That evening, the banquet hall blazed with festivities; laughter and clinking glasses filled the grand space. Kayla thrived in the attention, basking in the compliments of her guests. She had invited many coursemates and friends. At the college, anyone from an average family background who received an invitation from Kayla was overjoyed; the Fullers were, after all, Khogend's wealthiest family. They eagerly anticipated such an eye-opening event, an opportunity to broaden their connections and potentially mingle with higher social circles.

Then there were those like Olivia, herself part of the city's elite, who also received an invitation. Unlike others, Olivia had no interest in attending. However, in the world of high society, family ties and business partnerships ran deep. Her family owned a major catering chain with extensive dealings with the Fullers.

Despite her disinterest, her parents insisted, practically forcing her attendance. Skipping Kayla's birthday banquet was impossible. Watching Kayla revel in the praise of sycophants, Olivia rolled her eyes. "Oh, please," she muttered.

Kayla was impossible to miss, draped in an extravagant, custom-designed white gown that shimmered under the lights like a cascade of diamonds.

"Isn't that the latest spring collection from a high-end designer?" one guest gasped. "I heard it hasn't even reached stores yet! Kayla's so lucky to wear it first!"

"Forget the dress," another chimed in. "Look at her jewelry! That necklace alone fetched an astronomical price at auction. The entire set is a collector's dream!"

Kayla covered her mouth with a delicate laugh. "You're all too kind! Honestly, I sometimes lose track of these things. I even misplaced a few pieces the other day. Can you believe it?"

The crowd fell silent. Her nonchalant boasting was difficult for those whose families weren't similarly wealthy to relate to.

One woman offered a nervous laugh to break the awkward silence. "So, Kayla, is Mr. Lawson coming tonight? He's your boyfriend, so he should be here, right?" Kayla nodded, radiating confidence. "Of course, he'll be here."

In truth, Arnold had initially declined her invitation, citing work. But when she casually mentioned Felicia's birthday was the same day, he abruptly changed his mind. This realization fueled Kayla's simmering anger into a rage. Her supposed boyfriend caring more about Felicia than her was intolerable.

She couldn't allow Felicia to remain a threatโ€”she had to act. The only question was whether Shawn had succeeded.

Hiding her impatience, Kayla maintained her composure, flashing bright smiles as she greeted guests. This was her night. She moved effortlessly through the ballroom, the center of attention, basking in the glamour and admiration.

Myra watched Kayla with a satisfied smile from across the room. Yet thoughts of Felicia intruded. She called a maid. "Have you seen Felicia?"

"Ms. Felicia went out this afternoon and hasn't returned," the maid replied.

"Oh my... This girl," Myra muttered, her brows furrowing in mild frustration. Just as she reached for her phone, the maid brightened. "Mrs. Fuller, Ms. Felicia is back!"

The cold from outside clung to Felicia as she entered. The warmth of the room enveloped her as she casually shrugged off her coat, letting it drape over her arm. Dressed simply yet stylishly in a hoodie and loose-fitting jeans, her effortless look highlighted her tall, elegant frame. Her natural grace and perfect proportions made even simple attire appear runway-ready. Her long hair was tied back in a casual ponytail, accentuating the delicate features of her petite, flawless face. Her clear, cool eyes swept across the room with an air of relaxed confidence, giving her an almost untouchable aura.

One of the maids chuckled, turning to Myra. "Mrs. Fuller, Ms. Felicia really does look just like you."
