Yancey was pleased, grinning widely. Grace really wanted to slap that face.

She placed the document in her hand on Lilun’s desk. As he reached out to take it, their fingertips accidentally touched.

Grace quickly withdrew her hand, remembering the Yule family’s beliefs. Strolling back to her original department, she reflected. For the past few days, she had been avoiding Liam, doing everything she could to minimize her presence around him. She was even considering transferring. Just as her thoughts were racing wildly in her mind, Kihan suddenly grabbed her hand.
