Listen to this chapter:

Felicia's adoptive brother, Shawn Fuller, had once betrayed her, knocking her unconscious and imprisoning her in a hotel room to settle his debts with a loan shark. To escape, she'd jumped from a window, only to be caught and have her right hand broken, ending her medical career. This time, however, she would fight back.

Shawn stood outside the hotel room with the loan shark, Lance Thompson, obsequiously bowing. "Mr. Thompson, she's inside. As agreed, I give you my sister, and my debts are settled!" Thompson, his heart pounding with anticipation, replied, "Shawn, I didn't think you'd actually do this."

"She's not really my sister," Shawn mumbled, then quickly added, "Here's the keycard."

Thompson eagerly swiped the card. Days earlier, he'd glimpsed Felicia and been captivated by her beauty. His anticipation was palpable. His lackeys whistled and hooted, taunting, "Mr. Thompson's getting lucky tonight!"

Thompson swaggered into the dark room, his gut jiggling. "Wait your turn! I'll have my share first!" Their cheers were cut short as a heavy vase crashed down, striking him squarely on the head. Blood splattered as he collapsed. Before anyone reacted, the vase struck Shawn as well, eliciting a scream that broke the stunned silence.

Felicia emerged, the vase dripping blood in her hand. Her face was impassive, her eyes glacial. Shawn stared, aghast. His usually meek sister was transformed, her gaze cutting like a knife. "What the fuck?" he stammered.

Thompson, groaning, roared, "Tie her up! I'll teach her a lesson!"

Felicia reacted instantly, knocking down one lackey, dodging another, and shattering the vase. She fled down the hallway, sprinting towards the fire escape, glancing back to see her pursuers, their faces contorted with rage. She smirked and gave them the middle finger.

Thompson bellowed, "Catch her!" Some lackeys pursued, others intercepted her path. Thompson sneered at Shawn, threatening, "If you don't catch her, I'll collect your debt with interest and chop off a hand."

Shawn's face paled. He cursed Felicia silently; this was all her fault. "Don't worry, Mr. Thompson! I'll get her!" he promised, ignoring his head wound.

Outside, Felicia reached a busy intersection. The lackeys surrounded her, blocking her escape. Though passersby watched, none intervened. She was alone.

Shawn, wiping blood, approached, snatching a club. "You wanna run? I'll make sure you can't!" It was a repeat of her past life's trauma, but this time, he aimed for her legs.

In a flash, Felicia grabbed his wrist, expertly twisting it and locking his arm in a painful hold, utilizing acupuncture points to force him to the ground. A bone-jarring crack filled the air as Shawn screamed in agony.

Felicia didn't relent, employing a technique learned in prison. "Doesn't it hurt? You broke my hand," she sneered, her hatred palpable. Shawn denied it, bewildered. Felicia didn't explain; her hatred consumed her. Shawn's actions in her past life had ruined her career, pride, and life. She tightened her grip, her vengeance unrestrained.

Across the street, Mike Lawson, of the powerful Lawson family, watched, swirling his wine. He called to Stephan Russell, "Hey, Stephan, look! A woman's taking on ten guys! She's fierce!"

Stephan, head of the powerful Russell family, initially unimpressed, scoffed. Mike then revealed Felicia's true identity as the Fuller family's daughter. A flicker of interest crossed Stephan's face. He murmured, "I like her eyes," and added chillingly, "I want to dig them out."

Shawn, writhing in pain, urged his lackeys to subdue Felicia. Just then, luxury cars bearing the unmistakable Fuller family license plates sped towards them. The thugs recoiled, knowing better than to challenge the city's wealthiest family. Shawn cursed, oblivious to the shift in power dynamics.

Felicia counted down, "Three, two, oneโ€”" A sob echoed, and she was embraced. "I've found you, my daughter!"
