Mike's paternity test confirmed Sandra was his daughter. Since then, he'd relentlessly searched for her mother, but she seemed to have vanished. Stephan, a close friend of Mike's, had also aided the search, to no avail.
"I see," Felicia sighed sympathetically. "No wonder Sandra calls every woman she sees 'Mom.' Children are perceptive, especially at the age when they begin recognizing people; she naturally yearns for her mother." Stephan leaned closer. "Do you like kids?"
She was speechless. A sudden realization struck her, and she sprang from the sofa. Her abrupt movement, coupled with yesterday's exhaustion, caused her leg to cramp, sending her stumbling into his arms.
He chuckled. "You initiated that."
Speechless, she quickly left. Seeing her depart, Kenneth brought the car around. While waiting, she overheard a conversation from the garden. Two bodyguards were speaking.
"Mr. Russell was furious last night," one said. "He seized the Lawson family's largest mine and an oil field."
"I know," the other replied. "Only Mike had the sense to realize pleading with Mr. Russell was futile and sought help from Ms. Fuller. Otherwise, the Lawson family's newly acquired gold shares would have been lost too!"
"Yeah, but this might reveal Mr. Russell's presence in Khogend."
"It's inevitable. The walls have ears. We'll just have to increase patrols and security around the estate."
Their voices faded as they moved away. The car arrived.
Felicia got in, feeling a subtle shift within. She knew the Lawson family's apology was due to Stephan. Without him, such a substantial "offering" would have been impossible. But knowing this and hearing it firsthand were vastly different, especially since her actions revealed Stephan's location.
She hoped this wouldn't negatively impact him, reassuring herself that it shouldn't; he had skilled associates and formidable abilities, not to mention a powerful background. Who would dare to challenge him? She decided to worry about herself.
Her first stop was the pharmacy. She wouldn't leave anything to chance. After taking a pill with water, she felt relieved and headed to Archer Street to check on her two clinics. Coincidentally, Harvey was entering Harmony Medical Center upon her arrival.
He bristled, acting like a cocky rooster. "What? Still not giving up? How dare you come back? Brat, just seeing you brings bad luck!" he yelled, as if he owned the street.
Felicia ignored him, crossing the street and entering her clinic. "Union Clinic" and the adjacent "Mercy Clinic" were depressingly empty. Harmony Medical Center's reputation was insurmountable; anyone with a choice went there. But now, both clinics were hers.
