Kayla’s face was pale. Last night, she had seen Arnold stirred by her advances. If all had gone as planned, she would have kept him by her side, and tomorrow’s engagement banquet would have made Felicia the laughingstock. But even then, he had forced her away. Of course, Kayla wasn't about to let him go, but after a brief silence, he apologized before knocking her unconscious.

Kayla fumed. She grabbed a nearby pillow and flung it across the room. It was the day of Arnold and Felicia’s engagement banquet; 3:00 PM, with less than two hours until the 5:00 PM ceremony. She wouldn't get another chance if she didn't find a way to stop it. Kayla’s eyes darkened; her sweet, innocent face contorted with malice. Her gaze fell upon a fruit knife on the table.

Felicia had a busy weekend, treating five patients in two days, each with complex conditions that challenged the medical center. Since the troubles with Noah's family and Roberta's death, Clive had withdrawn, still reeling from the events. Angry with Noah’s family, he imposed stricter control over the Walshes, while simultaneously wrestling with guilt over Roberta’s death. As Clive aged, he gradually delegated responsibilities to Felicia, allowing her to assume control of the medical center.

Felicia, the young heiress, needed to prove herself. Her medical knowledge was unparalleled, unheard of. She could resolve even the most complicated medical conditions with ease. With each case, even her initially skeptical colleagues at the medical center were gradually won over by her abilities. Today was no different.

After seeing a patient, Felicia, exhausted and hungry, stopped for a hot dog and croissant on her way back to school. Sitting by a flowerbed, she began eating when a large shadow blocked the sun. Looking up, she saw bodyguards in black suits and sunglasses surrounding her.

The leader bowed slightly and said respectfully, "Mrs. Lawson, Mr. Lawson Senior has sent us to escort you. Please get in the car." This echoed Matthew’s previous threat. Even if it meant force, he would ensure her presence at the wedding!

Felicia took another bite of her hot dog, maintaining her composure. "Mr. Lawson Senior is quite something. What's the point of kidnapping me? If you have the ability, let—"

Before she could finish, the bodyguards parted. Arnold emerged from a car, striding toward her. "Are you looking for me?"

Felicia nearly choked, her eyes widening in disbelief. What was Arnold doing here? Wasn't he supposed to be with Kayla? In her past life, he hadn't even appeared at the engagement banquet. And in this life, they were hardly on good terms; he despised her and would have preferred to see her humiliated. That's why she was so certain this engagement wouldn't happen! But now, he had come to pick her up?
