Listen to this chapter:

Maurice still hadn't arrived. However, one of his trusted subordinates appeared, respectfully informing Felicia, "Ms. Fuller, Mr. Glovers has prepared a room for you. Please settle in comfortably. He also said that whenever you wish to leave, we will arrange a private jet."

He offered no explanation regarding Maurice's absence. Felicia's curiosity was piqued. Why such kindness? She replied, "I'll leave tomorrow."

"Understood," the subordinate responded, showing no hesitation. He immediately began organizing her departure, ensuring the private jet was ready. Felicia remained skeptical.

The room prepared for her was vastly different from her previous quarters at Bamboo Court. This was a much larger, more elegant compound, surrounded by peonies in full bloom—a breathtaking sight at this time of year. Yet, Felicia lacked the inclination to appreciate the scenery. Her first action was a thorough search for cameras or listening devices. Finding none, she felt a strange unease. It was as though Maurice was deliberately trying to erase her unpleasant imprisonment.

Though treated as a guest during her seven-day confinement, she had been effectively imprisoned, constantly monitored, unable to contact the outside world or escape. Now, despite remaining on the Glover estate, she felt free. Her current lodgings were so different that, were her memory slightly clouded, she might mistake this for her first visit.

"Heh…" Felicia sneered, closing the door. Immediately, she produced a knife and silver needles, preparing to remove the venomous creature directly. Maurice's cooperation was irrelevant. Removing the primordial controlling her would sever the seedling's influence over him, breaking their connection.

With swift precision, she located the venomous creature beneath her skin. A small incision allowed it to crawl out. Lacking the presence of its twin, it immediately ceased movement. The twin venomous creatures were interdependent; the removal of one ensured the death of the other.

Felicia tended her wound, wrapping the dead primordial in paper and discarding it.

Meanwhile, Maurice sought out Caeser, a white-bearded medical master, avoiding Felicia entirely. He posed an unexpected question: "How can I keep the venomous creature inside me?" Caeser, believing he'd misheard, repeated the request several times. This was unheard of; those afflicted with a venomous creature typically sought its immediate removal. Why would anyone, especially with a twin venomous creature, desire to retain it? Had he forgotten the consequences? The twin had caused his wounds!

"Mr. Glovers, this is madness! You must remove the creature. There's no benefit in keeping it. If anything happens to Felicia, you'll be implicated!"

Maurice's impatience flared. "I know that! I'm asking how to keep it, not for a lecture."

Caeser shook his head, sighing. "I can't do that."

Maurice fell silent, a frustration hanging heavy in the air. He wanted to explore other options, but before he could speak, an overwhelming emptiness filled his chest. In the past, Felicia's emotional turmoil had felt like a second presence within him, a palpable connection mirroring her joy, anger, and sorrow. Now, that invisible link was severed, cleanly cut.
