Shawn would never let Felicia sever ties so easily. He resolved, saying to Lance, "Give me two days! I'll make that brat pay me back!"
Lance's tone was menacing. "I don't care how you raise the money. If you don't pay in two days, I'll chop off a finger daily until you do! If all your fingers are gone and you still can't pay, I'll sell everything you own. Got it?"
"Got it!" Shawn nodded vigorously, fear etched on his face.
Over the next two days, he lingered near Felicia's college, thwarted only by security guards from confronting her and demanding money. As the deadline approached, he frantically considered scaling the wall. Then, he spotted Felicia leaving campus.
She was heading to the night market. After two days of waiting, Shawn was unshaven, his clothes were a mess, and he reeked. Felicia wrinkled her nose and recoiled, feigning surprise. "What happened to you? You just got fifty million dollars, and you've spent it all in less than three months?"
Shawn, usually a bully of the weak and fearful of the strong, was a subservient coward before Lance. But facing Felicia, an eighteen-year-old, his usual arrogance returned. "Felicia, you've been back with the Fuller family for three months. As a daughter of the richest family, you must have a decent allowance. I just need thirty million dollars!"
Felicia remained silent, thinking thirty million was a small request. She laughed. "Look at yourselfโa loser like you thinks he's worth thirty million dollars?"
"I'm your brother! Don't push it! I'm only not acting against you because of our past relationship. Have you forgotten what it's like to be beaten?" Shawn shouted. Felicia's smile widened. How could she forget? Since childhood, she'd been beaten countless times, powerless against those stronger. Only when she could earn her own money did things improve, yet her adoptive family continued to bully and exploit her. Her expression hardened. "I don't have any money."
"Who are you kidding? Your biological parents are the richest in Khogend! They could casually donate hundreds of millions! They cherish you, so why wouldn't they give you money?" Shawn lunged for her bag, intending to check her cards.
Felicia's gaze darkened. She swiftly subdued him. Her voice was laced with threat. "It seems you haven't learned your lesson, because I didn't break your hand last time."
"Ouch! It hurtsโ" Shawn cried out in pain as Felicia pinned him, drawing the attention of passersby. She lowered her voice. "You're right. My biological parents are wealthy, but they don't like me. They prefer Kayla."
