At some point, the intricately patterned, ancient iron gate slowly opened. Streetlights lining the path illuminated one after another, and at the end of the marble-paved road, a tall, slender figure approached. The man wore a long black woolen coat, a black sweater, and trousers that blended seamlessly with the night. But what truly distinguished him was his languid, nonchalant airโelegant and poised, yet undeniably mysterious.
As he drew closer, his strikingly handsome face became more vivid in the streetlight glow, exuding an even greater sense of dominance. Abbie's heart pounded, her breath catching momentarily. She was captivated by Stephan, thinking of the resources he'd poured into her these past few months and the career path he'd paved. Her heart raced uncontrollably.
In the past, struggling in the industry, facing scorn and constant undermining, her carefully earned roles had been drastically reducedโsimply because she'd offended a third-tier actor. She'd been suppressed, unable to rise to fame. But since that day, her fate had changed. A single word, a slight raise of his hand, and resources she'd only dreamed of were now at her disposal. The so-called big names who once scorned her now eagerly sought her favor. How could she not be moved?
Yet, Abbie knew Stephan's interest extended only to providing these resources. Even when needing help, she relied on his subordinates. Therefore, she'd tried everything to meet him again, braving the cold wind in a short, sexy dress, meticulously made up, to win his heart. She was confident her looks were irresistible.
Under her intense gaze, he stopped a few steps away. His dark eyes, like peach blossoms, held a cold glint, yet a faint smile touched his lips as his gaze swept over her. "Come here," he said.
Abbie's heart skipped a beat. Flashing a dazzling smile, she ran toward him. But then, indifferently, he addressed Felicia. "It's cold outside. Come in."
Abbie's steps froze. The cold wind seemed to intensify, plunging her into a sudden chill. Disbelief etched her features as her stunned gaze shifted to Felicia. Felicia felt a shiver run down her spine; the scene felt like a battlefield.
Unfortunately, seeing Stephan, Cloud barked happily, his tail wagging furiously, and he raced toward the man. He eagerly attempted to jump onto Stephan's leg; with a swift movement, Stephan lifted him, the dog emitting a contented sigh and settling into his arms.
Felicia hesitated to enter Stephan's domain. Having completed her task, she'd intended to leave, but he sensed her intention and exuded a dangerous aura. "Hmm?" he questioned.
She steeled herself and stepped inside. The massive iron gate slowly closed behind them. He ignored Abbie, turning to walk away. Panicked, she called out to him.
"Mr. Russell! Iโฆ" Abbie hesitated, then said, slightly aggrieved, "I'm cold, too."
He showed no tenderness, responding bluntly, "What does that have to do with me?"
